What kind of rubbish are you?" This question might normally cause anger, but in Shanghai it was brought about weary complaints over the past few months. On July 1st, the city introduced strict rubbish-sorting regulations that are expected to be used as a model for our country. Citizens must divide their waste into four separate categories and put it into specific public bins. They must do so at scheduled times, when monitors are present to ensure that rules are obeyed and to examine the nature of one's rubbish.Violators could be hit with fines of up to 200 yuan ($29). For repeat violators, the city can add black marks to their credit records, making it harder for them to obtain hank loans or even buy train tickets.Shanghai authorities are responding to obvious environmental problem. It produces 9 million tons of garbage a year. But like other cities in china, it lacks a recycling system. Instead, it has relied on rubbish pickers to pick out whatever can be reused. This has limits. As people get wealthier, fewer of them want to do such dirty work. The waste, meanwhile, just keeps piling up. China produces 80 billion pairs of one-off chopsticks a year. Many citizens appear to support the idea of recycling in general but are frustrated by the details. Rubbish must be divided according to whether it is food, recyclable, dry or hazardous(有害的), the distinctions among which can be confusing, though there are apps to help work it out. Some have complained about the rules surrounding food waste. They must put it straight in the required public bin, forcing them to tear open plastic bags and toss(投掷)it by hand, Most annoying are the short periods for throwing trash, typically a couple of hours, morning and evening. Along with the monitors at the bins, this means that people go at around the same time and can keep an eye on what is being thrown out; no one wants to look bad.(1)What's the purpose of Paragraph 1?A. To complain about rubbish dividing.B. To explain the four categories of the waste.C. To introduce the rules on waste sorting.D. To show the goal of rubbish, sorting regulations.(2)What does the underlined word "Violators" in Paragraph 2 refer to?A. People who don't pay for train tickets.B. People who argue with the monitors.C. People who obtain bank loans.D. People who are against the regulations.(3)What makes the citizens upset most about the rules?A. Complex distinction among the four categories of rubbish.B. Short scheduled time for tossing rubbish.C. Being observed by monitors when throwing the garbage.D. Being fined when blamed due to improper behavior.(4)What can be the best title for the text?A. A Restart of Waste-sortingB. A New Age of Garbage ClassificationC. Learning to Classify RubbishD. Rubbish-sorting Benefits the World【答案】(1)C(2)D(3)B(4)B【解析】【分析】本文是一篇新闻报道,介绍了7月1日上海市出台的垃圾分类规定,有望成为我国的一个典范。

She had requested the community to turn it into a museum upon her death. On a sunny Saturday, Sally and I drove over to the museum. She asked, "Do you have the address?" "No,but I'll recognize it; there was a picture in the magazine.""Oh, stop. There it is!"The museum was free. We entered, excited. A group of people sitting in the hall stopped talking and stared at us."May I help you?" a man asked. "No," I said. "We're fine." Tour guides got on my nerves. What if they talked a long time about a painting you weren't that interested in? Sally had gone upstairs. The people in the hall seemed very nosy(爱窥探的), keeping their eyes on me with curiosity. What was their problem? I saw some nice sculptures in one room. Suddenly I sensed a man standing behind me. "Where do you think you are?" he asked. I turned sharply. "The McNay Art Museum!" He smiled, shaking his head. "Sorry, the McNay is on New Braunfels Street." "What's this place?" I asked, still confused. "Well, it's our home." My heart jolted(颤动). I raced to the staircase and called out, "Sally! Come down immediately!""There's some really good stuff up there." She stepped down, looking confused. I pushed her toward the front door, waving at the family, saying, "Sorry, please forgive us. You have a really nice place." Outside, when Itold Sally what happened, she covered her mouth, laughing. She couldn't believe how long they let us look around without saying anything. The real McNay was splendid, but we felt nervous the whole time we were there. Van Gogh, Picasso. This time, we stayed together, in case anything else unusual happened.Thirty years later, a woman approached me in a public place. "Excuse me, did you ever enter a residence, long ago, thinking it was the McNay Museum?""Yes. But how do you know? We never told anyone.""That was my home. I was a teenager sitting in the hall. Before you came over, I never realized what a beautiful place I lived in. I never felt lucky before. You thought it was a museum. My feelings about my home changed after that. I've always wanted to thank you."(1)What do we know about Marian McNay?A. She passed away.B. She worked as a community leader.C. She helped in the museum.D. Frightened and upset.D. Delighted and excited.(4)What could we learn from the last paragraph?A. People should have good taste to enjoy life.B. People should spend more time with their family.C. People tend to be blind to the beauty around them.D. People tend to educate teenagers at a museum.14.(8分)"When I grow up, I want to be a runner." These words are spoken by thousands of Kenyan children. 