雅思剑15 test1 作文

雅思剑15 test1 作文英文回答:In today's rapidly globalizing world, it has often been argued that the increasing interconnectedness and interdependence of nations have made the world a more peaceful place. However, while it is true thattechnological advancements and economic integration haveled to increased cooperation and dialogue between countries, it is also important to acknowledge that conflicts and tensions persist in many parts of the world. One of the main arguments in favor of the view that globalization promotes peace is that it fosters economic interdependence between nations. When countries are heavily engaged in trade and investment with each other, they become less likely to resort to military conflict, as such actions would disrupt their economic ties and harm their respective economies. This logic is based on the assumption that economic self-interest will outweigh nationalisticimpulses and prevent countries from engaging in costly and destructive wars.Another argument is that globalization increases communication and understanding between people from different cultures. With the advent of the internet and social media, individuals can now connect with people from all over the world, share their experiences, and learn about different perspectives. This increased exposure to diverse cultures can break down stereotypes and prejudices, fostering empathy and promoting tolerance. However, it is important to recognize thatglobalization also has its drawbacks when it comes to peace and conflict. One concern is that economic inequality between countries can lead to resentment and social unrest, which can in turn fuel conflict. For example, if a country experiences rapid economic growth while its neighbors lag behind, this can create tensions and resentment that can lead to conflict.Another concern is that globalization can lead to thespread of extremist ideologies and propaganda. With the ease of access to information and communication technologies, extremist groups can disseminate their messages to a wider audience, potentially radicalizing individuals and inciting violence. In conclusion, while globalization has undoubtedly brought about many positive developments that have contributed to peace, it is also important to acknowledge its potential pitfalls. The increasing interconnectedness and interdependence of nations can promote cooperation and understanding, but it can also exacerbate inequality and facilitate the spread of extremism. Therefore, it is crucial for policymakers and world leaders to carefully consider the complex effects of globalization on peace and conflict, and to implement policies that seek to maximize its benefits while mitigating its risks.中文回答:在当今快速全球化的世界中,有人经常认为,各国日益增长的相互联系和相互依存使得世界变得更加和平。

剑桥雅思真题15-写作(Test 1 附高分范文)

剑桥雅思真题14—写作(Test 3 附高分范文)Writing Task 1You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.Write at least 150 words.参考范文1:The bar chart gives information about people’s habits of purchasing and drinking coffee and tea in different cities in Australia, according to the results of a survey. To sum up, it can be immediately seen that people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits are similar in all five cities except in Adelaide.Buying coffee or tea in a cafe is the most popular among the people in Sydney as well as Melbourne, Brisbane and Hobart, especially in Sydney where almost 63% of drinkers have such a habit. The proportions of cafe visitors are marginally lower in the other three cities, ranging from 56% to 62%. However, the percentage of fresh coffee buyers is the smallest in all four cities, with that of the buyers in Brisbane the lowest, at merely 34%. Meanwhile, the popularity of drinking instant coffee is between that of visiting a cafe and that of buying fresh coffee. The pattern, however, is different in Adelaide, where instant coffee is people’s preference, with half of them involved in the purchase. The percentage of cafe visitors is quite similar, at justbelow 50%, while fresh coffee is the least popular.参考范文2:The chart illustrates preference of citizens’ purchasing and consuming tea and coffee in five cities, i.e., Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Hobart. Five cities shared overall consistency, but there were still some trivial divergences.According to the analytical result from people’s buying behavior in the last four weeks, with more than 45 percent of people going to cafe for coffee or tea, people in five cities consistently had preference on cafe, and three cities, Sydney, Melbourne and Hobart embraced this preference more obviously than the other two. Adelaide showed tiny divergence at this point. With approximately half of residents preferring instant coffee, there were slightly less people in Adelaide choosing cafe. Similarly, instant coffee ranked the second place in five cities, except for Adelaide. Buying fresh coffee won least preference from all five cities. Though citizens in Sydney and Melbourne conveyed a relatively higher preference on this option, with less than 45 percent of residents choosing it, fresh coffee was still the least favorable option in these two cities. In Brisbane, Adelaide and Hobart, fresh coffee saw a larger gap with other two options, with a percentage of less than 40 percent, or even 30 percent.Writing Task 2You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.Write about the following topic:Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.Write at least 250 words.参考范文:With increased population mobility attributable to accelerated urbanization and globalization, it is common for people to change their living places more than once by renting houses. However, owning a home is still valued in some countries, especially in my country, China. This can be explained from social and personal angles.China is a country where hukou (household registration) system invariably plays a crucial part in one’s life. Its importance reaches a peak when people consider sending their children to a reputable school, which admits students largely on the basis of their registered permanent residence, i.e. where their own house is located. Therefore, many people rush to buy houses located near famous schools. In addition, house ownership provides a sense of security and ease, which is inherent in Chinese people’s nature. Having a house to call their own can surely relieve their pressure especially after a day’s tiring work, and they can decorate the home in whatever way they like. By contrast, living in a rented house, people may have to put up with what the house is like, or worse, deal with old furniture or house appliances which frequently break down.Despite the above mentioned reasons for owning a home, I think it is a negative trend if all people live for house ownership. My strong argument is that housing prices in cities, particularlyfirst-tier cities, are really exorbitant. A common couple may have to work for decades to afford a livable flat in Shanghai in the suburbs. With money being the major goal in career, people may have to sacrifice their health, their time with family or even their passion for dreams, which, I believe, are more important for one’s wellbeing. Secondly, with globalization, people are no longer restricted in one place in terms of education and work. Thus, renting a house may be a feasible choice. In this way, they can save the complex procedures of buying and selling a house. In summary, it is true that owning a house matters for some and brings many advantages, but it is far from beneficial for everyone to struggle to have a one.。

