1My Fun Summer VacationThe summer holidays were so much fun! I had an amazing time with my family and friends. We did lots of exciting things and went to many cool places. I'm going to tell you all about my awesome summer adventures.First, my family went on a trip to beautiful Hangzhou. We stayed at a nice hotel right next to the famous West Lake. The view was breathtaking! The water was so clear and the willow trees hung over the edges. We rented a boat and rowed around the lake. I tried rowing but it was harder than I thought. My little brother just played games on my dad's phone the whole time. Typical! The next day, we went hiking on some of the trails around the lake. The scenery was like a painting, with ancient bridges, pagodas, and gardens everywhere. We stopped for lunch and ate delicious xiaolongbao dumplings. After that long hike, they tasted so good! On the way back to the hotel, we saw a streetperformer doing incredible acrobatics. He could bend his body in half! I don't know how that's even possible.A couple days later, we visited my grandparents in their village outside the city. It's a small farming town where they grow rice, vegetables, and fruit. My grandpa showed me how to catch fish with a net in the little stream behind their house. I wasn't very good at it but I loved being outside in nature. My grandma cooked the most amazing meals using ingredients from their garden. The tomatoes and strawberries were the freshest I've ever tasted. In the evenings, we sat outside looking at the millions of bright stars you can't see in Shanghai. It was so peaceful there. After visiting my grandparents, we went back to Shanghai and I got to hang out with my friends. We had a sleepover at Jiaqi's house and stayed up all night watching movies, playing video games, and eating junk food. The next morning we were zombies from lack of sleep but it was worth it!Later that week, my parents took us to the new Pokemon theme park that just opened up. It was a Poke-maniac's dream! We got to battle robot Pokemon with our pretend Pokeballs, go on rides through Pikachu's world, and of course, do lots ofPokemon trading. I finally got my hands on a holographic Charizard card that I've wanted forever. The park was incredible!Towards the end of the holidays, our whole family went camping for a few nights at a national park. We hiked to our campsite while carrying our heavy backpacks. I was pretty tired by the time we got there! That night, we cooked hot dogs and smores over the campfire. I loved watching the bright orange flames crackle and dance. Too bad the mosquitos loved watching us roast those smores too - I got bitten up so badly! We told spooky stories around the campfire before zipping ourselves into our tents. I could hear the hoots of owls and howls of unknown animals all night long. A bit creepy but also magical. On our last day of camping, we went tubing down a gentle river. The water was freezing cold but so refreshing on a hot summer day. Our inner tubes bumped and splashed along for miles of peaceful floating. When we finished, we werepink-cheeked and pruney but totally relaxed after our outdoor adventure. And that was my summer in a nutshell! We packed in so much traveling, visiting family, friend time, and outdoor activities. It went by much too fast if you ask me. While I'm sad it's over, atleast I have tons of amazing memories to look back on. Fifth grade, here I come!篇2Here's an essay of around 2000 words in English from the perspective of a fifth-grader, written for the second unit of the Shanghai English textbook for the lower grades:My Exciting Trip to the ZooLast summer vacation, my family and I went on an amazing trip to the zoo. I had been looking forward to it for weeks! The night before, I could barely sleep because I was so excited.Early the next morning, we packed some snacks and drinks into a cooler and hopped into our car. The drive to the zoo took almost an hour, but it didn't feel that long because my little brother and I were playing "I Spy" and telling jokes the whole way. When we finally arrived, I could hardly contain my excitement! The zoo entrance had a huge sign with different animals painted all over it. There were lions, elephants, giraffes, and even a giant panda!First, we went to see the big cats like lions and tigers. The lion let out a mighty roar that made me jump! The zookeeper told us that male lions roar to scare away other animals and warn the pride of any danger. How cool is that?Next up were the amazing elephants. I've seen pictures of them before, but I was still amazed by how huge they were in real life! An elephant's trunk is actually a long nose that it uses to breathe, drink water, and grab things. The zookeeper gave them some fruits and veggies which they gobbled up using their trunks. It was so much fun watching them eat! Then we stopped by the giraffe enclosure. These gentle giants were munching on leaves high up in the trees. Giraffes are the tallest animals in the world! A baby giraffe is almost as tall as a grown man when it's born. I got to feed them some lettuce leaves which they took right from my hands with their long purple tongues. So cool! After that, we visited the chimpanzees. These clever primates are incredibly smart and can even use tools! The zookeeper showed us how they like to play games and solve puzzles. Some of the chimps were making nests out of branches while others were wrestling and chasing each other around. They looked like they were having a total blast!By lunchtime, we were getting a little hungry ourselves. So we stopped for a picnic near a big lake. We had sandwiches, fruits, and juice boxes. While we were eating, I spotted a peacock strutting around and showing off its bright feathers. A few ducks and geese were also swimming in the lake. I tossed them some breadcrumbs which they happily gobbled up.After lunch, we went to explore some more exhibits like the reptile house full of snakes and lizards, the