最新版2019-2020年人教版高中英语必修五Unit5单元综合测试一及答案-精编试题

新课标高二上学期5册Unit 5测试Class: Name: Marks: 满分(120)第一部分阅读理解(共两节,满分40分)第一节(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)AIt all started off with five. It was raining, and my dad told me that I had to make five free throws (投球) one after another without a break before I could go home. I was ten years old at that time. So I shot (投球) until I indeed made five free throws. Pretty soon the number of free throws increased until I got to high school and I had to make seventy-five before I could leave the gym.I used to get mad when I reached the required amount and I would miss the next one, but my dad made me start over, saying that I missed it on purpose. So in high school I would usually get to 120 before I stopped. My highest ever was 175. I never expected this would ever bring me some benefit, but one game really changed my idea. Our school team was playing basketball match with Royal High School, and we lost the game by twenty points a week earlier, so this game was all about revenge (报仇). With two minutes left in the game, my team was up by six and their coach told them to foul (犯规). Our coach immediately put forward a perfect plan — giving the ball to me every time. And every time my teammates gave me the ball, the other team would foul me. Then I went to the free throw line and made two free throws successfully. I ended up going ten-for-ten that game all in the last two minutes. The final score was 57-50 and we won.1. We can learn from the first two paragraphs that .A. the a uthor’s father was very strict with himB. the author’s father wanted him to create a recordC. the author had to make five free throws every dayD. the author could make 75 free throws at the age of 102. How many times was the author fouled?A. Ten.B. Seven.C. Six.D. Five.3. What can we learn from the text?A. The author could make fifty free throws within two minutes.B. The author’s hard work brought a good result in the game.C. The author’s coach didn’t know the author had t he talent.D. Royal High School team was stronger than the author’s team.BHaving attended a first-aid-at-work course, Brian Cracknell soon found himself responding to two emergencies in a week.Brian was at work in his bus company office in Weston-super-Mare on May 18 when a colleague called to say there had been an accident at a bus stop nearby. He ran to the scene with his first aid kit and found an old lady sitting at the bus stop. When boarding (上车) the bus, the old lady painfully hurt her left leg, which was bleeding. He introduced himself, and asked some basic first aid questions to get a general picture of her health. Then he put his jacket on the floor, using the lady’s coat as a pillow, and gently laid her down so he could raise her legs and apply some bandages. Bryan said, “At first I was a bit worried about remembering to do all the right things. I made sure she was as comfortable as possible.” When he had nearly finished, he told the lady that she was his first one. The lady said he was doing a great job.Just a week later, Brian got a second call-out to help another lady at a bus stop.Having used his new skills twice within a short time, Brian has decided to sign up as a Red Cross fir st aid volunteer. As he said, “I just thought: what’sthe point in having this knowledge if I’m not going to use it? It felt really good to help those people. I was so proud of myself afterwards, so I’m going to join the Red Cross.”4. Before helping the old lady, Brian ..A. had given first aid on many peopleB. was thought to be a skilled first aid volunteerC. knew nothing about how to handle an emergencyD. had learnt first aid skills but hadn’t put them into practice5. For men, the preferred cut is short on the sides and back but longer on top. For women, the company prefers a bob with a longer fringe (刘海) that can be swept to one side. This unusual request is its effort to help the country save energy. The spokeswoman for the Tokyo-based construction firm Maeda Corporation Chizuru Inoue explained, “Our company is eager to protect the environment and we encourage our staff to carry out many environment-friendly actions.”She added, “We are not sure of the data yet, but we believe if people have short hair, they do not need to use their hair driers for so long and they will use less water. If all our employees do this, then we m ay save a lot of power.” Some staff are confused about which style they must have and have been asking which salons (美容院) give the best cut.The energy-saving move is part of a national campaign to reduce energy consumption (消耗) following the Fukushima nuclear disaster. Japan has been struggling to produce enough electricity since the tsunami ended production at the Fukushima plants. The disaster resulted in a review of the country’s energy policy that now meansless than a quarter of its remaining nuclear plants are in use. The government has talked about a move away from nuclear energy towards more sustainable (能持续的) technologies. Many government departments have taken measures to save power, including a reduced use of air conditioning in offices and schools. Many employees cannot turn down the air conditioner below 27 degrees in the hottest summer months.8. The company gave the order of hairstyles to .A. keep the company offices cleanB. show a good image of the businessC. make the staff look tidy and prettyD. help reduce energy consumption9. After the Fukushima nuclear disaster, Japan .A. is building more nuclear plantsB. has to rethink its energy policyC. limits people’s daily energy useD. decides to close old nuclear plants10. It can be inferred from the text that .A. nuclear power forms 1/4 of Japan’s energyB. nuclear plants will soon disappear in JapanC. the company is not alone in saving energyD. other companies have copied the “hairstyle order”11. What would be the best title for the text?A. Sustainable power is welcome in JapanB. Nuclear disaster brings bad resultsC. Short hairstyles may help save energyD. Japan is lacking in energyDIt turns out that nodding off (睡觉) in class may not be a bad idea, as a new study has shown that going to sleep shortly after learning new materials is the best way to remember them.According to US lead author Jessica Payne, a psychologist at the University of NotreDame in Indiana, nodding off after learning something new is like “telling” the sleeping brain what to remember. Along with colleagues, she studied 207 students who slept for at least six hours per night. Students were randomly (随机地) assigned to study something declarative (陈述的) at 9 am or 9 pm, and returned for testing 30 minutes, 12 hours or 24 hours later.Declarative memory refers to the ability to consciously (有意识地) remember facts and events, and can be divided into memory for events and memory for facts about the world. People use both types of memory every day — remembering where they parked today or learning how a colleague prefers to be called. At the 12-hour retest, memory was better following a night of sleep compared to a day of wakefulness (不眠). At the 24-hour retest, with allstudents having received both a full night of sleep and a full day of wakefulness, students’ memories were greater when sleep happened shortly after learning rather than following a full day of wakefulness.“Our study confirms that sleeping directly after learning something new is bene ficial for memory. What’s special for this study is that we have shown sleep’s influence on declarative memory,” Payne said. “Since we found that sleeping soon after learning benefited both types of memory, this means that it would be a good thing to go over any information you need to remember before going to bed. In some sense, you may be telling the sleeping brain what to consolidate (巩固).”12. What’s the main idea of the text?A. How to improve one’s memory is a difficult problem.B. Nodding off after learning something new helps remember it.C. Students should nod off in class after they learn new materials.D. The best way to remember new materials is to nod off in class.13. We can learn about the study that .A. Jessica Payne and her colleagues were testedB. 207 students were eager to take the testC. it tested students studying something declarativeD. people’s memory can be divided into two types14. Paragraph 4 mainly tells us .A. students’ memories are the best if they sleep for 12 hours each dayB. sleeping for 24 hours contributes to improving students’ memoriesC. a full day of wakefulness can make students’ memories improved greatlyD. students’ memories are better when sleep happens shortly after learning15. What suggestion does Payne give in the last paragraph?A. The more you sleep, the more you remember.B. Go over what you want to remember before going to bed.C. Teachers should allow their students to sleep in class.D. If you want to improve your memory, you should sleep.第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

Perhaps the following are pieces of advice that I hope you'll find useful. If the book is in English, that may mean slow progress for you. But I don't advise you to read too slowly. When I was living in Tokyo, I used to go to Kanda, where the secondhand book shops are(just as in London, When you were here last year, you used to spend hours in Charing Cross Road). The shelves were full of English books. The first twenty or thirty pages of many of them had their margins filled with penciled notes and there were lots of words and phrases underlined. The owners, probably university students, had started out very seriously, determined to master the books. Then, as I turned the pages over, I found the reader had given up his attempt.I suppose that's a common experience in many countries with books in a foreign language. The reader starts out, full of hope. Then the need to turn to a dictionary, perhaps ten or even twenty times a page, tires him out. Therefore, don't start reading a book unless you see, from the first few pages, that it's one you can read with ease and understanding. Don't try to run before you can walk. Read again, perhaps several times. And by the end of the chapter you'll have guessed its meaning. That's how we learn the meaning of words in our own language, isn't it?