确定关系词的步骤
▪ Do you know Mr.Smith whose story is very moving ?
▪ There is a room, whose window faces the river.
▪ There is a room, the window of which faces the river.
(1)先行词被①形容词最高级 ②序数词 ③数词 几种词修饰或被 ④only、any、few、 no、 little、all、one of等修饰时。
(2)先行词为all、much、little、none、few、 one、something、anything等不定代词时。
(3)先行词中既有人又有物时。 (4)先行词在主句中作表语,关系词在从句中作
表语时。
(5)当主句中含有疑问词which时。
宜用which而不用that的情况
▪ (1)在非限制性定语从句中 ▪ (2)在关系词前有介词时 ▪ (3)当先行词本身是that时 ▪ (4)当关系词离先行词较远时

物,在一般情况下,可以互换使用,
一、用who (whom) 而不用that的情形
(1) 在非限制性定语从句中的先行词指人时,只能用who (whom)。如:
My sister, who is studying abroad, sent me a beautiful
present just before this Christmas.

(2) I’ll never forget the days _w_h_e_n__ we lived together.(作状语) 比较:I’ll never forget the days (__th_a_t__) we spent in Australia. (作及物动词spent的宾语)

Relative adverbs (关系副词)
定义: 放在名词或代词后面,由关系代词 或关系副词引导的修饰前面名词或代词的 从句叫定语从句。

where引导的定语从句先行词大多数情况下是 表示地点的名词,但也有特殊情况。