insect pavilion with cool bugs from around the world, and the aquarium where you could see sharks, rays, and tropical fish.My favorite part had to be the petting zoo where I got to gently stroke and feed some friendly goats, sheep, and even a tiny porky little piglet! The zoo handlers showed me how to properly approach the animals so I didn't scare them. I was a little nervous at first, but the animals were just as curious about me as I was about them!By the end of the day, I was completely tuckered out from walking around and seeing so many incredible animals. As we were leaving, I begged my parents for a stuffed panda toy from the gift shop to remind me of my awesome day. I can't wait to go back to the zoo again someday! In summary, my family trip to the zoo was educational, exciting, and super fun. I got to see so many fascinating animals up close and learn all about their unique behaviors and habitats. From the fierce lions and tigers to the lovable pandas and cheeky monkeys, every exhibit was better than the last. If you ever get the chance to visit a zoo, you absolutely should! It's an adventure you'll never forget.篇3My Unforgettable Summer VacationSummer vacation is always the best time of the year for me. No school, no homework, and no worries! This past summer was extra special because my family and I went on an amazing trip to Yellowstone National Park in the United States.Yellowstone is one of the most famous national parks in the world. It's located in the states of Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. The park is huge, covering an area of almost 9,000 square kilometers (3,500 square miles)! That's bigger than some countries. Yellowstone is known for its incredible natural beauty, including forests, lakes, rivers, and most importantly, geysers and hot springs. Our journey to Yellowstone began with a long flight from Shanghai to Salt Lake City, Utah. From there, we rented a car and drove for several hours to reach the park's west entrance. As we got closer, I could already see the tall mountains and dense forests in the distance. I was so excited! The first thing we did after entering the park was to visit Old Faithful, the most famous geyser in Yellowstone. Old Faithful erupts every 90 minutes or so, shooting hot water and steam up to 180 feet (55 meters) into the air. It's an amazing sight to see! We waited patiently for the next eruption, and when it happened, everyone cheered and applauded. The geyser was so powerful and loud, it felt like it was roaring at us.Over the next few days, we explored many other parts of the park. We hiked along the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River, which is not actually a canyon but a gorge carved by the river's powerful waters. The colors of the rocks and the waterfalls were breathtaking. We also visited the Mud Volcano area, where we saw mudpots and sulfur caldrons bubbling and gurgling. The smell was pretty stinky, but it was still cool to see.One of my favorite places in Yellowstone was the Grand Prismatic Spring, the largest hot spring in the United States. From above, it looks like a giant rainbow on the ground, withrings of different colors radiating outward from the center. The colors are caused by different types of bacteria that thrive in the hot water at different temperatures. It's truly a natural wonder! One of the highlights of our trip was going on a horseback riding tour through the park's meadows and forests. It was my first time riding a horse, and I was a bit nervous at first. But the horses were very well-trained, and our guide taught us how to control them. We got to see parts of the park that were inaccessible by car or on foot, and the views were incredible.Towards the end of our trip, we visited the famous geyser basins of Norris and Lower Geyser Basin. These areas are filled with countless hot springs, geysers, and other hydrothermal features. The colors of the water and mineral deposits were stunning, ranging from deep blues and greens to bright oranges and yellows. It felt like we were walking on another planet!Overall, my trip to Yellowstone National Park was an unforgettable experience. I learned so much about nature, geology, and wildlife. I also gained a new appreciation for the importance of preserving these natural wonders for future generations to enjoy. I hope I can visit Yellowstone again someday, and maybe even explore some of the other amazing national parks in the United States.篇4Title: My Exciting Summer VacationLast summer, I had the most amazing vacation ever! It started when my parents told me that we were going to visit my grandparents in a small village near the mountains. I was so excited because I love spending time with my grandparents, and I couldn't wait to explore the countryside. The journey to the village was long, but it was so much fun. We played games in the car, sang songs, and tried to spot different animals along the way. When we finally arrived, my grandparents were waiting for us with big smiles and warm hugs. The first few days were spent catching up and helping my grandparents with their chores around the house. I loved helping my grandmother in the kitchen, learning how to make her famous dumplings and noodles. My grandfather taught me how to tend to the vegetable garden and feed the chickens. One day, my grandfather suggested that we go hiking in the nearby mountains. I was a little nervous at first, but he assured me that it would be an adventure. We packed our backpacks with snacks and water, and set off early in the morning. The hike was challenging, but the views were breathtaking. We saw towering peaks, crystal-clear streams, and lush forests filled with colorful wildflowers. My grandfather taught me how to identify different plants and animals, and we even spotted a few deer grazing in a meadow. As we reached the top of the mountain, I felt a sense of accomplishment like never before. We sat down and enjoyed our packed