However, despite years of competition in overseas markets, Japan's cellphone makers have little presence beyond the country's shores. “Japan is years ahead in any innovation. But it hasn't been able to get business out of it,”said Gerhard Fasol, president of the Tokyo-based IT consulting firm, Eurotechnology Japan. This year, Mr Natsuno, who developed a popular wireless Internet service called i-Mode, invited some of the best minds in the field to debate how Japanese cellphones can go global.Yet Japan's lack of global influence is all the more surprising because its cellphones set the pace in almost every industry innovation: e-mail capabilities in 1999, camera phones in 2000, third-generation networks in 2001, full music downloads in 2002, electronic payments in 2004 anddigital TV in 2005. “The most amazing thing about Japan is that even the average person out there will have a superadvanced phone,” said Mr Natsuno. “So we're asking, can't Japan build on that advantage?”Japan has 100 million users of advanced third-generation smart phones, twice the number used in the United States, a much larger market. Many Japanese rely on their phones, not a PC, for Internet access.Indeed, Japanese makers thought they had positioned themselves to dominate the age of digital data. But Japanese cellphone makers were a little too clever. In the 1990s, they set a standard for the second-generation network that was refused everywhere else. Then Japan quickly adopted a third-generation standard in 2001. However, it made Japanese phones too advanced for most markets. At a recent meeting of Mr Natsuno's group, the discussion turned to the cellphones themselves. Despite their advanced hardware, they often have ugly interfaces (界面), some participants said.“Because each cellphone model is designed with a customized user interface, development is time-consuming and expensive,”said Tetsuzo Matsumoto, senior executive vice president. “Japan's phones are all …handmade‟ from scratch,” he said. “That's__reaching__the__limit.”13. Why were Japanese cellphone makers a little too clever?A. Because their technical standards couldn't be accepted in overseas markets.B. Because they didn't want to improve their products.C. Because they used second-generation network earlier than others.D. Because their phones couldn't be connected to PC.14. What's the disadvantage of Japanese cellphones?A. Their interfaces fall behind the fashion.B. They are too expensive.C. They are always out of order.D. Their hardware can't keep up with the development.15. What does the underlined sentence in the last paragraph mean?A. Japan's phones have too many functions.B. Japan's phones can't continue their history any longer.C. Japan's phones have been developed far enough.D. Japan's phones have been out of state.第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能坡入空白处的最佳选项。

高中英语真题:2014-2015年度高一上学期月考第I卷第一部分听力(共两节,满分30分)(略)第二部分阅读理解(共两节,满分40分)第一节(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。
AMy students often tell me that they do not have “enough time”to do all their schoolwork. My reply is often a brief “You have as much time as the president.” I usually carry on a bit about t here being twenty four hours in the day for everyone, and sug gest that “not enough time” is not an acceptable explanation o f not getting something done.Once in graduate school, I tried to justify (证明......有理) myself to one of my professors by saying that I was workin g hard. His answer to me was, “That's irrelevant(和……不相关的). What's important is the quality of your work.” Since then I have had time to reflect on the “h ard worker” dodge (妙计),and I have come to some conclusions, all relevant to the issu e of how much time we have.If you look at the matter analytically, you can identify two part s of the problem: There is, of course, the matter of “time”, w hich we can think of as fixed. Then there is the issue of “work” during that time, which can vary in intensity. But, as my profe ssor suggested, it's not the diligence(勤奋) of the work but the quality of the product that's important. That led me to a new idea: the quality of the work. That conce pt is perhaps best explained by a sign I once saw on the wall i n someone's office: “Don't work harder. Work smarter.” There' s a lot of sense in that idea.If you can't get more time, and few of us can, the only solution is to improve the quality of the work. That means devising(想出) ways of getting more out of the same time than we might otherwise get. That should lead us to an analysis of our work habits. Since “work” for students usually means “homework”, the expression “work habits” should be read as “study habit s”.Then, as a smart student, you will seek to improve those skills that you use in study, chiefly reading and writing. If you learn to read better and write better, there are big benefits that pay off across the board in all your studies.21.From the passage, we know that the author is most prob ably ______.A.a poet B.an educatorC.a novelist D.an engineer22.We can infer from the second paragraph that students sti ll ______.A.have enough timeB.can meet the presidentC.can get something done wellD.should accept the teacher's suggestion23.Which of the following would be the best title for the pass age?A.Not an Acceptable ExplanationB.Don't Work Harder. Work SmarterC.An Analysis of Our Work HabitsD.Read Better And Write BetterBMake A Difference Day is the largest national day of communi ty service in the , which takes place on the fourth Saturday of October.Who takes part in Make A Difference Day?Anyone! Young and old, individuals and groups, anyone can c arry out a volunteer project that helps others. It might be as a mbitious as collecting truckloads of clothing for the homeless, or as personal as spending an afternoon helping an elderly ne ighbor or relative. WEEKEND covers volunteers and their pro jects in articles and photos. How do I get started?Look around your community. Are