雅思15test1 范文题目(假设是小作文中的图表题,比如柱状图描述不同国家在某一年的旅游人数之类的情况)The bar chart shows the number of international tourists visiting four different countries in 2019.Well, let's take a peek at this bar chart that's like a little snapshot of the tourism world in 2019 for these four countries.First off, there's Country A. Oh boy, it's like the superstar of this chart! It had a whopping number of international tourists. You can almost imagine its attractions just pulling people in like a powerful magnet. It's way ahead of the other three countries, standing tall with a number that makes the others look a bit puny in comparison. Then there's Country B. It's not doing too shabby either, but it's kind of like the middle of the road kid. It has a decent number of tourists, but it's not anywhere near as popular as Country A. It's like it has its own charm, but just not as much of a global draw.Country C and Country D are more like the underdogs here. Country C has a relatively small number of tourists. It's as if it's still waiting for the world to really discover its hidden gems. And Country D, well, it has the least number of international visitors among these four. It's like it's still in the starting blocks when it comes to attracting international tourists. Maybe it needs to do some serious marketing or spruce up its attractions a bit.Overall, this bar chart gives us a clear picture of how these four countries stack up in terms of attracting international tourists in 2019.Country A is the clear winner, while Country D has a long way to go if it wants to catch up.。

The lecture completely refutes the reading passage.First of all, the writer presents an idea that the build of national fence may work. In contrast, the professor believes that the fence cannot effectively stop the toads from spreading. In order to prove this point, some details are provided by her that the young toads as well as the eggs of the toads are always inhabit nearby the stream, so the stream can carry them to the other sides. This contradicts what the reading passage indicates.Besides, the listening material refutes the viewpoint showed in the passage that the toads can captured by the volunteers, and the eggs even easier to be captured and destroyed, by saying that the untrained volunteer are at high possibility to destroyed cause the decline of the native frogs, some of which are even endangered. She argues that the native frogs' eggs are hard to distinguish with the eggs of toads. This is another part where the lecture casts doubt on the reading. Finally, the reading makes the point that the scientists have made the medicine so-called disease-causing virus to control the cane toad populations. On the contrary, the speaker holds a different point of view by saying that the toads toad terrible effect the ecological balance. Specifically, the lecturer states that the virus may cause the moving of the cane toad, which may carry the virus, to the other countries, in the end, destroy the ecosystem. The two ideas are just contradictory to each other.。

雅思(写作)历年真题试卷汇编15(题后含答案及解析)

雅思(写作)历年真题试卷汇编15(题后含答案及解析) 题型有: 2. WRITING TASK 2WRITING TASK 2You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.1.In modern world it is no longer necessary to use animals for food or use animal products, for instance, clothing and medicines. To what extent do you agree or disagree? (2016-03-12)正确答案:Technology is amazing and changing fast. Crops can be grown in controlled conditions to produce the huge quantities needed to feed people, and vegetable protein substitutes mean that people do not have to eat meat. Synthetic fibres mean that alternatives to wool and leather are readily available, and are usually cheaper. However, people still choose to cat crops that are grown in a more traditional manner, and people still choose to eat meat. Eating is still bound up with social convention and tradition. People can and do survive on completely artificial food, but they miss the social aspect of sharing food with family and friends. Eating traditional food, especially on special occasions, is still important to us. The animals who share our world are important to us. If we had no use for domestic animals they would cease to exist. Animals are bred for meat, as producers of dairy products, or for their fur or skins as well as by-products such as glue. If farmers can’t sell the products, they will not breed the animals. In England, we have a number of examples where traditional husbandry of animals is important. In the Lake District, flocks of sheep known as Herdwick sheep live in the inhospitable hills. They make the landscape what it is, and people go out and walk, climb or ride to enjoy the stunning countryside. The sheep are ‘hefted’, which means that they know which hillside (or fell side as it is called there) they live on. Their wool is very thick and strong, ideal for outdoor coats and carpets. Farmers are trying very hard to get people to buy products made of wool. In the lowland areas sheep produce softer wool suitable for clothing, and again people are encouraged to use it. If we want the countryside to stay as it is, something we can all enjoy, we have to support the farmers and their animals, who keep it that way. Beautiful clothes and excellent locally produced healthy well flavoured food have much more appeal than mass produced goods. 