lunch, taking in the stunning panoramic views. My grandfather told me stories about his childhood and how he used to hike these same trails when he was a boy.On the way back down, we came across a small waterfall. My grandfather suggested that we take a break and cool off in the refreshing water. At first, I was hesitant, but then I saw how much fun he was having, and I couldn't resist. We splashed around, laughing and playing like children. The rest of our vacation was filled with more adventures and precious moments. We went fishing in a nearby lake, where I caught my first fish. We also visited a local farmers' market, where we bought fresh produce and tried all sorts of delicious foods. One of my favorite memories was the night we had a bonfire in my grandparents' backyard. We roasted marshmallows, sangsongs, and told stories late into the night. The stars seemed to shine brighter than ever, and I felt so grateful to be surrounded by my loved ones.As the summer came to an end, I was sad to say goodbye to my grandparents and their beautiful village. But I knew that the memories we created would last a lifetime. I learned so much about nature, tradition, and the importance of family during my summer vacation. Now, whenever I look back on that time, I can't help but smile. It was an adventure that taught me to appreciate the simple things in life and to cherish the moments we have with our loved ones. I can't wait for my next summer vacation and the new adventures it will bring.篇5My Favorite PetHi there! My name is Lily and I'm a 5th grader at Xinhua Elementary School in Shanghai. Today, I want to tell you all about my favorite pet, Muffin. She's the most adorable little bunny you've ever seen!Muffin is a Holland Lop rabbit. That means she has cute floppy ears, a round body, and short fuzzy fur. Her fur is mostly white, but she has patches of brown and black too. I just love running my fingers through her soft fur. It feels like petting a little cloud! We got Muffin when I was 7 years old. I had been begging my parents for a pet for what felt like forever. My dad is allergic to dogs and cats, so they were out of the question. Finally, my mom found an ad online for someone giving away a baby bunny. When we went to pick her up, she was so tiny that she fit right in the palm of my hand. I fell in love immediately! At first, taking care of Muffin was a lot of work. We had to bunny-proof our apartment by covering any wires she could chew on and clearing spaces so she could hop around safely. My parents also trained me how to properly pick her up, pet her, and clean her litter box. But I didn't mind at all because I was so excited to have my very own pet.As Muffin grew up, her personality really started to shine through. She's such a curious little thing, always wanting to explore every nook and cranny of our home. Whenever I open her cage, she comes hopping out, sniffing around to see if there are any new smells or toys to investigate. Sometimes she getsinto trouble by digging in our houseplants or chewing on book covers, but it's hard to be mad at her when she's so darn cute! One of my favorite things about Muffin is how much she loves getting petted. As soon as I sit down on the floor, she'll hop right into my lap and nudge my hand with her head until I start scratching behind her ears. Then she'll just close her eyes and utterly relax, looking totally blissed out. It's the most precious thing.Muffin is also really smart and can learn all kinds of cool tricks. So far, my mom has taught her how to spin in a circle, jump through a hoop, and give me a high-five with her little paw. Muffin always gets so excited when it's training time because she knows she'll get rewarded with some tasty treats like carrots, apple slices, or herbaly bunny cookies. I have to admit, I get just as excited as she does! But even with these little misadventures, I wouldn't trade Muffin for anything. She brings so much joy, laughter, and unconditional love into my life. Having a pet to care for has also taught me a lot about responsibility. I have to make sure Muffin always has fresh hay, water, and greens to munch on. I also help out by cleaning her litter box regularly and giving her exercise time to hop around outside her cage. It's a lot of work, but it's allworth it to have such an adorable, funny little bunny as my best friend. That's why I always encourage other kids to consider getting a bunny as a pet. Of course, you have to be prepared for the work involved and make sure you have space for their pen and toys. But in my experience, the love and cuteness they give in return is the absolute best! On hard days at school, just coming home to Muffin's bright eyes and twitchy little nose is enough to cheer me right up.Well, those are just a few of the reasons why Muffin is my favorite pet ever. She's brought so much happiness to me and my family over the past few years. I really can't imagine life without her fun, silly, furry presence anymore. Here's to many more years of bunny kisses, binkies, and hilarious Muffin misadventures! Thanks for reading all about my favorite pal.