Reading has always been an integral part of my academic journey as an English major. Throughout my studies, I have had the opportunity to delve into a vast array of literary works, each offering a unique perspective and insight into the complexities of language, culture, and the human experience. One book that has particularly resonated with me and left a lasting impression is "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini.Hosseini's novel, set against the backdrop of a turbulent Afghanistan, follows the life of Amir, a young boy from a privileged Pashtun family. The story begins with Amir's childhood, where he grapples with the guilt of his inaction during a traumatic event that shaped his relationship with his best friend, Hassan. As the narrative unfolds, Amir is forced to confront his past and make difficult choices that will ultimately determine the course of his life. What struck me most about this book was the author's masterful storytelling and his ability to weave together themes of redemption, loyalty, and the enduring power of friendship. Hosseini's vividdescriptions and the depth of his characters' emotional journeys drew me in from the very first page. The novel's exploration of the complex social and political landscape of Afghanistan also provided me with a deeper understanding of the country's turbulent history and the challenges faced by its people. One of the most compelling aspects of "The Kite Runner" is the way it delves into the concept of guilt and its impact on an individual's life. Amir's struggle to come to terms with his actions, or rather, inaction, during the pivotal moment in his childhood serves as a driving force throughout the narrative. The author masterfully navigates the complexities of guilt, showing how it can shape one's sense of self and the relationships they hold dear.Another aspect of the novel that I found particularly striking was the way Hosseini portrayed the power of friendship and the way it can transcend social and cultural divides. The bond between Amir and Hassan, despite their differing social statuses, is a testament to the enduring nature of human connection. The author's depiction of their relationship, with all its nuances and complexities, was both poignant and heartbreaking. As an English major, I was also deeply impressed by Hosseini's command of language and his ability to craft a narrative that is both emotionally resonant and intellectually engaging. The author's use ofimagery and symbolism, particularly in his depiction of the kite-flying scenes, added a layer of depth and metaphorical significance to the story. The way he wove together the personal and the political, the individual and the societal, was a testament to his skill as a writer. In addition to the literary merits of the novel, "The Kite Runner" also provided me with a deeper understanding of the cultural and historical context of Afghanistan. Hosseini's vivid descriptions of the country's landscape, customs, and social dynamics offered me a window into a world that was previously unfamiliar to me. This exposure to a different cultural perspective has been invaluable in broadening my understanding of the diversity of human experiences. As I reflect on my experience of reading "The Kite Runner," I am struck by the way it has influenced my own personal growth and development as an English major. The novel's exploration of themes such as guilt, redemption, and the power of human connection have resonated deeply with me, prompting me to engage in deeper introspection and to consider the ways in which literature can shape our understanding of the world around us.Moreover, the novel's success as a work of contemporary fiction has also inspired me to consider the role of literature in shaping our cultural and social discourse. Hosseini's ability to tackle complex and sensitive issues with nuance and empathy has demonstrated to methe potential for literature to serve as a powerful tool for social change and cultural understanding. In conclusion, "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini has left an indelible mark on me as an English major. The novel's compelling narrative, rich character development, and exploration of universal themes have not only expanded my literary horizons but have also challenged me to think more deeply about the role of literature in our lives. As I continue my academic journey, I am grateful for the opportunity to have engaged with this remarkable work of fiction and to have been able to draw upon its insights and lessons in my own personal and intellectual growth.。

