姓名：刘祥学号：170720114 The Comparison of Chinese and Western Myths Myth is the birthplace of human literature and the source of human development, which had taken us so much magic, fun and treasure. However, If you had read a lot of Chinese and western myths, especially for Greek mythology, and you would find that there are big differences between them. For example, I have found a lot and I am going to introduce their comparison in three ways.

First, the comparison in the emergence of Chinese and Western mythology. In primitive times, the natural life of mankind was very hard. And the human were thirsty for Overcoming difficulties, Maintaining and Continuing life. As a result, man has to place his hopes on a powerful but non-existent divine power.

And therefore, Chinese and Western myths arose as a result.

They have a common feature which have had a great impact on the lives of future generations.

The second way is about spreading. In the West, the content is the most complete, the most colorful is the Greek mythology where many literary works and stories are drawn from.

Chinese mythology is not as complete as Greece, while Western mythology has formed a whole system. For example , in Greek mythology, Zeus was the Lord of the Gods, and each had to listen to his orders. And the

gods have a clear division of labour and do their jobs. Poseidon Sea god, Apollo Day God and so on. However, Chinese myths do not have such a complete system, always appears to be more sporadic, handed down the article is also relatively short.

And another way is that the difference of image. The gods of Greek mythology are with a lot of people, and there are many people living with them. While the gods of China are high above man, and ordinary people cannot approach God, but only through cultivation into God. Just like Sea God Poseidon and Nvwa who made the man in Chinese.

The above three points are my comparison of Chinese and Greek mythology. However, there are not only these three points, but there are still many aspects that need to be compared. Myth, as a treasure of world, even if there are great differences between them, but they still have a great impact and cultural heritage.