篇6My Awesome Summer VacationThis summer was the best ever! I had so much fun and went on lots of cool adventures. First, my family went on a trip to Grandma and Grandpa's house in the countryside. We stayed there for two whole weeks!Grandma and Grandpa live in a cute little village surrounded by mountains and forests. Their house is really old but cozy, with a big garden out back. In the mornings, I helped Grandpa pick fresh vegetables from the garden for breakfast. We grew juicy red tomatoes, crunchy green beans, carrots, potatoes, and more! Grandma used them to cook delicious homecooked meals. After breakfast, I spent most of the days exploring outside with my cousins. We went on long hikes in the woods, spotted all kinds of birds and forest animals, and splashed around in the stream. My cousin Tommy taught me how to skip rocks across the water. I wasn't very good at first but after practicing a lot I could skip them up to five times! In the evenings, we had fun around the village too. All the neighborhood kids gathered to play tag, hide and seek, and other running games in the open fields and empty lots. Sometimes the village grandpas joined in too, which was really funny to see. When it got dark, we caught fireflies in jars and watched them blink all night. On the weekend, the whole family drove up into the mountains for a camping trip. We pitched our tents in a grassy meadow next to a beautiful blue lake. That night we built a big campfire, toasted marshmallows, and looked up at the brightstars covering the night sky. I had never seen so many stars before! The next morning, we went swimming and fishing in the lake.I didn't catch any fish, but my uncle reeled in three big ones that we cooked up for lunch over the campfire. After lunch, the grown-ups took naps in the sun while us kids explored the lakeshore, looking for cool rocks and feathers and stuff. We also played pranks like leaving a plastic snake in Grandpa's tent to scare him!Too soon, it was time to head back home to the city. I was sad to leave the countryside, but also excited for the next part of my vacation - Summer Camp! I go to sleep-away camp every year, and this time I was a junior camp counselor since I'm one of the older kids now.At camp, I stayed in a cool log cabin with nine other girls my age. We had so much fun doing all the classic camp activities - swimming, canoeing, archery, arts and crafts, sing-alongs, and more. My favorite was definitely the ropes course, where you climb up high and walk across wobbly bridges while harnessed in for safety. It was a little scary but such a thrill! We also went on a three-day camping and hiking trip into the woods. We pitched our own tents, cooked meals over thecampfire, and hiked ten miles per day along scenic trails. Even though it was tiring, I felt really proud that I could do it all. I grew up so much on that trip. When we got back to the main camp, it was time for the big talent show that happens every year. All the campers put on silly skits, songs, dances, and comedy acts. My bunk did a hilarious parody of our favorite movie. I had one of the main roles and really hammed it up on stage. We won the prize for funniest act! After six amazing weeks of adventures, it was finally time to go back home to the city. I had such an incredible summer full of fun memories with my family and friends. A part of me was excited to be home and sleep in my own bed again. But another part of me was already counting down the days until next summer, when I can go on all new exciting escapades! Maybe I'll finally catch a big fish, or learn to do a cool bunk trick. Who knows what awesome experiences await? I can't wait to find out!。

They work hard to help the students learn and grow, and they are always there to support them.I also learned that Shanghai students have a lot of opportunities to explore their interests and talents. They can join clubs and teams, such as the math team, the choir, or the science club. This helps them develop their skills and discover what they are passionate about.Overall, I think Shanghai education is really cool and I wish I could study there too. I hope one day I can visit Shanghai and see for myself how amazing their schools are. That's all for my article on Shanghai education. I hope you enjoyed reading it! Thank you for listening!篇2Oh my gosh, guys! Today I want to talk about Unit 9 in our English book, it's all about Shanghai Education! It's so cool to learn about a different city and how they do things there. Let me tell you all about it!In Shanghai, students go to school from Monday to Friday, just like us. But get this, they also have school on Saturday! Can you imagine having to go to school six days a week? That's crazy! But I guess that's why Shanghai students do so well in school, they work super hard. Not only do they have school on Saturdays, but they also have longer school days than we do. They start at 7:30 in the morning and finish at 5 in the afternoon! That's a really long day, I would be so tired. But I guess all that hard work pays off because Shanghai students are some of the smartest in the world.Another cool thing about schools in Shanghai is that they have really high-tech classrooms. They have interactive whiteboards and computers for every student. We should definitely try to get those in our school, it would be so much fun to learn like that!I think it's so interesting to learn about how schools are different in other places. Maybe one day we can visit Shanghai and see it for ourselves. But for now, let's keep working hard and being the best students we can be!篇3Title: My Favorite AnimalsHi guys! I am so excited to share with you all about my favorite animals. Let's get started!First of all, my favorite animal is a dog. Dogs are so cute and friendly. They always wag their tails and lick our faces to show how much they love us. I have a pet dog named Max, and he is the best companion ever. He loves to play fetch and go on walks with me. Dogs are also very loyal and will protect us no matter what.Next, I love cats too. Cats are so graceful and elegant. They love to cuddle and purr when we pet them. I have a pet cat named Whiskers, and she is very playful and mischievous. Cats are very independent animals and can entertain themselves for hours. They also keep our house free from mice and other pests.Another animal that I adore is a dolphin. Dolphins are so intelligent and playful. They can do amazing tricks in the water and communicate with each other using sounds and body language. I love watching dolphins perform at the aquarium.
