2019 中考英语阅读理解金题(4)【能力选练】 A(2019 中考训练题)People often think of the North Pole(北极) and the South Pole as similar frozen(冰冻的)wastelands. They are both places with very cold temperatures and few people live there. However, the North and South Poles are not much alike as people may imagine. The North Pole has no land, only thick ice. Temperatures seldom go above 32°F, at which water turns into ice. Most of the time, it stays below zero. In winter temperatures are usually as low as -30°F.Although conditions were very poor, people tried for many centuries to reach the North Pole. About 100 years ago, two men, Robert Peary and Mathew Henson, were able to get to this environment full of troubles and difficulties. They reached the North Pole on March 8th, 1909. It was really a hard trip for them. There are few things more dangerous than crossing the Arctic(北极圈) on foot. People who stayed there may face many problems: very cold temperatures, sudden storms, and even hunger. Most of the area is uninhabited. Few people can live in such a difficult place.People might think that with such low temperatures for most of the year, the ice would be thick and hard. However, this is not true in the Arctic. The movement of the ocean water under the ice may often cause many different changes on the surface. Sometimes the ice breaks into two opening lanes of water(水道) called “leads”. Anyone who falls into a lead can be frozen to death in a few minutes.1.This passage is probably from .A. a book review B. a science bookC. a school report D. a computer magazine2.According to the passage, what happened about 100 years ago ?A.Two men succeeded in getting to the North Pole.B.Temperatures in the North Pole went above 32°F.C.The environment in the North Pole suddenly became worse.D.The North Pole changed into thick ice because of the temperatures.3.What does the underlined word “uninhabited” probably mean in Chinese?A.气候恶劣的B.充满危险的C.困难重重的D.无人居住的4.The reason for the ice to break into two opening lanes of water is . 2019高考英语二轮阅读理解金题编(1)及解析
2019高考英语二轮阅读理解金题编(一)及解析Section AA(2018吉林三调,D)Failure is probably the most exhausting experience a person ever has. There is nothing more tiring than not succeeding. We experience this tiredness in two ways: as start-up fatigue(疲惫)and performance fatigue. In the former case, we keep putting off a task because it is either too boring or too difficult. And the longer we delay it, the more tired we feel.Such start-up fatigue is very real, even if not actually physical, not something in our muscles and bones. The solution is obvious though perhaps not easy to apply: always handle the most difficult job first.Years ago, I was asked to write 102 essays on the great ideas of some famous authors. Applying my own rule, I determined to write them in alphabetical order(按字母顺序), never letting myself leave out a tough idea. And I always started the day’s work with the difficult task of essay-writing.Experience proved that the rule works.Performance fatigue is more difficult to handle. Though willing to get started, we cannot seem to do the job right. Its difficulties appear so great that, however hard we work, we fail again and again. In such a situation, I work as hard as I can—then let the unconscious take over. When planning Encyclopaedia Britannica(《大英百科全书》), I had to create a table of contents based on the topics of its articles. Nothing like this had ever been done before, and day after day I kept coming up with solutions, but none of them worked. My fatigue became almost unbearable. One day, mentally exhausted, I wrote down all the reasons why this problem could not be solved. I tried to convince myself that the trouble was with the problem itself, not with me. Relieved, I sat back in an easy chair and fell asleep. An hour later, I woke up suddenly with the solution clearly in mind. In the weeks that followed, the solution which had come up in my unconscious mind provedcorrect at every step. Though I worked as hard as before, I felt no fatigue. Success was now as exciting as failure had been depressing.Human beings, I believe, must try to succeed. Success, then, means never feeling tired.1.People with start-up fatigue are most likely to.A.delay tasksB.work hardC.seek helpD.accept failure2.What does the author recommend doing to prevent start-up fatigue?A.Writing essays in strict order.B.Building up physical strength.C.Leaving out the toughest ideas.D.Dealing with the hardest task first.3.On what occasion does a person probably suffer from performance fatigue?A.Before starting a difficult task.B.When all the solutions fail.C.If the job is rather boring.D.After finding a way out.4.According to the author, the unconscious mind may help