新概念一27课课文原文The wonderful lampThere was a young man called Aladdin. He came from a poor family, but he fell in love with a beautiful princess. The princess's father, the Sultan, would not allow them to marry. One day, Aladdin was walking in the market when he met an old man. "Are you Aladdin?" the old man asked him. "Yes, I am," answered Aladdin. "I have been looking for you," said the old man. "I am your uncle. Your father was my brother. He told me to look for you and give you this wonderful lamp." "Thank you," said Aladdin, taking the lamp. He had no idea that the lamp was magic. When Aladdin arrived home, he rubbed the lamp and a genie appeared. "Your wish is my command," said the genie. "What can I do for you?" Aladdin was amazed. "I want a beautiful palace for my princess and me," he said. The genie nodded and in a moment, they were standing outside a beautiful palace. The princess was overjoyed. She knew that Aladdin must be a rich man to have such a palace. Aladdin invited the Sultan to his palace and asked him to let him marry his daughter. The Sultan, seeing the palace, agreed. Aladdin and the princess were married and they lived happily in the palace. One day, the Sultan came to the palace to visit his daughter. Aladdin forgot to light the candles in the palace, and it was dark. "What a terrible palace! My daughter cannot live here," said the Sultan. Aladdin was very upset. He was afraid the Sultan would take his princess away from him. He remembered the magic lamp and rubbed it. The genie appeared and asked, "What is your wish, my master?" "I want the palace to be full of beautifulcandles," said Aladdin. The genie waved his hand and the palace was full of light. The Sultan was amazed! From that day on, Aladdin and the princess lived happily ever after, with the magic lamp to help them whenever they needed it.。