people hungry, homeless o r ill? Are parks or schools dirty or neglected? A festival brochure.25.Make A Difference Day ________.A. is celebrated every year all over the worldB. is a service provided by the communityC. is a celebration of helpful neighborsD. is a national day of doing good in26.It can be inferred from the text that volunteers ________.A. are chosen carefully by WEEKENDB. need to dress up on Make A Difference DayC. can get good project ideas from Hands On NetworkD. take pictures to send them to news media for money 27.The main purpose of the text is to ________.A. introduce the origin of Make A Difference DayB. instruct people how to select a proper project ideaC. promote Make A Difference Day to other countriesD. encourage individuals to join in Make A Difference DayCYou wake up in the morning, the day is beautiful and the plan s for the day are what you have been looking forward to for a l ong time. Then the telephone rings, you say hello, and the dra ma starts. The person on the other end has a depressing(压抑的) tone in his voice as he starts to tell you how terrible his morning is and that there is nothing to look forward to. You ar e still in a wonderful mood? Impossible!Communicating with negative(消极的;负面的) people can wash out your happiness. It may not change what you think, but communicating long enough with them will make you feel depressed for a moment or a long time.Life brings ups and downs, but some people are stuck in the wrong idea that life has no happiness to offer. They only feel glad when they make others feel bad. No wonder they can ha rdly win others' pity or respect. When you communicate with positive people, your spirit stays happy and therefore more positive things are attracted. Whenthe dagger(匕首) of a negative person is put in you, you feel the heavy feeli ng that all in all, brings you down.Sometimes we have no choice but to communicate with negat ive people. This could be a co-worker, or a relative. In this case, say what needs to be said a s little as possible. Sometimes it feels good to let out your ang er back to the negative person, but all this does is to lower yo u to that same negative level and they won't feel ashamed of t hemselves about that.Negativity often affects happiness without even being realized . The negative words of another at the start of the day can clin g to(附着) you throughout the rest of your day, which makes you feel bad and steals your happiness. Life is too short to feel negati ve. Stay positive and avoid negativity as much as possible. 28.The purpose of the first paragraph is to ______. A.make a comparison B.offer an evidence C.introduce a topic D.describe a daily scene 29.How can negative people have effect on us?A.By influencing our emotion.B.By telling us the nature of life.C.By changing our ways of thinking.D.By comparing their attitudes to life with others. 30.Some negative people base their happiness on ______. A.other people's pity for themB.making other people unhappyC.building up a positive attitudeD.other people's respect for them31. According to the passage, to reduce negative people's infl uence on us, we areadvised to ______.A.change negative people's attitudes to lifeB.show our dissatisfaction to negative peopleC.make negative people feel ashamed of themselves D.communicate with negative people as little as possibleDIn choosing a friend, one should be very careful. A good frien d can help you study. You can have fun together and make e ach other happy. Sometimes you will meet fair weather friend s. They will be with you as long as you have money or luck, b ut when you are down, they will run away. How do I know whe n I have found a good friend? I look for certain qualities (品质) of character, especially understanding, honesty and reliabi lity (可靠).Above all else, I look for understanding in a friend. A good frie nd tries to understand how another person is feeling. He is no t quick to judge. Instead, he tries to learn from others. He puts himself in the other person's place, and he tries to think of wa ys to be helpful. He is also a good listener. At the same time, however, a good friend is honest. He does not look for faults (过错) in others. He notices their good points. In short, a friend wi ll try to understand me and accept me.Another quality of a friend is reliability. I can always depend o n (信赖) a good friend. If he tells me he will meet me somewhere at a certain time, I can be sure that he will be there. If I need a f avor, he will do his best to help me. If I am in trouble, he will n ot run away from me.There is a fourth quality that makes a friend special. A special friend is someone with whom we can have fun. We should en joy our lives, and we would enjoy our friendship. That is why I especially like friends who are fun to be with. A good friend lik es the same things I like. We share experience (经验) and learn from each other. A good friend has a good sense of humor (幽默), too. He likes to laugh with me. That is how we share in th e joy of being friends. And I know that he is looking for the sa me quality in me.When I meet someone who is reliable, honest, and understan ding, I know I've found a friend!32. Today computers are getting smaller and smaller. But they work faster and faster. What can computers do? A writer has said, “People can’t live without computers today.”The Internet came a little later than computers. It is about twenty-five years later than computers. But now it can be found almost everywhere. We can use it to read books, write letters, do shopping, play games or make friends. Many students like the Internet very much. They often go into the Internet as soon as they are free. They make friends on the Internet and maybe they have never seen these friends. They don’t know their real names, ages and even sex (性别) .They are so interested in making the “unreal friends” that they can’t put their hearts into study. All these words, you can see, have the