品味复原美文——熟读语感出Hannah Taylor is a schoolgirl from Manitoba, Canada. One day, when she was five years old, she was walking with her mother in downtown Winnipeg. They saw a man eating out of a garbage can. She asked her mother why he did that, and her mother said that the man was homeless and hungry. Hannah was very upset. She couldn't understand why some people had to live their lives without shelter or enough food. Hannah started to think about how she could help, but, of course, there is not a lot one five-year-old can do to solve the problem of homelessness.Later, when Hannah attended school, she saw another homeless person. It was a woman, pushing an old shopping trolley (购物车) which was piled with bags. It seemed that everything the woman owned was in them. This made Hannah very sad, and even more determined to dosomething. She had been talking to her mother about the lives of homeless people since they first saw the homeless man. Her mother told her that if she did something to change the problem that made her sad, she wouldn't feel as bad.Hannah began to speak out about the homelessness in Manitoba and then in other provinces. She hoped to spread her message of hope and awareness. She started the Ladybug Foundation, an organization aiming at gettin g rid of homelessness. She began to host “Big Bosses” lunches, where she would try to persuade local business leaders to contribute to the cause. She alsoorganized a fundraising (募捐) drive in “Ladybug Jars” to collect everyone's spare change during “Make Change” month. More recently, the foundation began another campaign called National Red Scarf Day — a day when people donate $20 and wear red scarves in support of Canada's hungry and homeless. There is an emergency shelter in Winnipeg called “Hannah's Place”, something that Hannah is very proud of. Hannah's Place is divided into several areas, providing shelter for people when it is so cold that sleeping outdoors can mean death. In the more than five years since Hannah began her activities, she has received a lot of praises. For example, she received the 2007 BRICK Award recognizing the efforts of young people to change the world. But through all this, Hannah still has the normal life of a Winnipeg schoolgirl, except that she pays regular visits to homeless people. Hannah is one of many examples of young people who are making a difference in the world. You can, too!复现表达词汇——写作词汇储备 1. attend v .看护; 照料; 服侍;出席; 参加 → unattended[搭配]attend a meeting\ class\ lecture\ ceremony\ partyattend school 上学 attend on/upon 照看; 看护 attend to 照料; 关怀; 处理; 注意; 专心[佳句背诵] (2016·全国卷Ⅲ写作佳句)I have just found that I have to attend an important meeting that afternoon.我刚发现那天下午我必须参加一个重要的会议。

品味复原美文——熟读语感出 (加大行距间隙,记录阅读点滴)We have all heard how time is more valuable than money, but is it possible to have too much time?I remember back in high school I spent most of my day at school since I also played a team sport. By the time I got home, I only had a few hours to do my homework, and I had to do it right away. When I got into college, things changed. I suddenly found myself out of class before noon time. Because of all this extra time, there was no sense of urgency to do my school work immediately. I was performing this action of waiting until it later became a habit. Once thathappened, I just kept pushing my studying further and further back in my day. Then I got to the point where I was staying up really late at night to get my work done. One day I met a former classmate of mine who was making a lot of money running a sideline (副业). Since his regular job was boring, I asked him why he just didn ’t do his sideline full-time. He said without the job, he would simply have too much time and would just do what I did back in college. He said that if he quit the job, he would lose his drive to work and succeed. So, try filling up your time with other work. This is why there is a saying that if you want something done, ask a busy person to do it.复现表达词汇——写作词汇储备1.possible adj.可能的 [派生] possibility n .可能,可能性;可能的事[搭配] as ... as possible 尽可能……,越……越好(2013·安徽高考写作佳句) I will also help clean up the roadside litter whenever possible . 只要有可能,我也会帮助清理路边的垃圾。

The Homeless HeroFor many, finding an unattended wallet filled with £400 in cash would be a source oftemptation (诱惑). But the urge would no doubt be greater if you were living on the streets with little food and money. All of this makes the actions of the homeless Tom Smith even more remarkable. After spotting a wallet on the front seat inside a parked car with its window down, he stood guard in the rain for about two hours waiting for the owner to return. After hours in the cold and wet, he reached inside and pulled the wallet out hoping to find some ID so he could contact the driver, only to discover it contained £400 in notes, with another £50 in spare change beside it.He then took the wallet to a nearby police station after leaving a note behind to let the owner know it was safe. When the car ’s owner John Anderson and his colleague Carol Lawrence returned to the car — which was itself worth £35,000 — in Glasgow city centre, they were shocked to find two policemen standing next to it. The policemen told them what Mr.Smith did and that the wallet was safe. The pair were later able to thank Mr.Smith for his kindness.Mr.Anderson said: “I couldn't believe that the guy never took