50 percent of the Kenyan top runners are members of Kalenjin, one minority race of the country. They make up less than two percent of Kenya's population. This fact has puzzled sports scientists. They have spent considerable time and effort trying to answer one question: What enables the Kalenjin people to run so fast?Although the question seems simple, finding the answer has proven to be difficult and controversial.A team of Danish sports scientists spent 18 months and discovered the Kalenjins had remarkably slow heart rates even when running long distances. Kalenjins live in high﹣elevation(高海拔)villages in the Rift Valley in westernKenya. People living at high elevations produce more red blood cells, which aid in the transport of oxygenthroughout the body. Because the air is thinner and contains less oxygen at high elevations, the body produces more red blood cells. Scientists believe there is a connection between increased red blood cells and low heart rates and that both may enable high﹣altitude athletes to outperform those who train at low altitudes. The Danish scientists also studied the bodies of the Kalenjins and compared them to those of the Danes. They found that the Kalenjins have longer "birdlike" legs. The Kalenjins also have lower body mass indexes (a measure of body fat based on weight and height) and shorter bodies than Danish people. As a result of the Danish study, some scientists made the conclusion that the Kalenjins possess what is called a "speed gene(基因)". However, Kenyan runners were offended by this conclusion. They owed their success to hard work and endless hours of training.Although the controversy over the "speed gene" remains unsolved, British runner Mo Farah's experience offers an interesting perspective on the subject. In 2005, he realized he wasn't meeting his potential as a runner. A group of Kenyan runners were training in England then. After he accidentally observed the Kenyans' strict training routines and dedication to their sport, Farah said it was like a switch had been turned on in his head. He began eating healthy foods, going to bed early, and training harder than he had ever trained in his life. As a result, Farah's running career exploded. He has won seven world and Olympic titles in the 5000m and regularly beats Kenya's top runners!Farah's story proves what Kenyans have known all along. Regardless of genetics, their success would not be possible without hard work, dedication, sacrifice, and mental toughness. Their "secret" is simple. Train hard, run fast, and never give up.(1)What interested the sport scientists?A. Kenyan sport history.B. Kanlenjins' running ability.C. Kanlenjins' training methods.D. Kenyans' enthusiasm for sport.(2)According to Danish scientists, what leads to Kanlenjins' success?A. Physical condition.B. Living style.C. Hard training.D. Strong will.(3)How did Kenyan runners think about Danish research result?A. Convincing.B. Unacceptable.C. Astonishing.D. Important.(4)Why is Mo Farah's story mentioned in the passage?A. To show running methods count.B. To encourage British athletes.C. To prove effort pays off.D. To support gene theory.15.(8分)By now, we are all aware that social media has had a tremendous influence on our culture, in business,on the world﹣at﹣large. Social media websites revolutionized the way people communicate and socialize on the Web. However, aside from seeing your friends' new baby on Facebook, or reading about Justin Bieber's latest conflict with the law on Twitter, what are some of the real influences?Social networks offer the opportunity for people to re﹣connect with their old friends and acquaintances, make new friends, share ideas and pictures, and many other activities. Users can keep pace with the latest global and local developments and participate in campaigns and activities of their choice. Professionals use social media sites likeLinkedIn to enhance their career and business development. Students can work together with their peers to improve their academic and communication skills.Unfortunately, there are a few downsides too to social networking. If you are not careful, immoral people can target you for cyber bullying and disturbance on social sites. School children, young girls, and women can fall victim to online attacks which can create tension and suffering. If you are a victim of cyber bullying, do not take it lying down, but try to take appropriate legal action against the attacker. Many companies have blocked social networks as addicted employees can distract themselves on such sites, instead of focusing on work. In fact, studies show that British companies have lost billions of dollars per year in productivity because of social media addiction among employees. Also, what you carelessly post on the Net can come back to trouble you. Revealing(泄露) personal information on social sites can make users vulnerable(易受伤害的) to crimes like identity theft, stalking, etc. Many companies perform a background check on the Web before hiring an employee. If a potential employee has posted something embarrassing on social media, it can greatly affect their chances of getting the job. The same holds true for our relationships too, as our loved ones and friends may get to know if we post something undesirable on social networks.Social media has its advantages and drawbacks as each coin has two sides. It is up to each user to use social sites wisely to enhance their professional and Social life, and exercise caution to ensure they do not fall victim to online dangers.(1)Paragraph 2 mainly shows that social networks.A. benefit users in various waysB. offer professionals good chancesC. guide users to make right choicesD. help students finish their homework(2)Faced with problems caused by social media, some companies.A. take legal action against the attackersB. avoid posting embarrassing informationC. refuse to hire potential addicted employeesD. forbid the use of social networks during work time(3)The main purpose of this passage is to.A. share experiences in using social mediaB. provide some advice on social problemsC. raise public awareness of social problemsD. remind people to wisely use social media(4)Which of the following shows the development of ideas in this passage?A.B.C.D.I: Introduction P: Point Sp: Sub﹣point 选项中有两项为多余选项.16.(10分)Where did your family eat dinner last night? In the car on the way to sport? At McDonald's? Or at the dinner table? A survey taken a few years ago found that 28% families ate dinner together at home seven nights a week. Another quarter said they ate together three or fewer nights a week.Once upon a time the situation was different.