us.A.ignore mental problemsB.get some nice sleepC.gain complete reliefD.find the right solutionB(2017山东临沂三模)Sometimes the toughest thing about feelings is sharing them with others.Sharing your feelings helps you whether your feelings are wonderful or terrible.Sharing also helps you to get closer to people you care about and who care about you.But how?You can’t tell your friends what’s inside your backpack if you don’t know what’s in there yourself.Feelings are the same way. Before you can share them with anyone, you have to figure out what feelings you have.Making a list of your feelings can help. You can do this in your mind or by writing them out or even by drawing pictures. Is something bothering you?Does it make you frustrated or terrified?Do you feel this emotion only once in a while or most of the time? The way a person feels inside is important. If you keep feelings locked inside,it can even make you feel sick! But if you talk with someone who cares for you,you will almost always start to feel better. It doesn’t mean your problems and worries magically disappear, but at least someone else knows what’s bothering you and can help you find solutions.Your mom and dad want to know if you have problems and what’s happening in your life. But what if a kid doesn’t want to talk with parents? Then find another adult you trust, like a relative or a teacher at school.Maybe this person can help you talk with your parents about your problem or concern.Once you know who you can talk with, you’ll want to pick a time and place to talk. You can talk publicly in your family. But some kids are more private than others and they will feel shy about sharing their feelings. Then find a quiet place or write it down on a piece of paper.A kid doesn’t have to share every feeling he or she has.5.What does the passage mainly tell us?A.The importance of feelings.B.How to figure out your feelings.C.How to share your feelings.D.The people sharing your feelings.6.What can we learn from Paragraph 2?A.Kids can’t tell their friends about their backpacks.B.Kids should know about themselves first before sharing.C.Kids need to find out what others think of them first.D.Kids’ feelings are the same in a way.7.What might happen after sharing your feelings with others?A.You’ll recover from your illness.B.You will feel relieved.C.Your worries will magically disappear.D.You’ll like more private talks.8.Where is this passage probably taken from?A.A science fiction.B.A parents’ brochure.C.A children’s magazine.D.A notice board.Section B(2018安徽江南十校3月联考,B)My friend Jennifer was going to be at my school!I was convinced that we would be best friends. She introduced me to her friend Amy and we had lots of fun together. But things started to change. Jennifer wanted to be the “leader”of our little group. She was controlling, and I couldn’t make new friends. If I made new friends, she would decide that I was“mad at her”. Pretty soon being Jennifer’s friend was a struggle.I always waited for Jennifer and Amy after class, but sometimes when they left, they’d walk right past me as if they couldn’t even see me.We often gossiped about people, and I soon realized that nobody was good enough for Jennifer. She had a list of bad things about everybody, even Amy, and about me, I guessed. I had changed—I became moody, depressed, and lonely. I spent days trying not to cry. I felt so left out. Finally, something snapped. I was sick of having to battle for friendship. I stopped sitting with Jennifer at lunch and waiting for her after class. Jennifer quickly announced I was “mad at her”. I said, “I’m not mad. I just want to make more friends.”But to Jennifer, it was all or nothing, and she was convinced I was mad at her. Our friendship fell to pieces. It was tough at first, but I found many girls whom Jennifer had classified as “moody”or “mean”to be the sweetest, friendliest people in the world. Now, I have tons of friends. They support me when I am sad, and I support them. We have fun together and I love them all. It amazes me how easy our friendship is. There is no struggling to be on top—we are all equal. It doesn’t matter to me if two of them walk away or buy friendship necklaces together. It doesn’t hurt my feelings or make me feel alone.I lost a friend, but I am a happier person now.1.The writer thought Jennifer.A.far too outstanding to matchB.rather annoying and dullC.too self-centeredD.the right one to make friends with2.What does the underlined part “something snapped”in Paragraph 4 mean?A.The writer and Jennifer hated each other.B.The writer and Jennifer broke up.C.Jennifer treated the writer worse.D.The writer felt mad about losing Jennifer.3.The writer decided to break up