II Teaching Aims
1. Have the students master the new words and phrases(While leading in the subject of this lesson with the poems, teach new words and phrases just the same as that of the text.)
Lesson 46: Mothers and Fathers Are Special
I The Analysis of The Text
This unit focuses on the Internet and computers—important sources of information and connection in our world. This unit also contains a lesson on the Western celebrations of Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. These are important dates on the Western calendar, and give students insight into Western family traditions. Mother’s Day takes place in May, close to the time when we teach this unit.
2. Let the students learn more about the culture and custom of these two holidays.(Have the students find materials by some media, investigate knowledge by themselves)
3. Encourage the students to try to express their thoughts in English. Have the students become interested in English and confident to learn it well.
4. Through learning the text, have the students be aware of their mother and father’s great love and care to them and they should be thankful to them.( I design two activities in this lesson. Oral English practice-“how to celebrate Mother’s Day for your mother?” and making greeting cards)
III Teaching Approach
In this lesson, I mainly use the Communicative Approach. It emphasizes the process of communication and interaction. Encourage the students to try to express themselves in target language. Talking about something which affect them personally is motivating for the students. (Such as activities-Oral English Practice: how to celebrate the holidays for parents) They will completely show their performance with confidence.
*Important Points: talk about the subject of Mother’s Day and Father’s Day with expressions we have learnt.
*Difficult Points: understand the past perfect tense in the text *Key Points: encourage the students to have confidence in expressing
This lesson mainly has the students learn more about the culture and cBiblioteka Baidustom of these two days. The text tells about them with these questions:When is Mother’s Day/Father’s Day?
How do people celebrate them? How did they start? When we learn this lesson, Mother’s Day is just coming. The holiday in China is more popular than before. I’m sure many students know it. Before class, have the students search more materials connected with the holiday by some media, such as the Internet, books or TV shows. The subject of this unit is about the Internet and computer. During finishing this task, have the students make good use of the media. Meanwhile through learning this lesson, have the students understand their parents and know how hard they are working for children. We should say thank you to our parents.