a penny. To think he is sleeping on the streets tonight when he could have stolen the money and paid for a place to stay in. This guy has nothing and yet he didn ’t take the wallet for himself; he thought about others instead. It's unbelievable. It just proves there are honest guys out there.”Mr.Smith ’s act drew much of the public ’s attention. He also won praise from social media users after Mr.Anderson posted about the act of kindness on Facebook. Now Mr. Anderson has set up an online campaign to raise money for Mr.Smith and other homeless people in the area, which by yesterday had received £8,000. “I think the faith thateveryone has shown in him has touched him. People have been approaching him in the street; he ’s had job offers and all sorts ” Mr. Anderson commented. For Mr.Smith, this is a possible life-changing chance. The story once again tells us that one good turn deserves another. 品味复原美文——熟读语感出In 1973, I was teaching elementary school. Each day, 27 kids entered “The Thinking Laboratory.” That was the name students voted for after deciding that “Room 104” was too dull. Freddy was an average student, but not an average person. He had the rare balance of fun and compassion (同情). He would laugh the loudest over fun and be the saddest over anyone's misfortune. Before the school year ended, I gave the kids a special gift, Tshirts with the words “Verbs Are Your Friends”on them. I had advised the kids that while verbs may seem dull, most of the fun things they do throughout their lives will be verbs.Through the years, I’d run into former students who would provide updates on old classmates.I learned that Freddy did several jobs after his graduation from high school and remained the same caring person I met forty years before. Once, while working overnight at a store, he let a homeless man sleep in his truck. Another time, he lent a friend money to buy a house.Just last year, I was conducting a workshop when someone knocked at the classroom door. A woman excused the interruption and handed me an envelope. I stopped teaching and opened it up. Inside were the “Verbs” shirt and a note from Freddy’s mother. “Freddy passed away on Thanksgiving. He wanted you to have this.”I told the story to the class. As sad as it was, I couldn’t help smiling. Although Freddy was taken from us, we all took something from Freddy.复现表达词汇——写作词汇储备1.average adj. 平均的;(能力)一般的n.平均数on average平均来看[背诵] I've got an average sort of car, nothing special. 我的车普普通通,没什么特别之处。

品味复原美文——熟读语感出 Raynor Winn and her husband Moth became homeless due to their wrong investment. Their savings had been used up to pay lawyers ’ fees. To make matters worse, Moth was diagnosed with a serious disease. There was no cure, only pain relief.Failing to find any other way out, they decided to make a walking journey, as they caught sight of an old hikers ’ guide. This was a long journey of unaccustomed hardship and surprising recovery. When leaving home, Raynor and Moth had just £320 in the bank. They planned to keep the budget low by living on boiled noodles, with the occasional hamburger shop treat.Wild camping is illegal in England. To avoid being caught, the Winns had to get their tent up late and packed it away early in the morning. The Winns soon discovered that daily hiking in their 50s is a lot harder than they remember it was in their 20s. Raynor ached all over and desired a bath. Moth, meanwhile, after an initial struggle , found his symptoms were strangely reduced by their daily tiring journey.Eventually, the couple found that their bodies turned for the better, with re-found strong muscles that they thought had lost forever. “Our hair was fried and falling out, nails broken, clothes worn to a thr ead, but we were alive.”During the journey, Raynor began a career as a nature writer. She writes, “Homelessness had taken every material thing from me and left me torn bare, an empty page at the end of a partly written book. It had also given me a choice, either to leave that page blank or to keep writing the story with hope. I chose hope.”复现表达词汇——写作词汇储备1.occasional adj.偶然的,临时的 → occasionally adv.偶尔,间或 (= on occasion)[佳句背诵] (2018· 天津高考写作佳句)Apart from regular training, we ’ll occasionally participate in some national competitions. 除了常规训练,我们有时也会参加一些全国大赛。

高三英语一轮复习阅读每日练习导学案28(适合基础一般的学生)
阅读理解每日练28Doctor are known to be terrible pilots. They don't listen because they already know it all. I was lucky: became a pilot in 1970, almost ten years before I graduated from medical school. I didn't realize then, but being a pilot makes me a better surgeon. I loved flying. As I flew bigger, faster planes, and in worse weather. I learned about crew resource management(机组资源管理),or CRM, a new idea to make flying safer. It means that crew members should listen and speak up for a good result, regardless of positions.I first read about CRM in 1980. Not long after that,an attending doctor and I were flying in bad weather. The controller had us turn too late to get our landing ready. The attending doctor was flying; I was safety pilot. He was so busy because of the bad turn,he had forgotten to put the landing gear(起落架) down. He was a better pilot —and my boss —so it felt unusual to speak up. But I had to: Our lives were in danger. I put aside my uneasiness and said, “We need to put the landing gear down now!” That was my first real lesson in the power of