A Reading Report of Teachers’ ClassroomEvaluation Language学院(系):外国语学院专业:英语教育姓名:孙霞学号:1014010213Definitions of teachers’ classroom evaluation languageDifferent scholars lay particular emphasis on the definition of teachers’ evaluation language because of different perspectives. On the whole, we can define teachers’classroom evaluation language from the following four aspects: the content, the status, the purpose, the function. From the content point of view, teachers’ classroom evaluation language is that the teacher makes comments and conclusions aiming at students’behaviors during the process of the class and answers to the questions given by the teacher. It includes oral evaluation language, written evaluation language, and body evaluation language. From the status point of view, teachers’classroom evaluation language is an important part of teaching language as well as an effective way of controlling the class. In the class teaching process, the language with which teachers evaluate students is an art that is worthy of our study. From the purpose point of view, the implement of teachers’ classroom evaluation language is to guide, encourage as well as help students to finish the study task effectively and let them have a better understanding about the content. From the function point of view, teachers’ classroom evaluation language is the language that conveys the value judgment with the emotional intension, so as to stimulate students’ study interests, help to throw themselves into the study actively, and let them feel the development and the improvement they have gained. Classifications of teachers’ classroom evaluation language Based on the content dimension, Teachers’ classroom evaluation language can be divided into three aspects: classroom evaluation language on knowledge, classroom evaluation language on emotion, classroom evaluation language on organization.Classroom evaluation language on knowledge is made objectively by the teacher referring to whether the interactive content is right or wrong. In the use of such classroom evaluation language, the teacher can attempt to use the objective and unemotional evaluation language, which means the teacher trying to focus on the correctness of the students' English expression. It includes positive language and errorcorrection language. The former is that the teacher gives positive assessment on correct answers given by the students in the link of question-answer. It is not only the positive feedback to the students’ correct answers, but also an important way that help students consolidate their language. It has the characteristics of quickness and brevity. In the error correction, a simple negative should be used carefully. For the mistakes students made, if the teacher just gives a simple denial, but not points out where the students is wrong, instead of helping students master knowledge, he or she may harm students’ enthusiasm of study.Classroom evaluation language on emotion requires teachers to be in the stance of prompter to give hortative evaluation language in time and set up different standards according to different conditions of students. It consists of praise language and encouragement language. The former is given owing to students’outstanding performance in the class. Appropriate praise can make students get emotional experience of success, so as to improve students’self-efficiency. But we should be prudent in the use of praise language, bearing in mind that the misuse of this kind of language may cause unnecessary unfairness and boost. The encouragement language is on the basis of the level of the development of each individual, especially for those who are stubborn and have poor English grades. As long as they make progress, they are worth teachers’ encouragement. Classroom evaluation language on emotion does not have to be conscientious and meticulous like classroom evaluation language on knowledge, but has a certain influence on students’ state of learning of the day. Even with the same praise or encouragement, a subtle difference will produce some kind of subtle changes in students’mind when the teacher evaluates his or her students. Therefore, teachers should study their evaluation language carefully so as to give students appropriate evaluation in time with an arranged and different way.Classroom evaluation language on organization is that teacher use their special status of the organizers and participants to provide students with sufficient space for development and at the same time to give necessary directions to ensure that the classroom teaching will be carried on effectively and orderly under the premise of finishing the teaching task. With the advance and promotion of evaluation languageon organization, it will become the main tool of guiding students to think in a logical way and guaranteeing teaching order. In addition, it is also the reliance of students forming good study habits.Functions of teachers’ classroom evaluation languageTeachers’ evaluation language can affect students’ emotion from different aspects. Appropriate and effective language can motivate students’study interests and inner compulsion of probing knowledge, and let them experience the success, thus help them build up their confidence. Besides, it can also help them form the actively emotional attitude and cultivate the good study habits. On the contrary, inappropriate use of teachers’evaluation language will produce the opposite effects. On the one hand, it may cause students’ discontents and depression, and dampen their enthusiasm of study. On the other hand, students may become arrogant and complacent as a consequence of teachers’lavish praise and encouragement. By arranging and analyzing some relative documents and information, the author finds teachers’classroom evaluation language has the following functions:Diagnostic function: as the basic function of teachers’evaluation language, diagnostic function means that during the process of helping students understand the difficult and doubtful points they confront when they study, teachers diagnose the specific problems of students’thought disorder. Teachers can learn how much knowledge students have mastered