with Jennifer because.A.Jennifer spoke ill of her behind her backB.she had made other friendsC.Jennifer had hurt her feelingsD.other girls were sweeter and friendlier than Jennifer4.What can be inferred from the passage?A.The writer now regrets losing her friend Jennifer.B.The writer still gets upset when left out occasionally.C.The writer’s new friends are all moody and mean.D.The writer enjoys more than just one friendship.Section CAStained glass (彩色玻璃) artists create different designs by making cuts on the glass to “score”it and then breaking off the pattern that they want to use in the finished product. The most difficult cut in stained glass is called an inside cut. Basically, it’s a curved (弯曲的) line where you throw away the part inside of the curve. The problem with inside cuts is that the edges of the curve tend to break off when the pieces of scored glass are broken apart. As an artist talked about inside cuts, he said, “The glass will break into pieces if you try to cut too much off at once. The best way to do an inside cut is slice off smaller curves piece by piece. In fact, it’s not just the best way to do it, but it’s the only way to do it.”How many times do you try to make a big change and cut the entire piece at once? We convince ourselves that we can do this all the time. We’ll commit to transforming our diet overnight or we get inspired to launch a business in a weekend or we finally get motivated to work out and push ourselves to the edge of burning out.Why not approach your goals and dreams like the stained glass artist? Starting by slicing a shallow curve and breaking a small piece off, you cut a slightly deeper curve and break that off until you have your full inside cuts. By slowly cutting deeper and deeper curves, you prevent the glass from breaking as it change shapes.Of course, changing isn’t easy—no matter how you do it. Slow gains are boring, but if we keep making small improvements, then pretty soon we will end up with a beautiful masterpiece instead of a bunch of broken pieces.1.Why is an inside cut believed to be the most difficult?A.It needs a one-and-only design.B.It calls for nothing but inspiration.C.The edges of the curve break easily.D.The glass inside the curve is easily broken.2.What mistakes are easily made according to Paragraph 3?A.Being too eager to make improvements.B.Being too worried about the final outcome.C.Trying to make a complete change all at once.D.Developing to focus on progress instead of achievements.3.What does the author suggest by saying “slicing a shallow curve”?A.Moving forward with a clear aim.B.Starting slow and improving little by little.C.Developing a new habit with great determination.D.Handling something major first and ignore the minor part.4.What is the author’s purpose in writing the text?A.To show his love of stained glass.B.To introduce the skill of an inside cut.C.To appreciate designs of stained glass artists.D.To share his opinions on how to make a change.B(2017湖北武汉4月调研)Crying is the rawest sign of human emotions. We cry when we can’t hold inside what we feel any more. We cry when we’re at our best, and when we’re at our worst. By we, I mean all of us. Men included. But we never see other men cry. In no western culture has it ever been acceptable for men to shed (流泪) more than a single tear, and even then it’s reserved for grand victories, defeats and deaths. A Dutch research suggests that women cry between three and five times more than men. Generally men and women cry primarily over the same things—deaths, break-ups and homesickness, but researchers believe that men cry more often than women when it comes to positive events.I want to admit—I’m a bit of a crier. However, having never really experienced deaths in my life, a few weeks ago I experienced what it means to really, truly, pour my heart out in tears.See, my dog was killed by a car right outside my house. Being a witness to this painful event left me in shock for a good hour, but then the floodgates opened. Over the next 48 hours, I might have cried 20 times. Once or twice I crouched(蹲) on the floor with my head in my hands and tears were the only outlet. It is suggested in the book Adult Crying:A Biopsychosocial Approach that there’s a certain pleasure in crying. It helps ease stress when there is no other way to express ourselves. In those days after my dog’s death, I remember thinking, “I’ve got to stop this crying.”It felt unmanly. It felt like a sign of weakness. I’ve since realized that tears are for everybody;they’re not gender-specific. They show we have sympathy, and allow us to get rid of stress and just feel.5.What does the first paragraph mainly talk about?A.Crying is a raw human