Listening Comprehension—short dialoguesA. A brief introduction to the listening techniques—short conversations四级听力考试短对话部分由8个简短对话构成,每个对话一般有2-3句,在男女两人之间进行,长度在30词左右,平均语速为130-150词每分钟。
要求考生能听懂英语国家人士的日常对话,把握讨论的主题,能抓住其中心大意或其中的要点,然后从所给的四个选项中选出最佳答案。
四级听力短对话测试的内容主要为日常会话,包括以下类型:弦外之音和语义理解、请求和建议、观点和态度、比较、身份和人物关系、地点和场所、虚拟语气、因果关系、计划和打算和数字计算。
1. 弦外之音和语义理解弦外之音和语义理解题在听力测试中占得比例较大,难度较高。
在此类题型中,对话人并不直接说出自己的意图,而是委婉含蓄地表达自己的观点,需要真正理解说话者的意图才能正确答题。
解答这类题目时要求考生在听清对话内容的前提下,充分运用逻辑推理能力,并结合语境和语气等推断出说话人真正的态度、观点和意图。
常见的提问方式:What does the woman/man imply/mean?What can we infer from the conversation?What can be inferred about the man/woman?What can we conclude from the man’s/woman’s reply?What do we learn about the man/woman?What do we learn from the conversation?弦外之音和语义理解题根据说话人表达方式的不同,可以分为以下几种情况:语气、语调型为了更好地表达自己的观点,说话人往往采用不同的语气,通过不同的语气和语调来表达自己的感情,如怀疑、吃惊、否定等。
在听力考试中,考生尤其要注意说话人的语气和语调。
相同的句子,若用不同的语气和语调,则意思截然不同。
此外,要特别注意反问句。
在对话中,第二个人如果不同意第一个人的观点,对第一个人的话通常不做正面回应,而是采用包含自己真正意图的反问句式。
习语型习语是人们长期使用,约定俗成的,往往与字面意思有很大的出入,通常无法根据字面意思判断出其真正的含义,因此要求考生在平时多加积累。
如果遇到不熟悉的表达方式而拿不准其真正的意思,解题时应该牢记一点:“听到的不是答案。
”这时可用排除法得出答案。
例如:M: Is your roommate looking forward to going home for the summer?W: She’s counting the days.Q: What can be inferred about the woman’s roommate?A. She’s spending time going over her accounts.B. 在做这类题目时也要注意“听到的不是答案”这一原则。
综合推断型解答这类题目通常要对一方或双方所说的话进行全面的理解,进而推测出说话者真正的意思。
2. 请求和建议请求一般是请求对方的帮助或征求对方的意见。
建议包括建议对方做什么或建议对方与自己一起做什么。
建议重点听祈使句、疑问句和Let’s 句型。

有时说话人的观点和态度会在对话中直接表达出来,但大多数情况下说话者表达观点和看法的方式比较含蓄,不为选择答案提供直接的信息。
常见提问方式:What does the man/woman think of…?What does the man/woman say about…?What does the man/woman imply?What’s the man’s/woman’s attitude/response/opinion?What can be concluded/inferred from the conversation?What does the man/woman like it?解题技巧:1. 捕捉关键词。
捕捉表示人物观点和态度的关键词。
2. 把握对话人的语气和语调。
在把握对话人的语气和语调的基础上,利用逻辑思维和背景知识进行推理和判断,找到问题的答案。
一般情况下陈述句用降调,如用声调则表示怀疑;一般疑问句通常用声调,如用降调则表示肯定。
3. 根据选项确定听的重点。
如果选项中包含反应人的态度的形容词,如impatient, bored, curious, satisfied, optimistic等等,那么可以判断这是一道态度题。
在阅读选项时,要注意代词he, she or they, 今早把握考察的是男士、女士,还是他们共同的对某事的态度。
比较题型分析比较题的出题方式有其自身的特点,其中有些是直接进行比较,这样的题比较容易,在做题时,关键要听清“but, while”之类的表示类比关系的一些词语。
但在近年的考试中,多含有具有比较意义的词语、短语或比较级句型,比较的意思隐含在句子中,不是直接说出来,这样就增加了试题的难度。
表达比较的方式:同级比较(同级肯定或否定):look like, seem like, resemble, the same as, as…as, no more than, be alike/identical/equal, neither/nor, so, either, too不同级比较:less/more…than, not as/so…, superior/inferior/prior to, exceed/surpass, would rather, prefer否定+比较级=最高级(加强肯定)Nothing is more important than art. I couldn’t be more pleased with the news.I couldn’t agree with you more. It couldn’t be worse.It couldn’t be better.解题技巧:1. 注意转折词。
在解答这类题型时,要注意对话中一些关键的转折词,如“but, while, whereas”等。
这类题的关键一般在第二句话。
2. 运用排除法。
如果有些选项表达的意思大致相同,选A选B都可以,那么这两项很可能都不是答案。
3. 巧抓隐含信息,边听边记。
考生在浏览选项时要注意抓住一些隐含信息,如果对话较长或有两个以上的比较对象,考生可以适当做些标记或笔记,以便进行比较。
4. “否定+比较级”,选肯定句。
在遇见“否定+比较级”结构时,一般来说,只要听到couldn’t之类的情态动词的否定结构和比较级连用,在选项中直接找带有加强语气的肯定句,往往能迅速准确地找到答案。
4. 职业关系、场景推断和虚拟语气常见提问方式:What did the conversation mostly take place?What can we infer from the conversation?What are the speakers talking about?What is the probable relationship between the two speakers?What does the man/woman imply?职业关系与其他种类的题目相比,对“职业和关系”的提问比较难,这类题目的答案一般不能直接从听力材料中找到,要充分运用常识和逻辑推理能力。
解题技巧:听关键词作判断。
这类题主要考察考生对于谈话一方所从事的职业的判断,或判断谈话双方之间的关系。
如“真题练习:1”。
场景推断在四级听力考试中,对地点的询问是每年的必考项目。
所询问的主要是关于谈话或事情发生的地点,提问的方式以where引导的特殊疑问句为主。
解题技巧:抓关键信息猜地点。
这类题可分为两种:1)猜测地点,2)确认地点。
猜测地点这类题在谈话中一般不提及地点,但可从谈话中所提及的关键词推测谈话的地点。
1. 跟职业身份题一样,考前迅速浏览选项,只要看到四个选项均与场所或人物身份有关,就要在听的过程中把注意力集中到对话中出现的场所和人物身上。
2. 将听到的关键词在试卷上做好标记,包括选项中没有出现的场所。
3. 切忌要听清问题,这一点十分关键。
虚拟语气虚拟语气表达说话人的愿望、请求、意图、惊奇、设想等不可能实现的情况。
此类题型主要测试学生对虚拟语气用词和结构的理解。