same root “port”,which comes from the Latin word meaning “to carry or to move from one place to another”. And according to the bit at the beginning——which we call the prefix (前缀) themeaning changes: “import” means “to carry in” “to bring into a country”; in “export”, “ex” means “out of, so this word means” to carry out of a country”; “re” means “back”, so the word “report” means “to tell somebody, to bring back information to somebody”; in “transport”, “trans” means “across” and it means “to carry across from one place to another”. Let’s look at the following words: supporter, reporter, importer and exporter. You can see that in this case these words are nouns which are made up of the verbs plus a suffix (后缀) thus meaning a person who completes the verb. So a supporter means somebody who supports. A reporter is somebody who reports. And an importer is somebody who imports and an exporter is somebody who exports, and so on.44. The word “______” means “进口” in Chinese.A.export B.import C.Report D.transport45. “Some English words are made up of the same part…” In the sentence “part” means ______.A.Beginning B.ending C.Root D.meaning46. My idea never seems to go farther than ties, pens or cards. But, strangely enough, it did not take me long to decide on Tom’s birthday present. For the first time in life, I had a good idea ... I would buy him a bottle of champagne (香槟酒). Before the party began, Tom suggested that I should open the bottle. I put it between my knees and began to pull, but it remained unmoved. Soon a lot of people gathered round to watch the fight between me and the bottle. I could hear all kinds of “helpful” suggestions from them like “Break the top off”, “Use your teeth”, etc. But I was losing the fight. We were fighting on the-floor together, when all of a sudden there was aloud: “Pop” and the cork (塞子) shot up into the air, while the angry bottle showered (淋) everybody with champagne.48. Of course, you save time by reading fast, but this is not the main reason for fast reading. The main reason is that you understand better what you are reading when you read fast.As your eyes move along the line of print, they make fixations (固定) or pauses. It is important that you see several words at a fixation. It is also important that your eyes leave a group of words quickly and move on to another group. The number of letters or words that you see at a fixation is called your eye span. Pay more attention to improving your rate of reading. With practice you can learn to read faster than you usually read. The way in which you read always depends on what you are reading and for what purpose. You should know the different ways of reading so that you can apply whatever method that is necessary. Here are four ways of reading:(1) Skimming is an important kind of reading. This method can be used when you wish to review something that you have forgotten. You can skim to get the main points.(2) Rapid first reading and then rereading certain parts carefully is important. You may use this type of reading to study a science lesson or a history lesson.(3) You need to do careful reading and rereading sometimes. This type of reading is necessary for making an intensive (精深的) study of your school subjects, solving maths problems or reading directions.(4) Rapid reading is used when reading stories for enjoyment. You may also do rapid reading when reviewing material that you already know well.52. The main reason for reading fast is that you can ______ what you are fast reading.A.get the ideas B.save time C.understand better D.learn well53. The way of reading always depends on ______.A.the method that you like B.your reading materialC.your reading purpose D.both B and C54. The underlined word ”skimming" in the fourth paragraph means ______.A.reading very fast B.looking carefullyC.reading only the main points D.reading some parts of the material55. Careful reading is an important kind of reading ______.A.when you read a story for enjoymentB.when you go over a lesson that you have already known wellC.when you read the directions before using a camera which is expensiveD.when you wish to find a lost place that you have readMaybe you are an average student. You probably think you will never be a top student. This is not necessarily so, however. Anyone can become a better student if he or she wants to. Here’s how.1).Plan your time carefully. When you plan your week, you should make a list of things that you have to do. After making this list, you should make a schedule of your time. Don’t forget to set aside enough time for entertainment. A weekly schedule may not solve all your problems, but it will force you to realize what is happening to your time.2).Find a good place of to study. Look around the house for a good study area. Keep this space, which may be a desk or simply a corner of your room, free of everything but study materials. No games, radios, or television! When you sit down to study, concentrate on the subject.3) Make good use of your time in class. Listen to everything the teachers say. Really listening in class means less work later. Taking notes will help you remember what the teacher says.4). Study regularly. When you get home from school, go over your notes. Review the important points that your teacher mentioned in class. If you know what your teacher is going to discuss the next day, read that material. This will help you understand the next class. If you do these things regularly, the material will become more meaningful, and you will remember it longer.5). Develop a good attitude about tests. The purpose of a test is to show what you have learned abouta subject. They help you rem ember your new knowledge. The world won’t end if you don’t pass a test, so don’t be over worried. There are other methods that might help you with your studying. You will probably discover many others after you have tried these. How to become a better student车、自行车或步行等绿色交通方式来代替开私家车。
