Giving first concern and priority to human beings, attaching greater importance to ethical values, and paying more attention to moral standards are the characteristics of traditional Chinese culture. The fundamentals of traditional Chinese culture are to affirm that human beings are the most important between heaven and earth, and that human beings should be given the highest status among all the living creatures.
The Thought of Ren (Benevolence)
仁的思想是中国古代治 理国家的根本思想，并以此为 核心形成了一整套伦理、价值 观念。这些观念可以用“仁、 义、礼、智、信”五个字来概 括。
Benevolence is the fundamental thought in running a country in ancient China. A complete system of ethics and value judgments have been evolved with benevolence as its core. These ethics and value judgments can be best summarized with the following five words: Benevolence, Righteousness(justice), Rites (rituals/courtesy), Wisdom, and Faith.
