Secondly, shadow play is a variety of folk arts, so local shadow play reflects local characteristics. At the same time, the local characteristics make it more charming.

Shadow play consists of the silhouettes(人 物剪影) of people which is made by animals’ skins as well as card-boards and a piece of cloth used as a stage of the play. The process of manufacturing condenses wisdom of labourers.

Both Chinese artists and the Government are making great efforts to conserve and propagate the ancient art form. And now, China has applied to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organizations (UNESCO) for a certification as an intangible cultural heritage. So as the constructer of china’s future, we are obliged to preserve the precious heritage.
