The idea might sound attractive, but the communal online encyclopedias have several important problems that make them much less valuable than traditional, printed encyclopedias.First, contributors to a communal online encyclopedia often lack academic credentials, thereby making their contributions partially informed at best and downright inaccurate in many cases. Traditional encyclopedias are written by trained experts who adhere to standards of academic rigor that nonspecialists cannot really achieve.Second, even if the original entry in the online encyclopedia is correct, the communal nature of these online encyclopedias gives unscrupulous users and vandals or hackers the opportunity to fabricate, delete, and corrupt information in the encyclopedia. In this case a sense of family responsibility can easily be developed.Unlikepets that entertain children only as play dates, family members actuallybring human bond thatdeservesmore attention;andthusto give children such errands to run is definitely abetteroption.
Admittedly, taking care of a pet may be a good way for children to learn about responsibility. Sincepets need to be fed morning and night, children would learn how to schedule time and become more attentive.Besides, pet’s cage needs cleaning regularly;in this way / underthis circumstancechildren learn to be more considerate and share some housework with family.When a pet becomes sick, children also need to take it to clinic, which allows him to be more self-reliant and responsible.However, to say keeping a pet is the best way is an overstatement.