1My Passion for SportsHi there! My name is Lily and I'm a 5th grader at Shanghai World Academy. Today, I want to share with you my biggest passion - sports! Ever since I was a little kid, I've always loved being active and playing games. There's just something about the thrill of competition and the joy of movement that makes me feel alive. One of my earliest memories is watching my older brother play soccer in our backyard. I was probably around 4 years old, and I remember being mesmerized by the way he could dribble the ball between his feet and score goals. From that day on, I begged my parents to sign me up for soccer lessons. At first, they were a bit hesitant because I was so young, but they eventually gave in to my relentless pleading. My first soccer practice was a bit overwhelming. There were so many kids running around, kicking balls everywhere. But as soon as I stepped onto that field, I knew I was hooked. Thefeeling of the cool grass beneath my feet, the sound of the ball hitting my cleats, and the rush of adrenaline as I chased after it –it was pure magic.Over the years, I've played on various soccer teams, and each season has brought its own set of challenges and triumphs. I'll never forget the time when I scored the winning goal in the championship game, or the heartbreak of losing a match after a hard-fought battle. But through it all, I've learned invaluable lessons about teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship.Soccer isn't the only sport I'm passionate about, though. In recent years, I've also taken up basketball and swimming. There's something incredibly freeing about gliding through the water, feeling its resistance against my body as I propel myself forward. And on the basketball court, I love the fast-paced nature of the game, the sound of the squeaking sneakers, and the satisfaction of nailing a perfect jump shot.Sports have taught me so much more than just physical skills. They've instilled in me a sense of discipline, dedication, and resilience. I've learned how to push through exhaustion and keep going, even when every muscle in my body is screaming for me to stop. I've also learned how to handle disappointment gracefully, and how to celebrate victories with humility. But perhaps the most valuable lesson sports have taught me is the importance of teamwork. In every game, every practice, and every drill, I've had to rely on my teammates and they've had to rely on me. We've learned to communicate effectively, support each other through tough times, and work together towards a common goal. These are skills that will serve me well not just on the field or court, but in every aspect of my life.Looking back, I can't imagine my childhood without sports. They've shaped who I am as a person, instilled in me a sense of discipline and resilience, and given me some of the happiest memories of my life. I'll never forget the feeling of scoring that winning goal, or the adrenaline rush of a closely contested match. And even when I'm an adult with a career and responsibilities, I know that I'll always find time to lace up my sneakers or dive into the pool, because sports are an integral part of who I am.As I look towards the future, I'm excited to see where my passion for sports will take me. Maybe I'll play for my school's varsity team, or even earn a college scholarship. Or maybe I'll simply continue playing recreationally, using sports as a way to stay active and relieve stress. Whatever path I choose, I know that the lessons I've learned from sports will stay with me forever. So, if you're a kid who's been thinking about trying a new sport, my advice is: go for it! Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try something new. You never know, it might just become your biggest passion in life. And even if it doesn't, you'll still learn invaluable lessons about teamwork, perseverance, and pushing yourself to be the best version of you. That's all from me for now, folks! I've got soccer practice in an hour, and I can't wait to get out on that field and chase after that beautiful round ball once again. Sports are my life, and I wouldn't have it any other way.篇2My Favorite TeacherMrs. Lee is my favorite teacher ever! She teaches my English class this year and I just love everything about her class. Mrs. Lee makes learning English so much fun. I look forward to her class every single day.First of all, Mrs. Lee is really nice and caring. She always has a big smile on her face and greets us cheerfully when we enter the classroom in the morning. "Good morning, my brilliant students!" she'll say with a warm smile. Mrs. Lee takes an interest in each of us and makes an effort to get to know us as individuals. She asks about our hobbies, families, and how we're feeling that day. When I was sick with a bad cold last month, Mrs. Lee made me a get well soon card that made me feel so special. She really cares about her students. Not only is Mrs. Lee kind, but she's also an amazing teacher. Her lessons are always engaging and interactive. We never just sit at our desks doing worksheets all period. Instead, we play games, sing songs, act out skits, and do group activities. My favorite is when we play charades to practice new vocabulary words. It's so much fun trying to act out words like "elephant" or "juggling" without speaking. Mrs. Lee makes sure we're up and moving around instead of sitting still the whole time. She knows kids learn best when they're actively involved.Mrs. Lee has a delightful sense of humor too. She's constantly making jokes and puns to make us laugh. Like when we were learning about farm animals, she said "What do you call a cow that does tricks? A moo-lician!" We all cracked up at that one. Her funny jokes make English class enjoyable and help the lessons stick in our minds. Thanks to Mrs. Lee's great sense of humor, I'll never forget that cows say "moo".What I admire most about Mrs. Lee is her creativity. She's always coming up with innovative ways to teach us things.Instead of just writing vocabulary on the board, she'll draw funny cartoons and pictures as visuals. Or she'll bring in interesting objects like a stuffed animal or a world map to illustrate