(1) Plates, forks and spoons would be laid out. As dinner time approached, an increasing number of hungry mouths would begin to appear with the question, "What's for dinner?"(2) The data seems to point to two main issues: overworked parents and overscheduled children. When mum or dad do get home in the evening, they are soon in the car again to send the children to soccer, music, tutoring, and a host of other events. This nightly ceremony around the dinner table is both vital and fruitful; it is what keeps a family together. Sure, the conversation is not always significant and children argue. And sometimes the deepest and most meaningful times in a family are not at the table at all.(3)The dinner table is the place where a family builds anidentity. Stories are passed down, jokes are exchanged and the wider world is examined through the lens (镜头)of a family's values. Children pick up vocabulary and a sense of how conversation is structured.(4)Dinner time is "family time". Coming back daily to the same place helps gain familiarity. The significance of dinner time is more than above. Studies show that the more families eat together, the less likely the children are to smoke, drink, get depressed, and develop eating disorders, and the more likely they are to do well in school and learn how to socialize. One professor at Rutgers University in New Jersey stated, "(5)"So start by planning some stay at home family dinners together. Just family talk.A. A meal is a time for parents to civilize their children.B. Each night the dining table would be set with a simple cloth.C. Why not cut back on a few activities and have dinner with your family?D. Item Name: The Old Gate of No.4 High SchoolBrief Introduction:Built in 1930, the old gate of Beijing No.4 High is completed during the same period as the school hall. It was originally located in the east of our school, No.__ of Xishiku Alley. There has been a gate of the playground to the north of the old school gate. Walking through the Old School Gate, the mail office can be seen at the right hand side. Right in the opposite locates the second gate with corridor, right of which sits the old office of headmaster. The old school gate is clearly outlined with grey bricks, representing simplicity and sobriety. The combination of straight lines and curves perfectly creates the rhythm of architecture; the details of the indoor decorations are also full of rich meanings. The old School Gate is a classic work of modern Beijing architecture. The Old School Gate was torn down in 1997 because of the school expansion. T o keep its original scene, the Beijing No.4 High School Alumni Association and Alumni Foundation advocated rebuilding an exact duplication of the old gate in the current place which is on the road to the playground. This proposal is supported by the management team of school and funded by the donation of the Alumni Association and Alumni Foundation.Rock of MottoIn commemoration of the centenary anniversary, Beijing No.4 High School acquired a great moraine in the year of 2006, from Jiuzhi County, Qinghai Province, where Yangtze River and Y ellow River start to flow separately. Engraved with the school motto from Wang Daoyuan, the first President of our school, the rock is designed to inspire the students to work hard and make contributions to the peace and development of our nation and all human beings. The School Motto: Diligence, Meticulosity, Democracy and Innovation. As soon as Mr. Wang Daoyuan, the first principal of the school, took office, he instructed students to “learn science, learn about the world, and learn how to be a real man”.: Bronze statue of TeamworkThis work originated from one of the essays of Xue Chuanxin, an alumnus of 1956. The essay’s title is “Tug of war”. With the image ofeight equal-heighted teenagers in a tug of war game, the statue symbolizes the team spirit, fortitude and hardiness of teenagers. It expresses vividly that team spirit is the key to success.Stone of Love for the OlympicsThis stone was obtained from Mount T ai in China. On the top of the stone inlays the copper statue of Charles de Coubertin, Father of modern Olympics; the inscriptions on the side are the signatures of all members of the International Olympic Committee who visited BHSF on February 22nd, 2001. In the middle are the inscriptions of the president Jacques Rogge of International Olympic Committee on August 6th, 2007.School Morality CodeIndependence, self motivation, responsibility and diligence are the foundations of a human being. Cooperation, unity, morality and justice are the guarantees to success. The decision is yours. Choose wisely. The Old Headmaster’s OfficeThe Ol d Headmaster’s Office was built earlier than the old School Hall (which is completed in 1930). However, the specific year is unknown. The interior design emphasizes simplicity, space and brightness. Located in front of a square, the Old Headmaster’s Office affords a broader view. There have been a line of bungalows to the northeast of it, used as the office for general affairs. T o the southeast of the old Headmaster Office is the second School Gate. The Headmaster’s Office stands in the shades of the trees, as the best example of modesty. However, it is also highly respectful and endearing in the bottom of students’ hearts.Proposed by the Alumni Association and Alumni Foundation and under the support of school management team, the old Headmaster Office was rebuilt in 1992.Mr. Liu Jingkun and Mr. Zhang Zie were the chemistry teacher and physics teacher of Beijing No.4 High School. They shared a great reputation for their rigorous and scientific teaching methods as well as their modest and plain personality. As outstanding representatives of hardworking teachers and staffs in BeijingBeijing No.4 High Culture CorridorThis corridor is built in 1985 along with the other new buildings at that time. Its total length is__ meters. T o commemorate the centenary anniversary of Beijing No.4 High School, the school rebuilt and redesigned the corridor in 2006.
