2. Jamie asked the children what their meals were like.

杰米问孩子们的伙食怎样。

What is ... like? 有两种含义：

(1) 表示“情况怎样”，多指天气或气候。

如：What’s the weather like tomorrow?

明天天气怎么样？

(2) 表示“……是什么样子？”，通常用于对某人或某物内在的品质或外在的特征提问。如：

—What is your sister like? 你姐姐是怎样一个人？

—She is kind and beautiful. 她既善良又美丽。

persuade意为“说服”，常用于persuade sb. to do sth. 结构，有时后面的不定式可以省略。如：

(1)The girl persuaded us to buy her newspapers.

(2)You might be able to persuade him. 你可能会说服他。

e.g: We persuaded him out of lending his money to that man.