what we're learning. Her creative methods make it much easier for me to understand and remember. For example, when we were studying directions like "left", "right", "straight", and "turn around", Mrs. Lee taught us a crazy dance routine with movements for each word. Now whenever I need to give directions, I just think of the dance moves and I've got it! Mrs. Lee's creativity transforms ordinary lessons into something extraordinary.Another thing I love is how Mrs. Lee gets us up and moving for Daily Physical Activity time in the middle of class. We do fun exercises like jumping jacks, stretches, and dances to energize our bodies and brains. My favorite is when we do arm circles and pretend we're a windmill spinning in the wind. It's the perfect break to re-energize us when we're feeling sluggish in the afternoon. Thanks to Mrs. Lee, English class is never boring! What makes Mrs. Lee an especially great teacher is that she listens to our interests and adjusts her lessons accordingly. When she noticed how much we loved learning tongue twisters, she started incorporatating more of them into her pronunciationpractice. My favorite is "She sells sea shells by the sea shore." It's so hard to say that one fast! Mrs. Lee also asks for our input on class rewards and incentives. We voted on treating ourselves to a pizza party as our next class goal. Most importantly, Mrs. Lee makes each student feel capable and successful. She's really encouraging and always believing in us, even when we're struggling. Like when I was having trouble with the pronunciation of the "th" sound, Mrs. Lee spent extra time patiently working with me one-on-one until I got it. She never gives up on any of her students. Thanks to Mrs. Lee's unwavering support, my English skills have improved tremendously this year.Overall, Mrs. Lee is the best teacher I've ever had. Her kindness, engaging teaching style, great sense of humor, boundless creativity, and commitment to her students make her classroom a wonderful place. English class is my favorite period of the day, all because of the energy and passion Mrs. Lee brings. She has inspired me to continue studying English for many years to come. I feel so fortunate to have Mrs. Lee as my teacher this year. She is someone I will always remember and appreciate!篇3My Favorite SeasonOne of the things I like most about living in Shanghai is that we get to experience all four seasons. Each season brings its own unique weather, activities, and special events. However, if I had to pick a favorite, it would definitely be summer!Summer vacation is the best time of year for kids like me. We get a long break from school and can spend our days having fun instead of sitting in a classroom. A typical summer day for me starts by sleeping in late since I don't have to wake up early for school. Then I'll eat a nice big breakfast, maybe some congee with pickles and pork floss. After breakfast, I love going outside to play. The warm sunny weather is perfect for outdoor activities. My neighborhood has a big park with a playground, basketball courts, and lots of open space for running around. I'll usually meet up with my friends and we'll play sports, games, or just hang out and chat.Sometimes we'll ride our bikes or kick around a football. Other times we'll bring frisbees, skipping ropes, or badminton rackets. When we get hot and sweaty, the park has a snack stand that sells delicious ice creams and cold drinks. Slurping on a popsicle or sipping an icy lemonade is so refreshing on a sweltering summer day.In the afternoons, my friends and I sometimes go to the local swimming pool to cool off. I really enjoy swimming and splashing around in the water. The pool has waterslides and a diving board too, which are super fun. My mom usually packs me a lunch box with some summer snacks like lychees, waxed amaranth greens, or mung bean soup.On rainy days when we can't go outside, I'll stay home and read books, play video games, or watch movies and shows. My favorite thing is lounging in the air conditioning with an icy cold drink and snacks while watching an exciting movie orbinge-watching a show I love. Some evenings, my parents will take me and my younger brother out for dinner. We really enjoy the night markets and outdoor food stalls that pop up in the summer. The smells of all the different street foods cooking make my mouth water - stinky tofu, barbecued squid, scallion pancakes, sugar cane juice! There are also lots of game stalls and rides which are thrilling at night.Other nights, my grandparents who live nearby will come over and we'll all eat zongzi (sticky rice dumplings) or have a watermelon seed spitting contest on our balcony. The summer fireflies and the sounds of cicadas buzzing make those nights feel extra special. My absolutely favorite part of summer, though, is the festivals and celebrations. The Dragon Boat Festival is a huge event in June where we watch exciting boat races and eat delicious zongzi. For the Double Seventh Festival in August, my mom makes yummy qiaoguo (fried sticky rice balls) and we go see the amazing Zhoushan Arch Bridge all lit up at night. But my personal #1 summer tradition is Qixi Festival, also called Chinese Valentine's Day. I really love this festival because it's all about romance! There are always beautiful decorations with red double happiness symbols, and the night markets have games where you can try to win prizes for your crush. Some years my friends and I will make jokes about getting married, but we mainly just enjoy the festive atmosphere and snack foods.Summer days can be long and hot, but to me they are packed with fun activities, yummy treats, and wonderful memories with my family and friends. The freedom of summer vacation is something I look forward to all year. While I know I have to eventually go back to school and homework, those lazy sunny days of playing outside until sunset and staying up late are what I love most about this season. Summer will always be my favorite time of year!