Tothis end, teachers should enlarge class language input, ask students to conduct lots of reading and listening practices,and at thesame time guide and encourage students to actively output their writtenand spoken language.II.Teaching Material 教材As far as I am concerned, I have a high opinion of this textbook. Each unit is arranged to compass comprehensive languagepoints, including vocabulary, sentence structure, text structure analysis, and reading and writing skills. In the long run, studentswouldcommandEnglishsystematically.Mostimportantly,itcontainsmoreorala ndidiomaticexpressionsthanmanyothertextbooks.However, since textual knowledge is important for students to get a better understanding of reading materials, I personally thinkthat this textbook lacksvariation in text type. For example, most texts in this book belong to narration.III. Teaching Subjects教学对象Our students are non-English-major freshmen. Text Learning(1) the first stage--To snatch a general understanding of the text in an eagleeyesLet ’s firstly see the title “Marriage across nations ”. From it, we knBut we cannot decide its type. Just by the title,the text may be an exposition, or a narration.Let ’s go on by skipping and scanning, that is, look at the first and the last paragraphs, and the first sentences in each paragraph.From four characters, lots ofdirect quotations, time order, and past tensewe know it , whic’h is a u n s u a a r r l a l y t i o n developedin time order. So now we can grasp the main idea of the text and divide itinto three parts.We can help students get the above understanding by interrogating questions,like Q1: who are the characters mentioned in thearticle? Find out the briefinformation about them. Q2: can we divide the text by characters-shift, and how todivide it?(2) the second stage--To understand the whole text carefullyIn this phase, we need pay more attention to heavy sentences and sentenceswith implied meanings.