CRM, and I've used it in the operating room ever since.CRM requires that the pilot/surgeon encourage others to speak up. It further requires that when opinions are from the opposite, the doctor doesn't overreact, which might prevent fellow doctors from voicing opinions again. So when I'm in the operating room, I ask for ideas and help from others. Sometimes they're not willing to speak up. But I hope that if I continue to encourage them, someday someone will keep me from "landing gear up".1.What does the author say about doctors in general?A.They like flying by themselves.B.They are unwilling to take advice.C.They pretend to be good pilots.D.They are quick learners of CRM.2.The author deepened his understanding of the power of CRM when .A. he saved the plane by speaking upB. he was in charge of a flying taskC.his boss landed the plane too lateD. his boss operated on a patient3.In the last paragraph "landing gear up" probably means .A.following flying requirementsB.overreacting to different opinionsC.listening to what fellow doctors sayD.making a mistake that may cost lives4. A good stadium? Anything else? What about the food they eat?Eating the right thingA good diet is a fundamental part of sport these days.Aston Villa manager Martin O’Neill’s sport and health experts hav e chosen a secret weapon --- organic food (food grown without chemicals).Fitness manager Jim Henry eats with his players and said: “I chose to switch to organic food for Aston Villa because I’ve read studies showing that organic food has higher levels of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.” He believes that the best way to get these is to eat the very best fresh food. What to eat after the matchHead chef at Aston Villa, lan Edge, feeds players with the best food as soon as they finish an away match. He sa ys: “Food is very important to sports stars and particularly after a game. There is an hour of opportunity when they need to eat to get the best muscle strength, so I hand out meals on the coach on the way home.If we can make one per cent difference to the players by using organic food, then it is worth it.”Teaching healthy eatingEveryone at Aston Villa enjoys organic food at their training ground. But the club is also worried about the unhealthy diet among local children who prefer sweets and unhealthy fast food.As part of their work in the community, Aston Villa has opened up their kitchen andinvited children from local schools to come and learn how to cook with the help of the Villa head chef.Villa midfielder, Nigel ReoCoker, visited the children on the opening day.“The kitchen promotes healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle.” he said.A final word from the kitchenHead chef Ian says: “Footballers know how important food is to their profession and nine times out of ten, they go for the healthiest option.” Do you watch your diet? Back to the U.S.in the form of lending money to the federal government. Those made-in-China goods that account for the trade deficit: Whom do they benefit? China, yes, but also American consumers and companies.Without China, American companies could not have maintained their profitability in recent years.Take two brand names, Caterpillar and Nike. Both have their products made in China, but both also view China as a fast-growing market for their products.George Soros warned recently that a currency war could put the world into disorder more damaging than anything caused by the financial crisis of the 1930s.He’s right.Whether we like it or not, we live in a global system. The zero-sum attitude toward China and its currency is a relic, the remaining of an earlier time when nations defined economic life.China is far from perfect and seeks its own advantage, but holding it accountable for our domestic problems is beyond outdated. It reflects a dangerous refusal to deal with the world as it is.Retaliating against China over currency will not regain high-end jobs in the U.S., which needs more our own demand. It will not renew construction or retool the American labor force. It will not rebuild rotting bridges or create a next-generation energy network.64.Which of the following argument can be supported by the writer?A.China is the winner in the Sino-US trade.B.China’s rapid development over the past ten years is based on its low inflation.C.The world’s economy will benefit from China’s policy changes on its currency.D.The US will get hurt if it tries hard on damaging China’s economy.65.This passage is in a tone that is ____________.A.in favor of ChinaB.in the shoes of USC.blaming China’s low currency policyD.helping IMF solve the world’s economic problem66.The writer makes his point of view clear through the passage by using_____________.A.reasonable analysisB.leaders’ quotationsC.figure examplesD.moving stories67.China’s currency policy ________.A.will help increase the demand in the USB.is unable to equip the American labor force with new working skills C.could guide the world economy for the next decadeD.is to be controlled by the international currency groupsDTake a look at the following list of numbers: 4, 8, 5, 3, 7, 9, 6.Read them loud. Now look away and spend 20 seconds memorizing them in order before saying them out loud again. If you speak English, you have about a 50% chance of remembering those perfectly. If you are Chinese, though, you’re