emotion.B.Crying is an emotion beyond control.C.Crying is an emotion showing sadness.D.Crying is an emotion showing happiness.6.What’s the difference between men and women in crying according to the Dutch research?A.They cry over different matters.B.They cry at different times of life.C.Women cry more often over deaths.D.Men are more likely to have tears of joy.7.What did the author think of his crying over his dog’s death?A.A sign of strength.B.A sign of weakness.C.Behavior of being womanish.D.A way of reducing emotional stress.8.What’s the best title for the text?A.Men, never cry like womenB.Men, it’s OK to cry sometimesC.Crying solves psychological problemsD.Crying explains differences between men and womenSection D(2018内蒙古呼和浩特第一次质量调研,C)Why do you go to the library? For books, yes—but you like books because they tell stories. You hope to get lost in a story or be transported into someone else’s life. At one type of library you can do just that—even though there’s not a single book.At a Human Library, instead of books, you can “borrow”people. People with unique life stories volunteer to be the “books”. For a certain amount of time, you can ask them questions and listen to their stories, which are as fascinating as any you canfind in a book. (If you attend, make sure to review the habits that make you a good listener.) Many of the stories have to do with depressing topics. You can speak with a refugee, a soldier suffering from PTSD(创伤后应激障碍), a homeless person or a woman living with HIV. The Human Library encourages people to take time to truly get to know and learn from someone they might otherwise make a snap judgement about. According to its website, the Human Library is “a place where difficult questions are expected, appreciated and answered”.The Human Library Organization came into being in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2000.Ronni Abergel, his brother, and some colleagues hosted a four-day event during a major Northern European festival. After the success of this event, Abergel founded the Human Library Organization, which has been growing ever since.Though there are a few permanent human libraries, most aren’t places at all, but events. Though many do take place at physical libraries, you don’t need a library card—anyone can come and be part of the experience. There have been Human Library events all over the globe, in universities and in pubs, from Chicago to Tunis to Edinburgh to San Antonio. 2019年高考英语二轮专题复习训练:专题1阅读理解考点3即时巩固含答案
第一编专题一考点3A(2018·天津,C) There’s a new frontier in 3D printing that’s beginning to come into focus:food. Recent development has made possible machines that print, cook, and serve foods on a mass scale. And the industry isn’t stopping there.Food productionWith a 3D printer,a cook can print complicated chocolate sculptures and beautiful pieces for decoration on a wedding cake. Not everybody can do that—it takes years of experience, but a printer makes it easy. A restaurant in Spain uses a Foodini to “re-create forms and pieces” of food that are “exactly the same,” freeing cooks to complete other tasks. In another restaurant, all of the dishes and desserts it serves are 3D-printed,rather than farm to table.Sustainability(可持续性)The global population is expected to grow to 9. 6 billion by 2050,and some analysts estimate that food production will need to be raised by 50 percent to maintain current levels. Sustainability is becoming a necessity. 3D food printing could probably contribute to the solution. Some experts believe printers could use hydrocolloids(水解胶体)from plentiful renewables like algae (藻类) and grass to replace the familiar ingredients (烹饪原料). 3D printing can reduce fuel use and emissions. Grocery stores of the future might stock “food” that lasts years on end, freeing up shelf space and reducing transportation and storage requirements.NutritionFuture 3D food printers could make processed food healthier. Hod Lipson,a professor at Columbia University, said,“Food printing could allow consumers to print food with customized nutritional content, like vitamins. So instead of eating a piece of yesterday’s bread from the supermarket, you’d eat something baked just for you on demand. ”ChallengesDespite recent advancements in 3D food printing, the industry has many challenges to overcome. Currently, most ingredients must be changed to a paste(糊状物) before a printer can use them, and the printing process is quite time-consuming,because ingredients interact with each other in very complex ways. On top of that, most of the 3D food printers now are restricted to dry ingredients, because meat and milk products may easily go bad. Some experts are skeptical about 3D food printers, believing they are better suited for fast food restaurants than homes and high-end restaurants.文章大意:本文是一篇科普文章。

