Main Story
In 1977, Yuan Longping published two important papers on the practice and theory of hybrid rice cultivation and the key technology of hybrid rice seed production and high yield.
• As he walked out of the hall on September 8,2018, he uttered his birthday wish:
• To pursue the goal of the 18 tonnes of rice per hectare.
In July 1965, Yuan Longping inspected more than 14,000 rice panicle to 6 sterile strains, and in the following two years of sowing, a total of 4 plants successfully bred generations. The study completely overturned the theory of which was michurin and Lysenko by traditional classical theory, and deduced that Rice also had heterosis.
In 1973, the collaboration group found the Restorer line through the survey, and conquered the "three series" supporting difficulties. In October, Yuan Longping published in the Rice Research conference in Suzhou, "The Use of" wild-Defeated "breeding three series of progress", formally announced the Chinese Indica Hybrid rice "three series" has been supporting.

Yuan Longping lived a simple life and he cared little about money or being famous. As for hobbies, he enjoyed swimming as well as listening to music.
Yuan Longping made great contributions not only to China, but also to the whole world. Therefore, in my eyes, he was more of a scientist; he was a pioneer for all people.

Scientists now know a lot more about a grain that people have eaten for ten thousand years. Research teams around the world have completed a map of the genes of rice. Such a map is called a genome. The findings appeared last week in the magazine Nature. The map represents ninety-five percent of the rice genome. And the information is considered ninety-nine point nine-nine percent correct. The aim is to speed up the improvement of rice. The scientists warn that the kinds of rice plants used now have reached the limit of their productivity.