涉及知识点:大作文2.Multi-cultural societies, which are a mixture of different ethnic people, bring more benefits than drawbacks to a country. Do you agree or disagree? (2016-04-02)正确答案:Britain is a country that has absorbed immigrants for thousands of years. Waves of so-called Celtic people arrived over 2000 years ago, followed by the Roman armies that included soldiers from all over the known world; then Angles,Saxons, Danes, Vikings, all of whom left their mark; Norman French, then Huguenot refugees from France; and in more recent times people fleeing persecution in Europe, mainly Jews, then people displaced because of war; ex Italian and German prisoners of war who wanted to stay, then people from the Caribbean, invited to work in the 1950s; and in the last four decades, Africans from Kenya and elsewhere, Muslims and Hindus. A real mix of people are all attracted to the idea of living in a free, stable, prosperous country. All of this has brought tremendous benefits. The earliest settlers have left an amazing legacy and craftwork of the highest order, added to the language. They have also left place names to remind us of their presence. Skills, such as that of the Huguenot weavers, business skills, and finance have all enriched the country. Initial hostility to people from Africa has almost disappeared but still rears its ugly head in subtle and not so subtle ways. Most of the people from the Caribbean had a genuine respect for Britain, the Commonwealth, and especially the Queen. Many people in Britain have made a tremendous effort to embrace the idea of a multicultural society. Different festivals, such as Diwali, are celebrated in schools. Cities encourage such events as Chinese New Year celebrations. Important information is available in many different languages and every effort is made to encourage newcomers. However, it seems that whilst for the most part people of different faiths and traditions meet at school and work quite freely, many such as Hindu, and especially Muslim, really do not want to be fully integrated. They want to keep their traditional dress and to look and to be distinct. A recent survey showed that many Muslims would like Shar’iah Law, a different system of laws, feel that women are second class citizens, would not report a suspected terrorist and so on. This is a huge drawback, because it threatens the liberal, democratic way of life that we have, and poses a threat to the very reason for which they have come—freedom. 涉及知识点:大作文3.When new towns arc planned, it is important to build more public parks and sports facilities than shopping centres for individuals to spend their free time. To what extent do you agree or disagree? (2016-04-16)正确答案:Shopping centres, especially huge out of town shopping centres, have come to be a place where people spend their free time. They come to browse around the shops, eat at one of the many fast food outlets and go home happily laden with new clothes and all sorts of other things, having enjoyed a day’s ‘retail therapy’. Everyone has to shop, even though Internet shopping is increasingly important. Everyone needs clothes, shoes, food, books, gadgets, jewellery and so on, but today people buy and buy and buy—to make themselves feel good, and huge shopping centres encourage their rather unhealthy pastime. If public parks and sports facilities are planned when housing is built, they will be there for those who wish to use them. To build houses and not leave space for such facilities means that these things cannot then be built. Public parks can help encourage children’s activities, picnics for all the family, fun runs, and above all they provide a green space where trees can reduce the level of pollution. Sports facilities, such as swimming pools, golfcourses, gyms, hockey and football pitches, all help to encourage people to keep fit and use their leisure time in a way that encourages health, so that they are really important in cities . It is difficult today to say whether emphasis should be on shopping or recreation facilities because the size of a shopping centre depends on the number of people able and willing to use it, and this to a certain extent is true of sports facilities and parks. It might be that in a city, two small neighbourhood parks are better than one huge one. Small parks are easily used by local children and families and can have play areas containing equipment, such as slides, swings and climbing frames. A bigger park can accommodate walkers, cyclists and horse riders. Ft really is important to match the available facilities, both for shopping and for leisure, to demand present and future, whilst also considering the number of such facilities and their size. 涉及知识点:大作文4.The increase in the production of consumer goods results in damage to the natural environment. What are the causes of this and what can be done to solve this problem? (2016-04-21)正确答案:It is widely recognised that the number of goods, such as clothing, computers and food, that are produced for consumers has resulted in quite extensive damage to our environment and any increase in their production would, logically, exacerbate this damage. Looking at the causes of this potentially irreparable damage, I believe, they can be put into 2 major groups: resourcing and production. Most people, these days, are demanding more and more technology, more and more choice without understanding the impact this has on our world. Mobile phones would be the classic example of this. People don’t realise the chain of production in something like an iPhone. The fact is that there will be several mines around the world to produce the metals needed for the circuitry, the amount of diesel fuel required for either the trains or the trucks when transporting either the raw material, or for that matter, the finished product and the amount of pollution factories cause during both the refining and production processes. As for potential solutions to this problem, we need again to look at both the beginning and the end of the production cycle. If we can develop technology that improves the efficiency of the use of raw materials, not only would this potentially reduce the amount we need, but also extend the life of what we’ve got. Looking at the production side of this issue, we need to be able, in some way, to reduce the pollutants that factories are placing in the air. Maybe this could also be done with a new form of technology, or maybe it could just be done by changing some processes involved. Overall, I think the best way to solve this problem is to try and help society understand that they don’t need to be so greedy. If there was not the continuing expansion of desire and unrelenting want for something new, we wouldn’t have this problem in the first place. 涉及知识点:大作文。

In recent years, the prevalence of computer games has exerted a significant effect on children’s life. As to whether they affect children negatively, there is an endless debate.Despite the fact that playing computer games is an effective way to relieve pressure, the problems associated with study and health cannot be neglected.Clearly, playing computer games is regarded as a main factor leading to poor academic performance. With the entertaining nature, computer games will easily distract children from their studious pursuits. With the passage of time, children will probably fall behind their peers in academic development. In addition, when children spend too much time playing computer games, they are less likely to participate in physical activities, which is one reason why many children suffer from obesity. As a result, these overweight children’s confidence may be undermined and their health may be negatively influence as well.Despite these disadvantages, the advantages can still not be ignored. First of all, the latest research shows that game-playing helps children to home their communication and interpersonal skills. In many cases, players work together in teams to achieve goals, competing against other players. Therefore, their social skills and teamwork spirit are put to the test. Also, computer games can have positive and therapeutic effects on players. Games provide an opportunity for children to decompress and tune out of strains and stresses of everyday life. Giving their time to rest is critical for emotional and mental well-being.In conclusion, it is not advisable for children to play computer games, for the reasons that it not only has a negative impact on their study, but also makes them lose confidence, although computer games provide a form of relaxation.