The Pride of China
Yang Liwei was born in a farmer’s family in Suizhong County, Liaoning Privince in June, 1965.
When he was a child, he dreamed of flying in the blue sky. He joined the army in June, 1983. Nine years later he went to work in air force in Chengdu. In August 1996 he was chosen to be one of the 14 astronaut candidates from 1500 pilots through the physical examination.