篇4My Favorite Sports and GamesSports and games have always been a big part of my life. Ever since I was a little kid, I've loved being active and playing outside with my friends. Now that I'm in fifth grade, I still enjoy plenty of sports and games, both at school and at home. One of my absolute favorite sports is basketball. I first started playing basketball when I was in second grade. My parents signed me up for a youth league, and I immediately fell in love with the game. There's something really exciting about dribbling the ball down the court and trying to score points for your team. Basketball requires a lot of skill, like being able to shoot accurately and move quickly, but it's also a lot of fun. I practice my basketball skills almost every day, whether it's shooting hoops in my driveway or playing pickup games at the neighborhood court. I'm on my school's basketball team, and we have games and tournaments throughout the year. It's always a thrill when our team wins a big game!Another sport I really enjoy is swimming. I started taking swimming lessons when I was five years old, and I've been a strong swimmer ever since. Swimming is a great way to stay active and healthy, and it's also a lifesaving skill that everyone should learn. Whenever the weather is warm, my friends and Ilove going to the pool or the beach to swim and play in the water. We have swimming competitions to see who can swim the fastest or hold their breath the longest underwater. Swimming is not only fun, but it's also excellent exercise for your whole body.In addition to sports, I also love playing various games with my friends and family. One of our favorite games to play ishide-and-seek. It's a classic game that never gets old! We'll spend hours running around, trying to find the perfect hiding spots and then attempting to sneak back to the "safe" spot without being caught. Hide-and-seek is exciting, it gets us moving, and it's a great way to work on our stealth and strategy skills.Another game we enjoy is capture the flag. We divide into two teams, each with a "flag" or special object to protect in our respective territories. Then, we have to try to sneak into the other team's territory, capture their flag, and bring it back to our side without getting caught. Capture the flag is a lot of fun because it combines elements of strategy, teamwork, and physical activity. We have to come up with plans and communicate effectively with our teammates, all while running around and trying to outsmart the other team.No matter what sport or game we're playing, the most important thing is that we're having fun and spending quality time together. Sports and games bring us closer as friends and help us stay active, healthy, and engaged. They teach us valuable lessons about sportsmanship, teamwork, and perseverance. And at the end of the day, there's nothing better than the feeling of victory after a hard-fought game or the laughter and joy of simply playing together. So, those are some of my favorite sports and games. Whether it's shooting hoops on the basketball court, swimming laps in the pool, or strategizing with friends during an epic game of capture the flag, I always have a blast. Sports and games will continue to be an important part of my life, and I can't wait to discover and enjoy many more in the years to come!篇5My Favorite SportSports are a huge part of my life. I love playing all kinds of sports and being active. Of all the different sports I've tried, my favorite is definitely basketball. There's just something about the fast pace, teamwork, and thrill of scoring that really gets me excited.I first started playing basketball a few years ago when my parents signed me up for a local youth league. At first, I wasn't very good. I had trouble dribbling and my shots rarely went in the hoop. But I kept practicing and slowly started improving. What I lacked in natural talent, I made up for with hard work and determination. The first time I made a basket in a real game is a memory I'll never forget. We were playing against our biggest rival team. The score was tied with just seconds left on the clock. My teammate passed me the ball and without even thinking, I shot it from halfway across the court. Time seemed to move in slow motion as the ball arced through the air. Then, swish! Nothing but net. The crowd went wild as the buzzer sounded. We had won the game! From that point on, I was hooked. I spent hours outside practicing my dribbling, passing and shooting. On the weekends, my dad would take me to the outdoor courts at the park and we'd have competitions to see who could make the most baskets. He taught me all sorts of tips and tricks that helped take my game to the next level. When I wasn't practicing, I was watching basketball on TV or reading books about the sport's history and greatest players. Iwas fascinated learning about legends like Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Steph Curry. Their skills, work ethic and championship mindsets were so inspiring to me. I dreamed that maybe one day I could be like them.Last year, I finally made my school's basketball team. Being around coaches and teammates who shared my passion for the game motivated me even more. We had long practices full of drills and scrimmages, but I didn't mind the hard work because I loved every second of it. Win or lose, hitting the court with my friends was the highlight of my week. This season has been our best one yet. With our strong teamwork and never-give-up attitude, we've battled our way to the city championship finals. The big game is tomorrow night and you can bet I'll be giving it my absolute all. No matter what the scoreboard says at the end, I already feel like a winner because of how much I've grown as a player and a person thanks to this incredible sport.Basketball has taught me so many valuable lessons that go far beyond just putting a ball through a hoop. I've learned about perseverance, pushing through adversity, supporting your teammates, and maintaining confidence even when things get tough. Most importantly, I've discovered the amazing feeling ofpassion - that drive and determination that comes when you love something so much that you'll do whatever it takes to get better at it every single day.I know that very few basketball players make it to the professional level. But even if my hoop dreams don't take me to the NBA, this sport has already given me skills and memories that will last forever. The friendships, the excitement, the life lessons - that's what really matters. No matter where life takes me, I'll always be a basketball player at heart. The sound of sneakers squeaking on the court, the rhythmic thumping of the dribble, the swish of nothing but net - that's the soundtrack to my childhood and my favorite song of all.