题目类别政府提问方式A/D考试题目Some people think governments should focus on reducing environmental pollution and housing problems to help people prevent illness and disease. 你认为这样的趋势给环境带来的好处大于坏处吗?参考范文:When it comes to the phenomenon that private cars become popular and common among the public, some people may argue that the environment may suffer from such a fact, but I approve of the idea that there exist more merits for individuals if they own a private car.Admittedly, the use of private cars may lead to the deterioration of the environment. Compared to public transport, private cars could merely serve a very limited number of passengers, but they still emit no less gas than public vehicles do. Moreover, excessive carbon dioxide released by cars may aggravate global warming to some degree, leading to some severe consequences, such as rising sea levels. Nevertheless, citizens may have a better life with private cars.Initially, the public may enjoy convenient traffic with their own cars. When travelers intend to go to some remote areas for a trip, public transport may not cover such areas completely. Providing that curious visitors brought a car, they would still be free to drive to any place they look forward to. Thus, purchasinga private car should be at the top of tourists’ agenda since it enables tourists to take their personal trips.Furthermore, driving may serve to help people release their pressure to some extent. In the current era, people are occupied with heavy work, which may bring them a lot of pressure. Correspondingly, some more approaches may be developed to assist depressive people to alleviate their mental burdens. Driving is also a recommendable way since drivers could refresh themselves temporarily, especially when they drive at midnight freely with little intervention. In sum, the pros acquired from driving may exceed the cons for the environment, considering that driving allows tourists to go to any site they like and provides citizens with a method of unloading pressure.范文参考:Private car ownership has been becoming increasingly universe in many societies and thus triggered a series of controversies and one of which regards the upsides and downsides for individuals and eco-surroundings respectively.Personally, every coin has two sides, likewise, there are both evidence in its benefits and drawbacks and it is difficult to say which is more obvious.Commonly, many car owners share the belief that by possessing a transportation tool, they are given more opportunity to travel as they please and as convenient as possible. For example, encountering bad weathers, rather than waiting for public bus or walking a long way to take the underground in the heavy rain,we can drive car instantly we walk out the door. Also, private cars make many leisure activities possible. In some cases, having a mountain climbing, holding abarbecue party or camping in countryside areas on weekend would rely,in great likelihood,on self-driving as public transportation may not be sufficiently provided in those areas. On the other hand, reaching the conclusion that there are advantages in private car use does not mean that we ignore its disadvantages recklessly.Instead,it should be equivalently pointed out.Global warming and other air problems such as acid rain and haze are probably the main issues to be concerned. Due to car emissions, many big cities are suffering the environment problems mentioned above. However, instead of letting these problems be and eventually deteriorate, actions must be taken to tackle or at least mitigate the threat to our life.I therefore believe that along with the bright sides of private car use,the dark ones still exist and it is everyone's responsibility to solve it.参考范文:With the development of economy and technology, private cars are affordable to more families. So the debate of the cars contribution to individuals and the disadvantages of cars to environment is also presented.I believe the benefits the cars brought to us is more than the harm they make to the environment. Although we can’t deny that cars actually indeed made some air pollutions (due to the greenhouse emission) and maybe also some noise pollution. We can’t ignore the value of the cars in our daily life. The reasons are listed below.First of all, with private cars, people enjoy more flexible going –out schedule, we don’t need to passively rely on the public transportation. For example, we can determine the time to set out to work every morning without concerning the public bustime.Additionally, cars also bring us more enjoyment and flexibility to our life. We can plan a longer distanced car trip with private cars since many worth visiting places have poor public transportation access.Last but not least, cars assists us to take more care of our families. When you have children or elderly people, concerning the safety and comfort issue, it is better to drive them by private cars since the public buses are always crowed and chaotic. The further example is when our family members have emergencies to hospital, we don’t need to wait the taxi or the ambulance, and we can drive them to hospital immediately for in time treatment. All in all, having private cars is very important to individuals in terms of the conveniences, enjoyments and flexibility the cars brought to us. Compare to those benefits, I think the environment issue the cars made can be neglected.【2016年9月15日雅思真题作文范文】。

The bar chart shows the number of social networking sites visited by internet users in Canada in 2014 and in 2015. We can see from the data that, in general, there was a growing tendency to use more than one site. Although just over one fifth of internet users did not use any social networking sites in either of the years, the proportion in this category decreased from 22 percent in 2014 to 21 percent in 2015. In both years the highest proportion of users in any group fell into the ‘One site’ category. However, this group declined sharply from 36 percent in 2014 to 28 percent in 2015. In contrast, the numbers who reported using two sites, three sites, four sites and five sites all grew over the period analysed. In both years the proportion of internet users fell as the number of social networking sites increased, with only 2 percent using five sites in 2014 compared to 4 percent in 2015.

