Good morning everyone. Today, it’s our pleasure to talk to you about our presentation. My name is Sharon and my partner is Amy. Today, we’d like to talk about the world’s least developed countries-Bangladesh. We will be focusing in particular on the issue of a lack of safe drinking water. We’d like to begin by providing you with a general snapshot of the country. We will then move on to highlight the UN’s Millennium Development Goal of providing safe drinking water.
We’d like to introduce you to the problem of a lack of safe drinking water in Bangladesh. Our presentation has six main parts. In the first part, I will tell you about the background information in Bangladesh. And then, I can explain the significant problem, the causes and effects. Next, my partner will talk about the MDG progress in Bangladesh. Then, she will show you how Bangladesh compares with the rest of the world and give some possible solutions. Finally, my partner will review the main information and conclusion.
If you have any questions you can ask us, we will answer your question at the end of our presentation. Now let’s look at the background information in this country.
Bangladesh is a small country in southern Asia. It’s climate is very moist. The total size of this country is 144,000sqKM. The capital is Dhaka, there are about 156million people. They often speak English and believe in Islam.
Let me show you the significant problem. The main reason for this is pollution. Due to pollution, many people get diseases. People haven’t protected the environment well, so much drinking water was polluted. It leads to people having no access to safe drinking water.
Let me now move on to the causes and effects. Water pollution is very serious and it can lead to animals dieing and plants can’t live. Because there is a lack of advanced technology, people can’t deal with water pollution. The poor economy makes the country more fall behind. And then, rapid population growth leads to many people can’t get enough safe drinking water.
Let’s turn to Amy, she will tell you about the MDG progress and solutions.