篇6My Favorite SportspersonSports are a huge part of my life. I love playing sports, watching sports, and learning about amazing athletes. That's why when our English teacher announced we would be studying Unit 2 on "Outstanding People" this semester, I was really excited to learn about some of the greatest sportspeople in the world. The first athlete we learned about was Serena Williams, one of the most successful tennis players of all time. Serena has wonan incredible 23 Grand Slam singles titles, which is more than any other player in the modern era. What's even more amazing is that she won her last Grand Slam in 2017 when she was already 35 years old and pregnant! That just shows her incredible determination and skill.Reading about Serena's life story was really inspiring. She was raised in a humble neighborhood in Los Angeles by her parents who introduced her and her sister Venus to tennis at a very young age. Despite facing many obstacles, including racism and family challenges, Serena worked incredibly hard to become one of the greatest players ever. Her powerful serve and groundstrokes are unmatched.I was awed to learn that in addition to her tennis achievements, Serena is an activist who fights for racial equality and women's rights. She has her own clothing line and is an investor in businesses run by women and minorities. Serena is a true champion both on and off the court. She is a role model who shows that with passion and perseverance, you can achieve greatness no matter where you come from. The next sports legend we studied was Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian of all time with 28 medals. I have always been in awe of Phelps' swimming abilities ever sincewatching him compete in the 2008 Beijing Olympics as a young kid. Seeing him smash world records while his body seemed to glide effortlessly through the water was incredible. What struck me most about learning Phelps' story was the amount of dedication and sacrifice it took for him to reach the pinnacle of his sport. He began training at a very young age, waking up at 5am to swim before school. Throughout his career he would spend 6-7 hours per day in the pool, swimming over 50 miles per week! On top of that grueling regimen, he also spent hours in the gym, carefully managing his diet and sleep. True excellence requires an obsessive commitment.I was inspired to read about how Phelps overcame challenges like ADHD and even thoughts of retirement to continue chasing his dreams. His mental toughness and relentless pursuit of perfection despite the incredible physical and mental toll is what separates the great ones. Phelps is living proof that with the right mindset and work ethic, you can accomplish things that seem impossible. Finally, we learned about Megan Rapinoe, the iconic soccer star and captain of the US Women's National Team. What I admire most about Rapinoe is that she is much more than just anathlete - she is a leader and activist using her platform to fight for LGBTQ rights, gender equality and other important causes. On the field, Rapinoe has had a spectacular career, winning two World Cups and an Olympic gold medal. She is famous for her incredible skills and clutch performances, like scoring the opening goal in the 2019 World Cup final. Despite being older than most players at 36, she is still one of the faces of women's soccer globally. However, it is Rapinoe's courageous activism that really makes her stand out as an outstanding person. She has never been afraid to speak out about injustices, even getting into public disputes with former President Trump. Rapinoe fights tirelessly for equal pay and investment in women's sports. As an openly gay woman married to her wife, she is also a pioneer for LGBTQ acceptance in athletics. To me, she represents using your success to be a positive force for change in the world.Learning about these three incredible sportspeople - Serena Williams, Michael Phelps and Megan Rapinoe - was so inspiring. They showed me the incredible heights that can be reached through hard work, passion, mental strength and believing in yourself against all odds. Their stories of resilience, breakingbarriers and giving back to their communities were powerful lessons.I have a new appreciation for just how obsessively dedicated and talented you have to be to become the absolute best in a sport. The sacrifices in terms of time, energy, injuries and pressure these athletes endure is unlike anything I can imagine. At the same time, I admire how they use their athletic success as a platform to stand up for important causes beyond just sports. These elite sportspeople have motivated me to work harder, dream bigger and be a positive force for change, no matter what path in life I pursue. They taught me that being truly outstanding is about more than just achievements, but also embodying qualities like leadership, equality, perseverance and service to others. I feel very lucky to have had the chance to learn about such amazing role models and feel inspired to leave my own positive mark on the world someday.。