剑雅15test2大作文范文

剑雅15test2大作文范文英文回答:With more and more people choosing to live in densely populated cities, the strain on infrastructure, resources, and the environment has become increasingly evident. Urbanization has brought about a host of challenges, ranging from traffic congestion and air pollution to a lack of affordable housing and green spaces. While these issues are undoubtedly complex, there are a number of innovative and sustainable solutions that can be implemented to mitigate their impact and improve urban living. One of the most pressing challenges facing cities is the issue of traffic congestion. With more people living and working in urban areas, the number of vehicles on the road has increased exponentially, leading to longer commute times, increased emissions, and a decline in air quality. To address this problem, cities can implement a variety of measures, such as investing in public transportation, promoting carpooling and ride-sharing, and creating dedicated bike lanes and pedestrian walkways. By providing more efficient and sustainable transportation options, cities can reduce the number of vehicles on the road, ease traffic congestion, and improve air quality.Another major challenge facing cities is the issue ofair pollution. Urban areas are often home to a high concentration of vehicles, industries, and other sources of air pollution, which can have a detrimental impact on the health of residents. To mitigate this problem, cities can implement a number of measures, such as promoting the useof electric vehicles, investing in renewable energy sources, and implementing green building codes. By reducing the amount of air pollution, cities can improve the health of their residents and create a more sustainable environment. The lack of affordable housing is another major challenge facing cities. With rising housing costs, many people are struggling to find a place to live that they can afford. To address this problem, cities can implement a variety of measures, such as increasing the supply ofaffordable housing, providing rent subsidies, and offering homeownership assistance programs. By making housing more affordable, cities can ensure that everyone has a place to live, regardless of their income. The lack of green spaces is another major challenge facing cities. Urban areas are often lacking in green spaces, such as parks, gardens, and open spaces, which can have a negative impact on the physical and mental health of residents. To address this problem, cities can implement a variety of measures, such as creating new parks and green spaces, planting trees, and converting unused land into green spaces. By increasing the amount of green spaces, cities can improve the health of their residents and create a more sustainable environment. In conclusion, while urbanization has brought about a host of challenges, there are a number of innovative and sustainable solutions that can be implemented to mitigate their impact and improve urban living. By investing in public transportation, promoting carpooling and ride-sharing, creating dedicated bike lanes and pedestrianwalkways, promoting the use of electric vehicles, investing in renewable energy sources, implementing green building codes, increasing the supply of affordable housing, providing rent subsidies, offering homeownership assistance programs, creating new parks and green spaces, planting trees, and converting unused land into green spaces, cities can address the challenges of urbanization and create more sustainable and livable urban environments.中文回答:随着越来越多的人选择居住在人口稠密的城市,基础设施、资源和环境所承受的压力变得越来越明显。

One way to prevent the spread of the toad would be to build a national fence.A fence that blocks the advance of the toads will prevent them from moving into those parts of Australia that they have not yet colonized. This approach has been used before: a national fence was erected in the early part of the twentieth century to prevent the spread of rabbits, another animal species that was introduced in Australia from abroad and had a harmful impact on its native ecosystems.中文:第一个阻止蔗蜍蔓延的方法是建立一个全国范围的围栏。

2/ 8/ 2014: In many parts of the world, children and teenagers are committing more crimes. Why is this happening? How should they be punished?Today, news about youth crime is rife. Theft, burglary or even murder are now committed by people of younger and younger ages. The aim of this essay is to investigate the factors responsible for the increase in juvenile delinquency and put forward a number of ways to appropriately punish young offenders. It is observed that extreme behaviors are exhibited by most children from dysfunctional families. Without the supervision from parents or caregivers, children’s extreme behaviors such as aggression, hostility or defiance are given free rein to develop in their later lives. In addition, there is a direct correlation between the lack of engagement in educational activities and serious criminal offending in children. Out of boredom, children befriend with antisocial peers and will gradually copy their behaviors. Media also plays an enormous role in shaping children’s crim inality. For example, games such as grand theft auto can desensitise younger players to extreme acts of violence and cruelty, encourage them to commit crimes while giving them the impression that it is morally acceptable to do so.Imprisonment is often cited as a way to punish juvenile offenders. However, it is my view that this approach can produce extremely destructive effects. The youth can potentially be victims of physical or sexual abuse from older prisoners, as well as can adopt their negative behaviors. I feel that the better cure for young criminals is rehabilitation. Throughout education and training, the youth can realise their wrongful actions and be given opportunities to turn over a new leaf and transform themselves into useful members of society later in life. There are reasons to explain why today antisocial behavior among the youth nowadays has reached a historically unprecedented high and rehabilitation is the answer for this.9/ 8/ 2014: Some people think that governments should ban dangerous sports, while others think people should have freedom to do any sports or activity. Discuss and give your opinion.Dangerous sports have been very much in vogue in the last decades. With its high risk factor, some think that they should be outlawed. However, others hold the belief that the decision to take part in any sport activities should be made free by individuals. This essay will delve into these both points of view.On the one hand, there are justifications to the argument that people should be given freedom to take up any sport activities however high risks they involve. Since the beginning of time, men or women always have the need to explore, challenge themselves or test their levels of endurance. Therefore, banning these activities will rob people of these opportunities. Besides, participation in any kind of sports, be it swimming or soccer, would incur the risks of potential injuries. In fact, news of world famous footballers having to retire prematurely due to injuries are not few and far between. For this reason, there is no compelling reason to discriminate dangerous sports against other sports in terms of danger level. However, others have grounds to believe that the governments should ban dangerous sports. What is worth mentioning is as these sports gain popularity, those who take part in them gain undue confidence and neglect to equip themselves with proper safety equipment. When accidents happen, they are often very expensive. For example, statistics show that each rescue attempt on Everest can cost adventurers hundreds of thousands of dollars. This could cripple their financial situation in a long time.To conclude, I feel that high risk adventure sports should not be banned. However, those who pursue these activities should be better prepared bear the costs of rescue if accident occurs.16/ 8/ 2014: In some countries, governments are encouraging industries and businesses to move out of the cities and into regional areas. Do you think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages? In