from what they have learned and their difficulties as well as the reasons of these difficulties from their performance in the process of class teaching. And then by choosing appropriate evaluation language, teachers carry out diagnoses and critiques in view of students’ advantages and disadvantages showed in their study and the same time look for remedies suitable for them to the case, which can help students to correct mistakes and make up the shortfall.Incentive function:New Course Standard points out that the positive evaluation such as incentive language is given priority to evaluate students’ daily performance. Under the circumstances of new curriculum reform, teacher's role also got new development, no longer a simple teacher of imparting knowledge to students, but afacilitator of promoting students’ le arning. Therefore, the incentive function of teachers’ classroom evaluation language plays an important function. Incentive function refers to the positive evaluation for students’ active behavior, as a result of which, students are mentally satisfied and become more confident and interested in the study. At the same time these positive comments will drive students to continue to explore the unknown, so as to well promote their autonomous learning. Organization and management function: teachers’ evaluation language plays a role of guaranteeing the discipline of class, guiding the direction, and stressing key points in terms of different situation in classroom teaching. Through the use of simple evaluation language, teachers can organize the teaching and relate each teaching link in view of the actual situation of the teaching which is undoubtedly the most ideal teaching organization channel and its effect is also more natural.。

Please Show Your Boarding Pass and Passport,而没有“出境登记表〞,因为外国人不需要填这个表。

Note down three useful expressions you learned from your reading and make one sentence for each expression.1) [Useful expression] She wanted her mother to be happy this evening, but it was very difficult.[Sentence you made] Marry wanted to win the scholarship, but it was very difficult.2)[Useful expression] On the little table next to the bed was a hot cup of coffee and an empty cup.[Sentence you made] On the little table next to the bed was biographical notes.3)[Useful expression] He was the family doctor and he knew all the Clarkson family very well.[Sentence you made] Apparently, people in America, Canada, and Singapore are very happy; people living in India and Russia, not surprisingly, are not happy.7. General remarks: (≥200 words)can’t buy happiness, but the old saying seems to be supported by book. Many people still cling to the belief that gaining riches will be the answer to all their problems, yet they are probably mistaken. If material wealth does not bring happiness, then what does?Perhaps happiness has something to do with where you live. Family relationships in particular seem to be the key to long-term contentment. Actually, falling in love and having children are two of the situations that bring the greatest happiness.People increasingly spend more time alone watching TV or surfing the Internet rather than spending time with family. I think time spent with your family is a better investment than time spent making. Above all, family always is our harbor.word篇二:飘的读书报告英文版(共6篇)篇一:飘英文读书报告tomorrow is a new dayreading on gone with the windanother day.gone with the wind has a very significant position in our society. we feel america is an incredible and strange country, but gone with the wind uncovers her too softhearted veil, making people see many things that dirty and glorious are coexisted. it also has a special significance to adolescents. this novel became famous overnight as soon as it published. this novel which reached a length of 1000 pages shocked american. the movie gone with the wind was adapted from this novel. the movie made the novel even more famous. it is quite worth reading.篇二:飘--读书报告(英文)book reportgone with the wind姓名:学号:班级:教授:bookreporttitle: gone with the windauthor: margaret mitchellgee: novelpublish place and time: aviation industry press first edition, fourth printing summary:gone with the wind was published in the usa in 1936 and was the only work of margaret mitchell in her life. margaret mitchell spent almost ten years finishing this works ,though she could not accept the reputation before she went to the heaven later, she won pulitzerprize in 1937 by gone with the wind?gone with the wind takes place in the southern united states in the state of georgia during the american civil war and the reconstruction era that followed the war. the novels unfolds against the backgroundof rebellion in southern states, georgia among them, have declared their secession from the united states and formed the confederate states of america, after abraham lincoln was elected president withno ballots from ten southern states where slavery was legal. adispute over states rights has arisen involving enslaved african people who were the source of manual labor on cotton plantations throughout the south. the story opens in april 1861 at the tara plantation, which is owned by a wealthy irish immigrant family, the oharas. gone with the wind was on the background that lincoln advocated emancipation of the black slaves, describing the life of scarlett ohara. when scarlett was 16,she loved ashley who was aboutto