I got dressed quickly because I was eager to start my day. When I went downstairs, Mom had prepared my favorite breakfast - blueberry waffles with whipped cream and strawberries. My mouth watered at the delicious smell wafting from the kitchen. After clearing my plate, I spent the morning playing outside on the swingset and trampoline in the backyard. The nice weather put me in such a cheerful mood. For lunch, Dad grilled hamburgers and hot dogs that we ate on the patio along with lemonade and chips. In the afternoon, we all piled into the car and went for a scenic drive up into the mountains. The views were breathtaking! We stopped at an overlook to take pictures and eat the picnic snacks Mom had packed. I loved breathing in the fresh, crisp mountain air. On our way back home, we detoured through the charming downtown area of a nearby town. We window shopped at all the littleboutiques and stopped for ice cream cones at the old-fashioned parlor. By the time we got back home as the sun was setting, I was glowing with happiness from such a lovely, adventure-filled day. We capped it off by roasting marshmallows over the backyard firepit and gazing up at the twinkling stars before bed.