the past, factories were often built in close proximity to city areas as the lack of transportation forbade people to do otherwise. However, this is not exactly the case today, when industries and businesses are moving from municipal and into countryside areas in flocks. This essay will elaborate on both positive and negative effects of this trend. On the positive side, firstly, this movement makes environmental sense. Due to industrial activities, residents of many cities around the world are still breathing in air and consume water dirty enough to cause numerous health diseases. Therefore, moving businesses out of the cities will rid human and other species of pollution. A further advantage of this trend is reducing the gap between the rich and the poor in a country, as countryside dwellers can opt to work in factories with higher pay, rather than agricultural work. This will eventually bring about peace and harmony to society. On the negative side, doing business in the countryside also represents some notable drawbacks. To begin with, skilled workers are a rarity in rural areas. Most of people living in small towns and villages do not receive sufficient education to undertake intellectual jobs. What is also disadvantageous is based in regional areas, companies can distance themselves further from their customers, their suppliers and other partners in their business transactions, which can weaken their profitability. In conclusion, moving business from cities to rural areas can be a smart decision. However, there are disadvantages that should be weighed carefully against the advantages.10/ 1/ 2015: Leaders and directors in an organisation are normally elder people. Some people think younger leader would be better. Do you agree or disagree?Leadership is long thought to be within the province of elder people. With this belief, many people harbour doubts about the significance of the youth in high ranks. However, it is my personal conviction that the youth display qualities that are conducive to the health of any organization. The first justification for why leaders and directors should be young people is that they are more technologically-inclined. In the fast changing world today, being able to keep up with technological trend is an overwhelming advantage that young people have over their elder counterparts. It helps them to interact with customers more quickly and clearly and creates stronger public image for the company. The young can also use technology to increase the efficiency of operation, to manage the cash flow and resources more properly. In an era when security threats are always imminent, technology also enables young leaders to protect important data and ideas away from its competitors. What’s more, the youth possess great creativity, which can be conside red one of the most important leadership qualities. It is a simple correlation that higher creativity results in greater innovation within the organization and hence more spectacular success in the long run. In a similar fashion, when failures occur, the young with their creative capacities can come up with better solutions and in a shorter period of time. The long-standing belief that leading positions should be exclusively held by elder people has eclipsed many remarkable contributions of the youth in society. Therefore, the importance of having younger participants in top positions should not be refuted or downplayed.17/ 1/ 2015: Some people think that there should be some strict controls on noise. Others think that they could just make as much noise as they want. Discuss both views and give your opinion.People of the twenty-first century are being plagued by noise pollution, a problem which is growing considerably in extent, frequency and severity. Due to numerous wide-ranging adverse effects brought about by noise, some are of the opinion that the government should enforce noise ordinances. However, it is also argued that individuals have the freedom to make as much as noise as they want. Both sides of the argument will be analysed below.Attempts should be made to regulate noise because noise is associated with many adverse health consequences. As studies show, a growing number of modern day people are experiencing hearing impairment as a result of prolonged exposure to loud noise. No matter where it comes from - in their homes,at their workplaces or in other public places, noise is secretly killing the hearing ability of people of all ages, affecting their communication and also behaviors. In addition, noise can cause long-term effects on the psychlogical well-being through sleep disturbances. In fact, it is the culprit of frequent mood swings, decrements in work performance , memory loss and the decline in other mental functions. For these reasons, environmental noise should be kept under close control. However, the argument that there should not be control on noise also has some convincing points. It can be said that noise restriction violates the basic human rights that every individuals are entitled to. As long as people have freedom to eat whatever they desire, speak whatever is on their minds, they should also be given permission to make noise. Therefore, legislation to limit noise production can prove unfeasible. In summary, the modern day environment is being gradually degraded by noise. Nevertheless, the most effective method to control it is by education, not by force.29/01/2015: It is now possible for scientists and tourists to travel to remote natural environment, such as South Pole.Do the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages?Barely a hundred years ago, virtually inconceivable to many was the idea of travelling to extreme places on Earth, such as South Pole. Today, there is no such thing as an inaccessible destination. However, the ease with whichanyone can travel to many remote areas of the world has presented itself both as a blessing and a curse. It is the goal of this essay to delve into both merits and demerits of this development. On the positive side, this development has a paramount role to play in the furtherance and dissemination of knowledge about the world. South Pole, for instance, is the place where scientists can avail themselves to the opportunity of exploring and learning more about astronomy and the formation of the Earth. Besides, the influx of travelers into remote areas has given a welcome boost to the tourist industry. Without question, many local inhabitants are lifted out of poverty thanks to the trade with outsiders. However, it is imperative that the drawbacks brought along with this development not be shrugged off. It is universally acknowledged that in the encroachment of tourists, these places are now littered with huge amount of bottles, used food packages and cans. There is no doubt that the tourists themselves are the also the chief contributors of the ecological disruption in these areas. Furthermore, local people often find themselves in disharmony with foreign travelers, due to their differences in lifestyles, behaviors and ways of thinking. Gradually, this can mutate into conflicts and possibly war.To conclude, despite its disadvantages, this development should by no means be stopped.31/01/2015: Some people say that too much attention and too many resources are given in the protection of wild animals and birds. Do you agree or disagree with this opinion? For centuries, deforestation, farming, urbanisation and other human activities have wreaked havoc with wild animal species and sent them to the verge of extinction. Regarding wildlife protection, awareness has been raised and attempts have been made. However, some hold the idea that the protection of endangered species has been given inordinate amount of attention and resources. Personally, I do not see eye to eye with this point of view.In the first place, wildlife protection has never taken center stage on the media. Compared with celebrities, for example, the amount of coverage of wild animals is infinitesimal. Clearly, the reason is profits. In other words, programs featuring wild animals do not generate interest of the public and accordingly