1)It can be inferred from the text that.2)We can conclude that.3)When the writer talks about..., what he really means is that.4)Which of the following can be inferred from the passage?

1:AnnealingAnnealing is a way of making metal softer by heating it and then letting it cool very slowly. If metal is heated and then cooled very quickly, for example by dipping (浸) it in water, it will be very hard but also very brittle-that is, it will break easily. Metal that has been annealed is soft but does not break as easily. It is possible to make metal as hard or as soft as it is wished, by annealing it. The metal is heated, and allowed to cool slowly for a certain length of time. The longer the heated metal takes to cool slowly, the softer it becomes. Annealing can also be used on other material, such as glass.( 1990NMET )①W hy do people put hot metal in water?A. To make it hard.B. To make it soft.C. To make it cool.D. To make it brittle.

(A)I was blind, but I was ashamed of it if it was known. I refused to use a white stick and hated asking for help. After all, I was a teenage girl, and I couldn’t bear people to look at me and think I was not like them. I must have been a terrible danger on the roads. Coming across me wandering through the traffic, motorists probably would have to step rapidly on their brakes. Apart from that, there were all sorts of disasters that used to occur on the way to and from work. One evening, I got off the bus about halfway home where I had to change buses, and as usual I ran into something. “I’m awfully sorry,” I said and stepped forward only to run into it again. When it happened a third time, I realized I had beenapologizing to a lamppost. This was just one of the stupid things that constantly happened to me. So I carried on and found the bus stop, which was a request stop, where the bus wouldn’t stop, unless passengers want to get on or off. No one else was there and I had to try to guess if the bus had arrived.Generally in this situation, because I hated showing I was blind by asking for help, I tried to guess at the sound. Sometimes I would stop a big lorry and stand there feeling stupid as it drew away. In the end, I usually managed to swallow my pride and ask someone at the stop for help. But on this particular evening on one joined me at the stop: It seemed that everyone had suddenly decided not to travel by bus. Of course I heard plenty of buses pass, or I thought I did. But because I had given up stopping them for fear of making a fool of myself, I let them all go by. I stood there alone for half an hour without stopping one. Then I gave up. I decided to walk on to the next stop.1.The girl refused to ask for help because she thought______.A. she might be recognizedB. asking for help looked sillyC. she was normal and independentD. being found blind was embarrassing2.What was the problem with guessing at the sound to stop a bus?A.Other vehicles also stopped thereB.It was unreliable for making judgments.C.More lorries than buses responded to the girl.D.It took too much time for the girl to catch the bus.3.Finally the girl decided to walk to the next stop, hoping_____.A.to find people thereB.to find more bused thereC.to find the bus by herself thereD.to find people more helpful there(B)In many countries the standard of living enjoyed by their people had increased rapidly in recent years. Sadly, not everyone in these countries is so fortunate and many people in rich countries are homeless. The reasons for homelessness are various, but poverty is undoubtedly one of the main causes. The homeless people may have become jobless and then been unable to pay their rent and so no longer have a roof over their heads. Often, the fact that unemployed people get help from the government prevents this from happening, but not always. Some cynics(愤世嫉俗的人) declare that homeless people choose to live the lifewhich they lead. But who would willingly choose to live in a shop doorway, under a bridge or in a cardboard box?4. It can be inferred from the text that .A. you will not find homeless people in countries with a high standard of livingB. the mental ill live on the street because they want the company of otherhomeless peopleC. the unemployed who receive help may still be among the homelessD. the homeless are willing to live under a bridge or in a cardboard box(C)Before the widespread use of computers, managers could not make full use of large amounts of valuable information about a company’s activities. Today, managers are facing a wide range of data processing and information instruments. ···The information provided by these systems helps managers compare standards with actual results, find out problems, and take corrective action before it is too late to make changes.···One research found that business firms were more successful in teaching basic information about computers to business graduates than they were in teaching business subjects to computer science graduates.5. All of following statements are true EXCEPT that .A. computer is a great help for business managementB. With the help of computers, company managers are now more informed ofwhat’s going on in their companies.C. computerized information enables managers to take timely measures to preventpossible mistakes.D. computer science graduates are quick to learn business subjects because of theirprofessional knowledge about computers.(D)Planning a visit to the UK? Here we help with ways to cut your costs.Avoid Big Events Big sporting events, concerts and exhibitions can increase the cost of accommodation and make it hard to find a room.

What can you conclude from this passage? What’s the author’s attitude towards...?We can infer from the passage that….Which statement is (not) true? What is the author’s attitude towards…?

It can be inferred/ concluded that___________.Which of the following conclusions can we draw according to the passage? In which of the following publication would this passage most likely be printed? The passage implies, but doesn't directly state that___________.The writer suggests that___________.What's the author's attitude toward___________?The writer probably feels that___________.The author uses the examples of... to show that___________.

掌握常见的提问形式常用infer, imply, suggest, conclude, learn, intend, mean, describe, purpose 等词提问,或提问中含有表示推测的情态动词,如:can, could, might, would 等何其他表示可能性的副词或词组,如probably, most likely 等。

Sometimes situations call for us to act strong and brave even when we don’t feel that way. But those are and far between. More often, it would be better if we don’t pretend we feel strong when we feel weak or pretend that we are brave when we are scared.29 In this passage, the author advises us to ______.A. handle problems by ourselvesB. accept help from othersC. admit our weaknessD. show our bravery[解析]答案是C。

本小题是问从文章最后一段中推断出作者对我们的建议是,根据上面文章所提供的信息:it would be better if we don’t pretend we feel strong when we feel weak or pretend that we are brave when we are scared。

DWhile Jennifer was at hose taking an online exam for her business law class, a monitor(监控器)a few hundred miles away was watching her every move.Using a web camera equipped in Jennifer’s Los Angeles apartment, the monitor in Phoenix tracked how frequently her eyes moved form the computer screen and listened for the secret sounds of a possible helper in the room. Her Internet access was locked — remotely — to prevent Internet searches , and her typing style was analyzed to make sure she was who she said she was: Did she enter her student number at the same speed as she had in the past? Or was she slowing down?In the battle against cheating , this is the cutting edge and a key to encourage honesty in the booming field of online education. The technology gives trust to the entire system, to the institution and to online education in general. Only with solid measures against cheating, experts say, can Internet universities show that their exams and diplomas are valid — that students haven’t just searched the Internet to get the right answers.……41. Why was Jennifer watched in an online exam ?A.To correct her typing mistakes.B.To find her secrets in the room.C To prevent her form slowing down. D.To keep her from dishonest behaviors. In the battle against cheating可知,前面两段对Jennifer在家考试中受监控器的监控的具体描述是为了防止她作弊。

典例:2013年A篇……The day before his third trip to the operating room, Tom was terribly afraid. “Maybe I could go as Superman,” he whispered to his mom. Hearing this, the mother hesitated for a while. She had avoided buying the expensive costume(戏装), finally she agreed.27. What can be infer red about Tom’s mother?A. She was a rich ladyB. She refused Tom’s requestC. She wanted Tom to be a superheroD. She wanted to get Tom through the pain[解析]. Hearing this, the mother hesitated for a while. She had avoided buying the expensive costume(戏装), finally she agreed.