( )46.In Charing Cross you can expect to find _________.A.books having twenty of thirty pagesB.many books full of penciled notesC.many bookshopswhere the used books are soldD.books you need to read( )47.The writer says _________.A.you should choose a book of interest if you prefer not to read slowlyB.too many new words in the page will prevent learners from reading to the endC.you should never read a book that has ten or twenty new words per pageD.it's a good idea for the university students to use a dictionary while reading( )48.You can't complete your reading of a book _________.A.if penciled notes are not made in the margins of a pageB.unless you read a book with the help of a dictionaryC.if you are not filled with hope at the beginning stage of readingD.unless the book chosen is right for your level( )49.The writer suggests that _________.A.you go on with your reading when a new word appearsB.you immediately find the meaning of a new word in a dictionaryC.you stop and guess the meaning when an unknown word comesD.you keep guessing the meaning of a word until you have got its meaning( )50.This passage also tells us _________.A.how to overcome the difficulty that many university students have in studiesB.how to learn words with the help of a dictionaryC.how learners choose their books in a foreign language and learn new wordsD.how the book owners write's the notes on'the bookBFarming plays an important part in the Canadian economy. His food-loving family had two kitchens, and he quickly learned what was the best way to bake his cakes. Lieberman improved his kitchen skills greatly during a year abroad before college, learning from a cook in Italy and studying local specialties (地方特色菜) in Germany, Spain and France. At Yale, he was known for throwing dinner parties, single-handedly frying and baking while mixing drinks for dozens of friends. Just for fun, he and some friends decided to tape a show named Campus Cuisine about his cooking. Lieberman was a real college student showing his classmates how to do things like making drinks out of dining-hall fruit. That helped the show become very popular among the students. They would stop Lieberman after classes to ask for his advice on cooking. Tapes of the show were passed around, with which his name went beyond the school and finally to the Food Network.Food Network producer Flay hopes the young cook will find a place on the network television. He says Lieberman's TAL#NBSP charisma is key. "Food TV isn't about food anymore, " says Flay. "It's about your personality (个性) and finding a way to keep people's eyeballs on your show."But Lieberman isn't putting all his eggs in one basket. Can you learn to read better, or must you agree that nothing can be done about it?To be sure, people are different. You cannot to do everything as well as certain other people do. If all the students in a class tried out for basketball, some would be very good players; others would be very poor; and many would be in between. But even the very poor players can become much better players if they are guided in the right way, and with plenty of practice. It is the same with reading. Some seem to enjoy reading and to read well without any special help. Others find reading a slow and tiring job. In between, there are all degrees of reading ability. Many experiments have shown that just about every poor reader can improve his reading ability. In these experiments, the poor readers were given tests of reading ability. After some of the causes of their poor reading were discovered, they were given special instruction and practice in reading. After a few months, another test of the same kind was given. In nearly all cases, these people had raised their reading scores.(1) With the example of basketball players, the author shows.A. why certain people are poor readersB. that there are differences in people's abilitiesC. why some people are good basketball playersD. that good basketball players can be good readers(2) To improve their reading ability, people should.A. work long and hardB. take different forms of testsC. have special help and practiceD. try different reading materials(3) The experiments mentioned in the text show that.A. good readers seem to enjoy readingB. almost all poor readers can make progressC. causes of poor reading are difficult to find outD. tests help people improve their reading ability20、【来源】 2007年高考真题全国卷II(C篇)第49~52题8分(每题2分)Odland remembers like it was yesterday working in an expensive French restaurant in Denver. The ice cream he was serving fell onto the white dress of a rich and important woman.Thirty years have passed, but Odland cannot get the memory out of his mind, nor the woman's kind reaction. She was