returns for the producers. The absence of educational programs concerning the lives of wild animals has blinded people to the reality that wild animals are dying and the ecological system is being disrupted severely. In addition, governments around the world do not prioritise wildlife conservation on their agenda’s. As a matter of fact, laws to save wild animals have been introduced, but they are loosely enforced. Because of this, every man can freely exploit land, chop down forests, and divert the water sources, all of which combine to destroy the natural habitats of threatened animals. In every corner of the world, with or without intention, human are still causing changes in climatic and geographical conditions, which accelerates animal extinction. In light of this fact, I feel that not enough attention and resources are being given in the conservation of wild flora and fauna and stronger actions need to be taken to save them.07/02/2015: Many museums and historical sites are mainly visited by tourists but not local people. Why is this the case and what can be done to attract more local people to visit these places? In terms of local people’s attendance, museums and historical places have always paled in comparison with other recreational centers. This essay will present some reasons why this has occurred and put forward some solutions to resurrect the interest of local people in visiting these places. The small and dwindling number of local visitors to museums can firstly be attributable to the low frequency with which activities are held. In other words, the renewals of existing exhibits or the organization of new programs and events are few and far between. For this reason, little interest is aroused in those who had once been to the museum or places of historical significance. Furthermore, museums and historical sites do not come cheap. In fact, to get admission to these places, visitors are often required to pay a substantial amount of money, which can be worth a day’s salary. In order to drum up more interest of local people in coming to museums, a number of ways can be employed. What can be done first of all is to organise activities which incorporate art performances with appropriate content. This not only encourages the attendance of local people but also represents a greatopportunity to educate them about the history of their places of origin. In addition, the authorities can also lower the admission fee or offer discounts to local inhabitants. To conclude, many reasons can be given as to why local people lose their enthusiasm for museums and places of historical importance. However, the revival of these places is within our grasp should proper actions be taken.12/02/ 2015: Some people think that the best way to ensure road safety is to increase the minimum legal age for driving cars or riding motorbikes. To what extent do you agree or disagree? The legal driving age issue has always been a societal hot potato in many countries. Suggestion has been made that the only measure to reduce road fatality is to outlaw young people from driving. As far as I’m concerned, I partly share this point of view.Firstly, I agree that road safety can be guaranteed by raising the minimum legal driving age. In fact, young people with their hot heads and devil-may-care attitudes are the authors of most traffic accidents. In order to parade their driving audacity, they often throw caution in the winds and drive without helmet at lightning speed. Combined with their limited ability to maneuver their vehicles, accidents are all but inescapable. Furthermore, for other traffic participants, their fates are also sealed. It is no exaggeration to say that no matter how well people drive, their lives can be claimed in an instant by other younger and more reckless drivers.Nonetheless, increasing driving age is not the panacea for all traffic problems and roads can be made safer by other methods as well. For example, more overpasses or underpasses should be constructed with foolproof instructions of how to use them. By doing this, the government can save thousands of pedestrians from being killed in road crash. Next, at intersections or along sections of the roads, lightning, road conditions should be improved and more guide posts should be installed. Together with these, a blanket ban should be imposed on the use of mobile phone, drugs or alcohol while driving. With the collective effort of the government and their citizens, I believe that road safety can be within reach. To conclude, it is my belief that fewer people’s lives will be put in jeopardy while taking part in traffic should the governments take the bull by the horns, restrict young people from driving and enforce other regulations with strict adherence.28/02/2015: Some students prefer to take a year off between school and university, to work or to travel. Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages? Many parents spurn taking a gap year and consider it a start of the downward spiral of their children both socially and academically. Despite their opposition, the idea of gap year has never lost ground among new high school graduates. In my opinion, the advantages of a gap year leave its disadvantages in eclipse. After 12 years of burning the midnight oil trying to pass examinations and polish school records, a gap year is a chance for students to get in touch with themselves and also the world outside their school walls. In fact, for many students, schoolwork is prioritized over their hobbies or creating memories with their friends and family members. Furthermore, going straight to college without spending time to decide what major fits most or to reflect on their future goals and aspirations would be a one way ticket to school swapping, which can cost students and their parents dear.A gap year can be misspent by a few ways, such as partying or being couch potatoes. However, it should be noted that a majority of students opt to work or travel during their year off from school and win uncountable benefits for themselves. To be more specific, travelling can help improving their adaptability and resilience, expanding their circles of friends and sociability. Likewise, with past experience in any kind of part time jobs, students will have a shinier resume and accordingly, higher likelihood of getting employed. In light of these facts, taking a year off from school is not an ill-advised decision and parents whose children gravitate towards spending one year off before university should shake off any unfavorable attitudes toward it.14/03/2015: Nowadays, many families have both parents working. Some working parents believe other family members like grandparents can take care of their children, while others think childcare centers provide the best care. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. It is not an uncommon practice that in many families nowadays, both fathers and mothers are actively engaged in employment. Within these family structures, there has been a mounting concern about the children’s diminished access to parents. It is often argued that in the absence of their parents, relatives are the best caregivers; however, others claim that children are best put in daycare centers. In this essay, both these points of view will be discussed.Under the supervision of a family’s relativ es, particularly grandparents, children are in good hands. In fact, it can be said that grandmothers can fulfill children’s needs in a more effective way than their own mother, due to their past motherhood experience. In addition, they are also the glue that helps binding the relationship between children and their parents whose full attention is paid to their careers. Even though their parents are not always near, children would not suffer the feeling of isolation or neglect with the presence of their relatives. On the other hand, childcare centers offer a variety of advantages for children whose both parents participate in the workforce. First of all, children’s social skills such as sharing and taking turns can be promoted as a result of regular contact with peers. Second of all, daycare centers are also a