Few want to live without search engines or a quick delivery, Far from charging consumers high prices, many of these services are free (users pay, in effect, by handing over yet more data). And the appearance of new-born giants suggests that newcomers can make waves, too.But there is cause for concern. The internet has made data abundant, all-present and far more valuable, changing the nature of data and competition. Google initially used the data collected from users to target advertising better. But recently it has discovered that data can be turned into new services: translation and visual recognition, to be sold to other companies. Internet companies’ control of data gives them enormous power. So they have a “God’s eye view” of activities in their own markets and beyond. This nature of data makes the antitrust measures of the past less useful. Breaking up firms like Google into five small ones would not stop remaking themselves: in time, one of them would become great again. A rethink is required—and as a new approach starts to become apparent, two ideas stand out.The first is that antitrust authorities need to move form the industrial age into the21st century. When considering a merger(兼并),for example, they have traditionally used size to determine when to step in. They now need to take into account the extent of firms' data assets(资产) when assessing the impact of deals. The purchase price could also be a signal that an established company is buying a new-borm threat. When this takes place, especially when anew-born company has no revenue to speak of, the regulators should raise red flags. The second principle is to loosen the control that providers of on-line services have over data and give more to those who supply panies could be forced to consumers whatinformation they hold and how many money they make form emments could order the sharing of certain kinds of data, with users' consent.Restarting antitrust for the information age will not be easy But if govemments don't wants a data oconomy by a few giants, they must act soon.1.Why is there a call to break up giants?A.They have controlled the data marketB.They collect enormous private dataC.They no longer provide free servicesD.They dismissed some new-born giants2.What does the technological innovation in Paragraph 3 indicate?A.Data giants’ technology is very expensiveB.Google’s idea is popular among data firmsC.Data can strengthen giants’ controlling posit ionD.Data can be turned into new services or products3.By paying attention to firms’ data assets, antitrust regulators could .A.kill a new threatB.avoid the size trapC.favour bigger firmsD.charge higher prices4.What is the purpose of loosening the giants’ control of data?A.Big companies could relieve data security pressure.ernments could relieve their financial pressure.C.Consumers could better protect their privacy.D.Small companies could get more opportunities.2 、El Nino, a Spanish term for “the Christ child”, was named by South American fisherman who noticed that the global weather pattern, which happens every two to seven years, reduced the amount of fishes caught around Christmas. El Nifio sees warm water, collected over several years in the western Pacific, flow back eastwards when winds that normally blow westwards weaken, or sometimes the other way round. The weather effects both good and bad, are felt in many places. Rich countries gain more from powerful Niños, on balance, than they lose. A study found that a strong Niño in 1997 helped American’s economy grow by 15 billion, partly because of better agricultural harvest, farmers in the Midwest gained from extra rain. The total rise in agricultural in rich countries in growth than the fall in poor ones. But in Indonesia extremely dry forests are in flames. A multi-year drought (干旱)insouth-east Brazil is becoming worse. Though heavy rains brought about by El Niño may relieve the drought in California, they are likely to cause surface flooding and other disasters. The most recent powerful Niño, in 1997-98, killed around 21,000 people and caused damage worth $36 billion around the globe. But such Niños come with months of warning, and so much is known about how they happen that governments can prepare. According to the Overseas Development Institute (ODI), however, just 12% of disaster-relief funding in the past two decades has gone on reducing risks in advance, rather than recovery and rebuilding afterwards. This is despite evidence that a dollar spent on risk-reduction saves at least two on reconstruction.Simple improvements to infrastructure (基础设施)can