A Tour of Beijing Museum of Natural History

Last Saturday, our school students from Grade 12 took a tour of Beijing Museum of Natural History.

In the museum, there was a wealth of collections of prehistoric dinosaurs, ancient human fossils, different species of plants, and varieties of birds, insects, and fishes. We were so amazed that within four hours we had learned so much about nature.

The visit to the museum was rather productive and informative. We not only extended our knowledge of human evolution, but also looked deeper into the evolution of other living species. A number of students said they eventually understood how other species adapted to living on Earth.

Dear Elena,

I’m sorry to hear about your trouble, but frankly, I think the advantages of multi-generational living outweigh the disadvantages.

From my standpoint, the advantages of it include more family time and more help with household matters. Parents don’t lose touch with adult children and the elders have more interaction with younger family members. All can benefit emotionally from these closer family connections. New parents may also find family help with child care, cooking and cleaning. However, living under the same roof definitely produces problems such as less privacy and family tensions.

Although it is hard to deal with the problems, people still can lead a harmonious life through love, tolerance and consideration when sharing a house.

Although keeping pets gives many people companionship and great happiness, the living conditions of pets are worrying.

First, in fact, pets are living in inappropriate environments, such as birds in small cages, fish in bowls or small tanks, animals that are chained up for long periods. Second, in some cases, pets are treated improperly. People feed them with too little, too much or wrong food, or fail to spend much time with them. Last but not least, sometimes people are cruel to pets and even abandon them, which has drawn the anger of animal activists.

All in all, it is time to raise concerns about the living conditions of pets and to provide them with a more fulfilling life.