field upon which children regardless of gender or ages can fairly compete with each other. Without doubt, competition in early years can facilitate children’s academic achievement in later lives becauseit often spurs them to pursue excellence and prove their self-worth.To conclude, parents who choose to pursue dual income can rely on either relatives or daycare centers for childcare responsibilities. However, it is suggested that both parents should strive to clear up the blurred line between their personal and professional lives, achieve a work-life balance and find more time for their own children.21/03/2015: Some people believe famous people's support towards international aid organizations draws the attentions to the public. Others think celebrities make the problems less important. Discuss both views and give your opinion.Celebrities’ involvement in humanitarian activities has almost become the rule in the modern world. While it is often said that the presence of famous people has been conducive for charities, others believe they contribute little in raising the awareness of the public. This essay will elaborate on both of these perspectives. The endorsement of celebrities benefits charities immensely. With the participation of celebrities, more attention is called to international aid programs, which accordingly brings more income for the charities to proceed appropriate actions with charitable causes. One prime example of this is Angelina Jolie, whose interest in humanitarian affairs inspires millions of individuals to provide financial support or to do volunteer work, in order to ease the suffering of African children. Statistically, thanks to the campaigns that carry celebrities’ images, bil lions of dollars are raised annually, which makes it wrong to entirely disregard their help in making the world a better place. However, ample justifications can be provided for the cynicism of celebrity activism. Lamentably, for many celebrities, their primary purposes in supporting charities are to promote their own images, gain more public respect, and further their own careers. Obviously, the blame for this should be assumed by the media, which brings the celebrities into the spotlight and effectively puts the causes on the sidelines when broadcasting relief programs. For instance, after watching the single “You’ve got a friend” from Comic Relief charity featuring the band Mcfly, many of their fans are impressed with how adorable the band members cry, rather than how appalling the condition that the impoverished are living in.To conclude, the jury is still out on the contribution of famous people in international aid organizations.28/03/2015: Some people think that the increasing use of computers and mobile phones in communication has negative effects on young people's reading and writing skills. To what extent do you agree or disagree?Despite several undeniable virtues of computers and mobile phones, much concern has been raised about their corrosive effects on human literacy skills. From my perspective, I agree that this worry is not at all groundless. The deterioration of people’s reading and w riting skills is first explained by the widespread use of word abbreviation and the lack of regard to grammar rules when people use messages to communicate with others. For instance, “idk” is so commonly used as a replacement for the phrase “I don't know” that some internet users might forget how to write it right. In addition, computers and mobile phones permit the use of emoticons and stickers toexpress emotions, which can lead to the slow reduction of people’s ability to communicate feelings in words.Critics might claim that that prevalence of computers and cellphones has greatly facilitated the development of literacy and the argument given is that users can avail themselves of a deluge of academic articles on the Internet. Although it is true that a majority of reading materials are easy to find and freely up for grabs for internet users, they do not seem to have much pulling power these days. Classic novels, as famous as Frankeinstein for example, are viewed and downloaded much less than tasteless and poorly-written modern-day novels such as Fifty Shades of Grey. This fact effectively refutes the statement that people who own computer and cellphone have superior reading and writing skills than those who do not.To conclude, I am inclined to restate that although the advent of computer and cellphones might be a tremendous boon to society in many aspects, it fails to do people favors as far as literacy goes.18/04/2015: Some people think that schools should reward students who show the best academic results, while others believe that it is more important to reward students who show improvements. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.During their knowledge acquisition process, students are affected by many factors. In terms of how to improve students’ performance in school, opinions are widely divergent. While many suggest that only students whose academic results are the best should be rewarded, others hold the opinion that students who make improvements are more deserving of praise and incentives. This essay will discuss both of these views. There are reasonable grounds to believe that rewards should be given to students who do best. In fact, the validity of rewards cannot be doubted given that it is an easy and effective way to give recognition and attention to students. This can consequently provide them with more motivation, which is a highly influential factor in determining success or failure in their studying process. However, in the same class, students are often of mixed intellectual levels and aptitudes. This explains why some students face an uphill struggle in achieving good results in many subjects while others can accomplish this withlittle effort. This fact is demonstrable in the subject of Math, for example. Clearly, male students with higher levels of intelligence and logic can master this subject with less hitch than the female counterparts, even though they do not try as hard. This means if rewards are offered to those who does best in Math class, it will always be boys who receive them. Girls, on the other hand, will feel resentful and lose interest in learning. For this reason, it is not an advisable idea to invariably give rewards to best students in class. To conclude, rewards can generate strong motivation in students and it is better to give them to those who show the greatest improvements in their studies, rather than the highest achievers in the class.25/4/2015:Young people who commit serious crimes should be punished in the same way as adults. Do you agree or disagree? To date, more and more criminal cases have been reported with the involvement of young people. This has certainly raised the question of whether changes should be implemented in terms of how to deal with those who are considered unpunishable by law. In my opinion, every offender, regardless of their age, should receive equal punishments. The first reason is age does not determine the criminality of an individual. Scientists have concluded that the tendency to antisocial behavior is rather influenced by genes or environments than by how old they are. That means if children are long exposed to violence or have a genetic predisposition to criminal behaviors, they are likely to engage in illegal acts or even more serious crimes. Besides, with the ready availability of information, young people are fully aware of the consequences of their actions. It can be said that a majority of them do it with deliberation. For this reason, there should not be any differentiation between young people and the older ones once crimes have been committed. Moreover, if young people were legitimately exempt from criminal responsibility, malicious adults would waste no chance to take advantage of this loophole. There have been more than just several cases in which adults hired younger people to perform criminal acts so that they can stay away from, or reduce their responsibilities. Without such policy, citizens would be better protected from harms and live in much greater safety.。