almost certain to get it right every time. Why is that? Because we most easily memorize whatever we can say or read within a two-second period. And unlike English, the Chinese language allows them to fit all those seven numbers into two seconds. That example comes from Stanislas Dahaene’s book The Number Sense. As Dahaene explains: Chinese number words are remarkably brief. Most of them can be spoken out in less than one-quarter of a second (for instance, 4 is “si” and 7 “qi”).Their English pronunciations are longer. The memory gap between English and Chinese apparently is entirely due to this difference in length. It turns out that there is also a big difference in how number-naming systems in Western and Asian languages are constructed. In English, we say fourteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen and nineteen, so one might expect that we would also say oneteen, twoteen, threeteen, and fiveteen. But we don’t.We use a different form: eleven, twelve, thirteen and fifteen. For numbers above 20, we put the “decade” first and the unit number second (twenty-one, twenty-two), while for the teens, we do it the other way around (fourteen, seventeen, eighteen). The number system in English is highly irregular. Not so in China, Japan, and Korea. They have a logical counting system.Eleven is ten-one.Twelve is ten-two.Twenty-four is two-tens-four and so on.That difference means that Asian children learn to count much faster than American children.Four-year-old Chinese children can count, on average, to 40.American children at that age can count only to 15.By the age of five, in other words, American children are already a yearbehind their Asian friends in the most fundamental of math skills. The regularity of their number system also means that Asian children can perform basic functions, such as addition, far more easily.Ask an English-speaking seven-year-old to add thirty-seven plus twenty-two in her head, and she has to change the words to numbers (37+22).Only then can she do the math: 2 plus 7 is 9 and 30 and 20 is 50, which makes 59.Ask an Asian child to add three-tens-seven and two-tens-two, and then the necessary equation(式) is right there, in the sentence. No number translation is necessary: it’s five-tens-nine.When it comes to math, in other words, Asians have a built-in advantage. For years, students from China, South Korea, and Japan --- outperformed their Western classmates at mathematics, and the typical assumption is that it has something to do with a kind of Asian talent for math. The differences between the number systems in the East and the West suggest something very different --- that being good at math may also be rooted in a group’s culture.68.What does the passage mainly talk about?A.The Asian number-naming system helps grasp advanced math skills better.B.Western culture fail to provide their children with adequate number knowledge.C.Children in Western countries have to learn by heart the learningthings.D.Asian children’s advantage in math may be sourced from their culture.69.What makes a Chinese easier to remember a list of numbers than anAmerican?A.Their understanding of numbers.B.Their mother tongue.C.Their math education.D.Their different IQ.n children can reach answers in basic math functions more quicklybecause ____________.A.they pronounce the numbers in a shorter periodB.they practice math from an early ageC.English speaking children translate language into numbers first D.American children can only count to 15 at the age of four第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,共10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的七个选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

品味复原美文——熟读语感出For a long time Gabriel didn't want to be involved in music at all. In his first years of high school, Gabriel would look pityingly at the music students, struggling across the campus with their heavy instrument cases, turning up at school for practice hours before anyone else had to be there. He swore to himself to avoid music, as he hated getting to school extra early. However, one day, in the music class that was part of his school's standard curriculum, he was playing idly (随意地) on the piano and found it easy to pick out tunes. With a sinking feeling, he realized that he actually enjoyed doing it. He tried to hide his obvious pleasure from the music teacher, who had wandered over to listen. He might not have done this particularly well, because the teacher told Gabriel that he had a good ear and suggested that Gabriel go into the music store-room to see if any of the instruments there appealed to him. There he decided to give the cello (大提琴) a chance. When he began practicing, he took it very casually. But he quickly found that he loved playing this instrument, and was committed to practicing it so that within a couple of months he was playing reasonably well. This meant, of course, that he arrived at school early in the morning, dragging his heavy instrument case across the campus to the pitying looks of the non-musicians he had left behind.复现表达词汇——写作词汇储备1.struggle vi.&n. 斗争;拼搏;努力;挣扎&n. 奋斗→struggle against/with 同…斗争struggle for为…而奋斗struggle to do sth. 努力做某事struggle to one's feet 挣扎着站起来[佳句背诵](2010·湖南高考单选改编)Dina, having struggled for months to find a job as a waitress, finally took a position at a local advertising agency.
