Entering the 21st century, man is now in an age of information and knowledge. In such an age, interpersonal communication plays an increasingly important role and all people have to communicate with others. Distance used to be the main barrier that shuts people off from each other. Just imagine the effort it would take to deliver a letter from a province to another in ancient times. Even when we have cars to transport our correspondence it still takes months to send and receive a letter from a far away relative or friend. And it is very likely to lose your letter during the transport. So at those times a letter really weighs much heavier than now it does.

What is it that makes our communication much easier? Everyone could give you the answer wi thout thinking. It’s technology. With the appearance of the phone, the computer and the internet our life changes. Moreover, our way of communication changes enormously. Communication can take place anywhere any time as long as you have a access to internet. We chat via qq with our friend. We write an E-mail to our friend instead of writing a letter. Why? Because with a few simple clicks you can send your message to anyone in a second for free. We can say that internet provides us a huge and vast communication platform.

Dear Mr. Zhang,

We have held a discussion about whether it is good or not for a top student to share a desk with a slower student.

Some are for the idea. As they know, everyone has strengths as well as weaknesses. Although they are not good at lessons, they might do well in other fields like sports or arts. Therefore, they can learn from each other, and they may develop a friendship. In addition, top students can help slower ones gain self-confidence by helping them with their lessons, which benefits them all.

Howeve r, others don’t hold the same view. They think some slower students are always making trouble, such as keeping talking in class, breaking school rules, which may lead to them forming the bad habits. Besides, slower students often ask top students questions, which has a bad effect on their studies.

In my opinion, I’d like to choose to share a desk with a slower student so that we can learn from each other and make progress together.

In the past, people kept in touch with each other mainly by writing letters or using the public telephone. But now almost everyone has his own mobile phone. People can communicate with each other almost at any place and at any time.

What’s more, peop le have easy access to the Internet, which enables them to send and receive e-mails whenever they like. With these changes, people’s pace of life has been quickened and people’s work has been made more efficient. It used to take several days to hear from each other, but now it takes only several minutes, even if they are in two different countries.

But every coin has two sides, various ways of communication also bring bad effects, to begin with, some people are addicted into the communication tools such as mobile phones, computers to do some other things. Besides, people spend much less time communicating with others face to face, which may cause more misunderstanding. In a word, people had better choose the ways of communication reasonably.
