英语课堂教学中的性别差异
【摘要】:性别差异是人类最基本的自然差异之一,在英语教学过程中,我国传统的教育模式往往忽略了这一差异,因此教育目标的
实施过程和教育目标的实现都受到了一定的影响。本文根据性别差异导致的学习方式的不同,提出基础词汇记忆的学习方式和结合英语使用层面而进行教学的方法。

teaching students in accordance with their gender kinds is not a new term in the english teaching area, which has caused great attention by the educational experts and socialists. from the different attitude towards english subject, we can see that there is a traditional scientific image in many ss’mind. many ss choose to pursue science because of their parents’ position. so in order to break the traditional scientific image, some good measures are taken as follows: (1)ss should put what they learnt into practice by the means of science.
(2)experts are invited to discuss with ss and help them understand some knowledge more theoretically.
teachers should encourage all the ss to participate the
class activity. for example, in order to encourage female to discuss the question, some sections could be considered as follows:
(1)give ss a few minutes for them to think over the question in order to encourage more ss to answer it.
(2)give some appreciation to the students who answer the questions so that the ss’ enthusiasm will be increased. (3)tell ss the content of what will be previewed in next lesson before class in order to help the ss who want to answer questions get more time to prepare for the question asked. the teachers should treat ss equally and use many teaching strategies to improve ss’ learning result. for example, we can improve teaching methods according to ss’ memorizing ability. in this term, female always do much better than male, especially in english learning.
the difference in the behavior of english problem’s solution shows that most female like to discuss problems with others, preferring cooperative study, while, male, like to think over by themselves and be more dependent and competitive. in a class, if the number of female is low, it will be very difficult for them to make friends with male, rather than find some problems actively. under this atmosphere, cooperative
study between small groups is the best choice for them to express themselves and compete with others.
while during the cooperative study, several points should be paid attention to:
(1)the problem chosen to discuss should be meaningful. at the same time, the content chosen should be proper so that all level ss can make good use of the teaching recourses. that is the aim of cooperative study.
(2)the demand of cooperation between group should be precisely, step by step. before the discussion, the teacher must tell ss the cooperative task and then let them discuss with problems aim fully.
(3)according to the size of problems, teacher should restrain the time for ss to cooperate fluently.
(4)the cooperation should have a good ending with small groups unit to represent their special consensus, which is a good way for ss to find more new ideas and ways to solve problems and also help them to learn how to cooperate with others.
because there are some differences in english learning style, the learners should advocate the cooperative study,