shocked, regained calmness and, in a kind voice, told the young Odland. "It is OK. It wasn't your fault." When she left the restaurant, she also left the future Fortune 500 CEO with a life lesson: You can tell a lot about a person by the way he or she treats the waiter.Odland isn't the only CEO to have made this discovery. Rather, it seems to be one of those few laws of the land that every CEO learns on the way up. It's hard to get a dozen CEOs to agree about anything, but most agree with the Waiter Rule. They say how others treat the CEO says nothing. But how others treat the waiter is like a window into the soul.Watch out for anyone who pulls out the power card to say something like, "I could buy this place and fire you, " or "I know the owner and I could have you fired." Those who say such things have shown more about their character than their wealth and power. The CEO who came up with it, or at least first wrote it down, is Raytheon CEO Bill Swanson. He wrote a best-selling book called Swanson's Unwritten Rules of Management. "A person who is nice to you but rude to the waiter, or to others, is not a nice person, " Swanson says. "I will never offer a job to the person who is sweet to the boss but turns rude to someone cleaning the tables."(1) What happened after Odland dropped the ice cream onto the woman's dress?A. Without enough blood, the brain lives for only three to five minutes. More often the doctors can't fix the damage. Sometimes they are afraid to try something to help because it is dangerous to work on the brain. The doctors might make the person worse if he operates on the brain.Dr. Robert White, a famous professor and doctor, thinks he knows a way to help. He thinks doctors should make the brain very cold. If it is very cold, the brain can live without blood for 30 minutes. This gives the doctor a longer time to do something for the brain.Dr. White tried his idea on 13 monkeys. First he taught them to do different jobs, then he operated on them. He made the monkeys' blood go through a machine. The machine cooled the blood. Then the machine sent the blood back to the monkeys' brains. When the brain's temperature was 10℃, Dr. White stopped the blood to the brain. After 30 minutes he turned the blood back on. He warmed the blood again. After their operations the monkeys were like they had been before. They were healthy and busy. They honestly admit, however, that they hardly know a thing when it comes to understanding how a piece of music is made. Where a composer (作曲家) begins, how he manages to keep going — in fact, how and where he learns his trade — allare covered in complete darkness. The composer, in short, is a man of mystery (神秘).One of the first things the common man wants to know about is the part inspiration (灵感) plays in a composer's work. He finds it difficult to believe that composers are not much interested in that question. Writing music is as natural for the composer as eating or sleeping for all. Music is something that the composer happens to have been born for.The composer, therefore, does not say to himself: "Do I feel inspired? " He says to himself: "Do I feel like working today? " And if he feels like working, he does. It is more or less like saying to himself: "Do I feel sleepy? " If you feel sleepy, you go to sleep. If you don't feel sleepy, you stay up. If the composer doesn't feel like working, he doesn't work. It's as simple as that.(1) What would be the best title for the text?A. Composer: A Man of MysteryB. Practice Makes Good MusicC. 一、阅读理解(共8小题,每小题2分,共16分)AThink about the longest elevator ride that you’ve ever taken. Whether you rose five floors or 100, it probably took less than a few minutes. Now imagine riding in an elevator higher and higher as it climbs for nearly a day. When you reach the top floor, prepare for views that are really out of this world. You’ll be in space!Space elevators might sound like a crazy idea, but they’re something scientists have been working on for decades. Why would anyone want a space elevator? At the moment, riding in a capsule is the only way ordinary people can get to and from space. But those rides are very expensive — about $25 million per person per flight.Researchers are still figuring out the details about how a space elevator might work. One idea is stretching a very long cable — more than 37,000 kilometers — up to space from the earth’s equator (赤道). The location is important: Objects in space above the equator orbit the earth at the same speed that our planet turns. A weight on the end of the cable would stretch it tight. An elevator tied to the cable could use it to climb up and down. The only problem is that besides being long, this cable must also be very strong. Storms, including hurricanes might break it. One way to solve this problem is to stretchthe cable from the moon instead of from the earth. Airplanes designed to climb higher than a typical jet might take off from the earth and link up with the cable, which