marry her cousin—melanie. after being suffered the refuse of ashley, scarlett married charlie quickly in order to revenge ashley and she set the date of her wedding for the day before ashley’s, in fact, ashley married on the first of may. but scarlett became a widow soon because of the civil war. the south was always retreating in defeat, and scarlett took melanie and melanie’s childto leave the dangerous city. facing the ruined tara, his abnormal father and her died mother; scarlett did not know what to do and howto do. after 5 years’ battle, the north defeated the south, at this time ashley following with the armyfrom battle came back to reunion with his wife and his son .they lost their house in the battle, so ashley with melanie and their son hadto stay at tara and lived a tough life with scarlett. to our surprise, scarlett married frank—her young sister’s boyfriend. just for money, she married frank. unfortunately, frank was also died soon aftertheir marriage. scarlett lost her arrogance and became easygoing. facing rhett’s propose marriage, she answered without hesitation. they had a beautiful and lovely girl; they put all of their love totheir honey. although they had some unhappy trivial things, theystill lived with each other. the misfortunate covered scarlett again, their daughter died from riding a horse. rhett suck into the sad gloom, he thought scarlett did not love him and she loved ashley as usual. at the same time, his daughter also left him, in this so-called family he found no love; he could not stay any minute, even a second! there was no reason for him to live with scarlett who did not love him, so he left scarlett and came back to his house in which he once lived. he just wanted to live a simple but happy life. scarlett found who she really loved was rhett, so she wanted to let rhett know the truth that she loved rhett so many years just she did not know, but she was not given the chance. scarlett seated herself in the house praying tomorrow is another day.review:篇三:飘读书报告安同巧 201X14540311 12英语3班tomorrow is a new day------reading on gone with the windgone with the wind has a very significant position in our society. we feel america is an incredible and strange country, but gone with the wind uncovers her too softhearted veil, making people see many things that dirty and glorious are coexisted. it also has a special significance to adolescents. this novel became famous overnight as soon as it published. this novel which reached a length of 1000 pages shocked american. the movie gone with the wind was adapted from this novel. the movie made the novel even more famous. it is quite worth reading.
The Elements of Style
Jane Austen's novel Pride and Prejudice is a lighthearted tale of love and marriage in eighteenth-century England. It centers on the elder sisters of the Bennet family, Jane and Elizabeth. Their personalities, misunderstandings and the roles of pride and prejudice play a lavishing story. This story is told from third point of view. From my perspective Jane Austen wanted to convey love wins over prejudice and to not just take in the saying of first impression but to look in the person's character deeper. Jane Austin was born in 1775 in Stevenson, Hampshire. Her family wasn't rich but managed to give her a decent education. She was the seventh of eight children of her father, a clergyman. Like other young women of her social class, Jane and her sister Cassandra were educated mostly at home in subjects of music, drawing, painting, needlework, and social behavior. Her father's encouragement and her own enjoyment in reading led Jane to became very well read. At fourteen she began to write little plays for home theatricals. She also wrote nonsense story's to entertain her family. Jane would spend the majority of the evening in the corner of the room with her manuscript and blotter observing the world surrounding her. She would write when the room was quiet and if she were interrupted, she would cover her manuscript with a blotter and continued when the room was silent again. Before Jane Austen died of cancer in 1817 at Winchester, she had already published six successful novels: Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Northanger Abbey, Mansfield Park, Emma, and Persuasion, respectively. Jane Austen is now buried in the ancient cathedral in Winchester of her native Hampshire. Pride and Prejudice lets you travel through lives back then but also she portrays the lives of modern days. You can read it and you might be able to recall some parts of the book as your life, but in a different time period如何写英语读书报告篇二技术部新员工工作总结来到公司已经有一个多月了,在公司的点点滴滴都让我受益匪浅!

English: After reading a classic English literature book, I have found that the depth of the characters and the intricate plots have left a profound impact on me. The themes portrayed throughout the novel have invoked deep thoughts and reflection on societal issues and human nature. The richness of the language and the vivid imagery have transported me to another world, making me feel like a part of the story. Additionally, the author's insightful commentary on the human condition has resonated with me on a personal level, causing me to contemplate my own beliefs and values. Overall, studying English through reading iconic works of literature has not only enriched my language skills but also broadened my perspective on life and the world around me.
