These cool-looking animals with their humped backs were designed for desert life. Their wide feet help them traverse the sand, and their humps store fat to live off of when food and water is scarce. Pretty clever adaptation if you ask me! Camels can even go for weeks without water by conserving it in their bodies. I don't know how they withstand those scorching temperatures though - I'd melt into a puddle out there!Fennec foxes are another amazing little desert creature. They are the smallest fox species, but boy are they cute! With their massive bat-like ears and fluffy fur coat, fennecs look almost like little aliens hopping around the desert. Just like camels, fennecs have special abilities to go without water for a long time. Even their paws have fur on them to protect against hot sand. How amazing is that?Out of all the desert animals though, the one that fascinated me most were the dreaded scorpions. Can you imagine these freaky little arachnids scuttling around your feet in the sand? Ilearned that scorpions actually glow in ultraviolet light because of compounds in their exoskeletons. Steppingthrough the gates into Main Street USA made me feel like I had entered areal life fairy tale. The iconic Cinderella's castle was right there in front of me, looking even bigger and more beautiful than I imagined.We started off by going on all the classic Disney rides like It's A Small World, The Haunted Mansion, and the Mad Tea Party spinning teacups. Everything was so vibrant, colorful, and filled with wonderful Disney magic. Around lunchtime, we met up with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and the whole cast of beloved Disney characters. Getting my picture taken while hugging Mickey Mouse is a memory I'll never forget.In the afternoon, we explored the other areas of the park like Adventureland, Frontierland, and my personal favorite, Tomorrowland. The rides like Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, and the Tomorrowland Transit Authority were all out of this world amazing. I felt like a real astronaut or space explorer getting to experience those futuristic attractions.After an unbelievably fun day at the Magic Kingdom, we spent the evening at our hotel's night club just for kids. They had a dance party, games, and even got to meet some other Disney characters up close. By the end of the night, I was completely tuckered out but still grinning from ear to ear.The next few days we visited the other amazing Disney parks: Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and the Animal Kingdom. Each one was loaded with its own unique rides, shows, characters, and things to see and do. I decided my favorite was Epcot because of its huge geodesic sphere called Spaceship Earth that you can actually go inside. We learned all about these fascinating, intelligent creatures and then got to join them right in their home waters. Swimming alongside them, shaking their nifty little flippers, and giving them hugs and kisses is something I'll cherish forever. At Epcot we felt like we got to go around the world as we explored recreations of different countries and cultures. The rides like Soarin' and Test Track were thrilling, and we loved eating foods from all the different national pavilions.At Hollywood Studios, we got to step onto real movie sets and go inside some of our favorite films. The Rock 'n' Roller Coaster was my dad's favorite as you shoot out of the station to Aerosmith music! Animal Kingdom was neat too - we went on a realistic safari adventure and got to see so many animals up close.After a few days at Disney, we then spent some time relaxing at the beach. We stayed at a resort right on the ocean and I loved playing in the waves, building sandcastles, and finding little shells. The sunsets over the water were so pretty in the evenings. Overall, I'd say my favorite part of the whole trip was getting to spend so much fun quality time with my family, away from the stresses of everyday life.One really cool experience we had was going to see a shuttle launch at the Kennedy Space Center. We got up early and drove over before sunrise to watch a rocket carrying astronauts and supplies blast off into space. It was unbelievably loud and powerful! We could feel the heat and rumbling from miles away as it took off into the atmosphere. Getting to see such an historic event in person was a memory I'll never forget.On our final day, we visited Universal Studios and its iconic Wizarding World of Harry Potter area. As huge Harry Potter fans, this was the part of the trip my brother and I had been most excited about! We explored Diagon Alley, saw the magical shows and creatures, went inside Gringotts Bank, and of course rode the Forbidden Journey and Escape from Gringotts rides. Drinking butterbeer was so delicious and we bought wands and robes sowe could be real wizards! It truly felt like the books had come to life.After two weeks of excitement and adventures, we started the long drive back home. I was exhausted but so happy after having the best summer vacation ever. We made so many incredible memories as a family that I'll cherish forever. There were a few meltdowns and fights here and there, but those were overshadowed by all the fun we had. I'm so grateful my parents saved up and made this dream trip happen for us kids!Florida was hot, crowded, and expensive, but so worth it to get to experience the unbelievable magic and thrills of Disney World, the beautiful beaches, and making our favorite stories become reality.