would be held in place by the pull of gravity from the earth. An elevator car waiting therewould then take riders the rest of the way to the moon. Fueled by solar power, theelevator could transport people and materials without much expense or effort per ride. So, when will you be taking your first space-elevator ride? Probably not for awhile.1. The first paragraph is presented by________. A. giving an example B. making a comparison C. asking questions D. analyzing causes2. Why have scientists been working on space elevators? A. To make trips to space cheaper. B. To help astronauts do research in space. C. To find a more convenient way to the moon. D. To prove an assumption which seems crazy.3. The underlined word “it” in Paragraph 4 refers to ________. A. the cable B. the equator C. an object in spaceD. a weight on the end of the cable此卷只装订不密封班级 姓名 准考证号 考场号 座位号4. Which part of a magazine may the article appear in?A. Science and technology.B. Sports.C. Literature.D. Entertainment.BWithin five years, a woolly mammoth (猛犸象)will likely be cloned, according to scientists who have just recovered well-preserved bone marrow (骨髓) in a mammoth bone.Russian scientist Siemyon Grigoriev and his colleagues are now analyzing the marrow, which they obtained from the mammoth, found in Siberian soil. Grigoriev and his team, along with colleagues from Japan, have announced that they will start a joint research project aimed at recreating the enormous mammal, which went extinct around 10,000 years ago. Mammoths used to be a common sight in North America and Eurasia. Many of our distant ancestors probably had regular face-to-face encounters with the elephant-like giants. The key to cloning the woolly mammoth is to replace the nuclei of egg cells from an elephant with those extracted from the mammoth’s cells. Doing this, according to the researchers, can result in embryos with the mammoth’s DNA. That has actually been known for a while. What have been missing are the woolly mammoth’s nuclei with undam aged genes. Scientists have been on a search for such nuclei since the late 1990s. Now it sounds like the missing genes may have been found. In the course, global warming may be responsible for the breakthrough. Warmer temperatures tied to global warming have melted ground in eastern Russia that is almost always permanently frozen. As a result, researchers have found a fair number of well-preserved frozen mammoths there, including the one that produced the bone marrow. Is it such a good idea, however, to clone animals that have long been extinct? For a while there has been some discussion of a real-life Jurassic Park setup containing such animals. Introducing these beasts into existing ecosystems could be like bringing in a potentially invasive species that would try to fill some space presently held by other animals. Even if the cloned animals were contained in special parks, there could still be a risk of spreading. So if the woolly mammoth is successfully cloned sooner rather than later, we’d probably be left with more questions and arguments than answers, at least in the short term.5. Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?A. How to clone a woolly mammothB. The woolly mammoth — an ancient speciesC. The research made by Russian and Japanese scientistsD. A woolly mammoth to be cloned6. Which of the following can be the key factor in cloning a mammoth?A. To find a living mammoth in North America or Eurasia.B. To use nuclei from a mammoth’s egg cells to replace the nuclei in an elephant’s egg cells.C. To find out when and where woolly mammoths lived on the earth.D. To find out if an cient mammoths are distant ancestors of today’s elephants.7. Which of the following best describes the writer’s attitude towards the future of cloning a mammoth?A. Uncertain.B. Indifferent.C. Positive.D. Disappointed.8. From the passage, we can learn that ________.A. some other extinct species have been cloned successfullyB. the mammoth used to be a very common speciesC. the clone of mammoths should be banned by lawD. a woolly mammoth will be successfully cloned this year二、语法填空(共10小题,每小题1.5分,共15分)Cloning has always been with us and is here to stay. Their idea might best bedescribed as locavorism (本土膳食主义). And they believe that eating local food is healthier and better for the environment.About two years ago, the couple ran across a car accident. The only victim was a deer. And then they found an interesting list by chance. In Massachusetts, many deer always rush to the motorway and often cause the accidents. So some Massachusetts police departments keep lists of people interested in ha rvesting meat if a deer isn’t damaged too much after a runin with a car. There are eight people on the Westf ord Police Department’s official list. In addition, animal control officials also call people to harvest the meat. In other words, they can go to the list.Bruce and his wife weren’t on the Wes tford list, when they came across that first deer in 2009.