reduce the spread of disease. Better sewers (下水道)make it less likely that heavy rain is followed by an outbreak of the disease of bad stomach. Stronger bridges mean villages are less likely to be left without food and medicine after floods. According to a paper in 2011 by Mr Hsiang and co-authors, civil conflict is related to El Niño's harmful effects—and the poorer the country, the stronger the link. Though the relationship may not be causal, helping divided communities to prepare for disasters would at least reduce the risk that those disasters are followed by killing and wounding people. Since the poorest are least likely to make up for their losses from disasters linked to El Niño, reducing their losses needs to be the priority.1.What can we learn about El Nino in Paragraph 1?A.It is named after a South American fisherman.B.It takes place almost every year all over the world.C.It forces fishermen to stop catching fish around Christmas.D.It sees the changes of water flow direction in the ocean.2.What may El Niños bring about to the countries affected?A.Agricultural harvests in rich countries fall.B.Droughts become more harmful than floods.C.Rich countries’ gains are greater than their losses.D.Poor countries suffer less from droughts economically.3.The data provided by ODI in Paragraph 4 suggest that_________.A.more investment should go to risk reductionernments of poor countries need more aidC.victims of El Niño deserve more compensationD.recovery and reconstruction should come first4.What is the author’s purpose in writing the passage?A.To introduce El Niño and its origin.B.To explain the consequences of El Niño.C.To show ways of fighting against El Niño.D.To urge people to prepare for El Niño.3、 While WeChat is China's biggest mobile messaging app (应用软件),there are many equivalent(相当的) apps in other countries that offer similar features(特征).WhatsApp (US)Users: more than 300 millionPlatforms: Android, 10S, Windows Phone, BlackBerryFeatures:Text chat, push-to-talk, file sharing, location sharingWith more than 300 million active users, WhatsApp is one of WeChat's biggest competitors. But Xing Pu, a 40-year-old economist, is asking the government to give red packets to every Chinese citizen.Xing suggested the government give out 1,000 yuan to each Chinese since the government income has increased rapidly in recent years. He said his suggestion would allow everyone to directly enjoy the fruits of the country’s economic success, help the lower-income groups deal with rising prices and increase consumption(消费)around the country.Recent years have seen the government carry out a series of pro-poor(扶贫)and pro-rural(惠农)policies(政策),including increasing spending on public health-care and cutting down the agricultural tax. But the lower-income group still needs more help.Xing said he has borrowed many ideas from practices in countries like theUnited StatesandSingapore. Earlier this year, the governments of the two nations offered cash handouts(救济)to their citizens. As for inChina, “We can even encourage the rich to donate their 1,000 yuan red packet to the poor,” said Xing.Although Xing’s suggestion has gained wide support among ordinary Chinese on the Internet, many other economists criticized it as unpractical. “To better use the increase of money, handing out money is not a solution that holds good for all time. At that time, “rhythm and blue” music was very popular with black Americans. “R&B” wa s a mixture of black religious music and jazz. By the mid-1950s, this new white R&B music, called r ock ’n’ roll, had become very popular. Singers like Elvis Presley and Bill Haley attracted millions of teenage fans. McDonald’s, Apple, Mercedes Benz and Ad idas own great logos as well, and they are among my favorites.NikeIn the Greek myth, Nike is the goddess of victory and the source of inspiration for soldiers. The first logo was a reference to the religious story of Adam and Eve, in which the apple represented the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge. One year later, the second logo was designed in 1977 by Steven Jobs and Ronald Wayne, and it described Sir Isaac Newton sitting under an apple tree. This logo didn’t stay long. One year later it was replaced almost immediately by graphic designer Rob Janoff’s “rainbow apple”, arainbow-colored silhouette (轮廓) of an apple with a bite taken out of it. And then therainbow-colored apple was replaced by the one-colored logo in 1998. It has not been changed so far.Mercedes BenzThe Mercedes Benz logo, which was originally created by Gottlieb Daimler in 1909, consists of a simple description of a three- pointed star that represents its rule of the land, the sea and the air.
