We spent many hours researching and preparing our arguments for the debate, and I am so proud of each and every one of them.During the competition, we were given the topic of whether or not homework should be banned in schools. My team and I were tasked with arguing in favor of banning homework. Wecame up with some really strong points, such as the fact that homework can cause stress and anxiety for students, and that it takes away valuable time that could be spent on other activities.We presented our arguments confidently and persuasively, and I could tell that the judges were really impressed with our performance. After all the teams had debated, the judges announced that we had won first place! I couldn't believe it – I was so happy and proud of our team.In my acceptance speech, I made sure to thank our coach for all of her guidance and support, as well as our families for their encouragement. I also thanked the other teams for their hard work and sportsmanship.
