Andy was a successful banker,who was a very smart
and commercially minded person. But he was thrown to the prison for killing his wife and her lover though he was innocent. In the prison Shawshank,Andy’s calm and special temperament caused Red’ attention. Later they became friends.oneday,when Andy was repairing the roof with other prisoners, Andy knew that the captain of guards Hadely got thirty five thousand from his died brother and wants to have a tax evasion. Andy told Hadely that he could help him to evade the tax, and only asked three bottles of beer for each of his coworkers.later,the warden Mr. Norton made full use of Andy’ commercial mind to wash black money. During this period,Andy tried his best to get the approval of library, and helped young prisoners to pass exam. After Andy knew who was the real killer, and realized that the warden would give him no choice to have a remanding ,so he escaped from the prison in a lighting Retur night with thunder.

Brooks is a librarian of Shawshank State Prison,he has been in this prison 50 years and totally institutionalized . Plot
In 1947, a banker named Andrew “Andy” Dufresne (Tim Robbins) is convicted of murdering his wife and her lover, based on strong circumstantial evidence. He is sentenced to two consecutive life sentences at Shawshank State Penitentiary in Maine, run by Warden Samuel Norton (Bob Gunton). He is quickly befriended by Ellis Boyd “Red” Redding (Morgan Freeman), a fellow inmate serving a life sentence who has recently failed to gain parole. Andy finds Red has connections on the outside who can acquire contraband for the inmates, and first asks Red for a rock hammer in order to maintain his rock collection hobby, which he uses to fashion a home-made chess set. He later asks Red for a full-size poster of Rita Hayworth for his wall, replacing them over the years with ones of Marilyn Monroe and Raquel Welch......

Red,Anddy‟s best friend in Shawshank,he is the one who has connection with the outside ,in a sense he is a kind of person who has power and prestige in the prisnon,but out of the prison he is nothing .Red is a typical example of the institutionalization ,he doesn‟t has hope and even afraid of it .But under the influence of Andy ,he changed ,he accomplished his redemption .Finally with Andy‟s help he enjoy a free and hopeful live with Andy at the beautiful coast of Pacific ocean. Just like Tim Robbins Morgan Porterfield Freeman, Jr. (born June 1, 1937) is aslo an outstanding American actor, film director, and narrator. December 2007 Two inmates escaped from one of the prisons in New Jersery in United State with the same way of Andy does in The Shawshank Redemption after watching the film .BUT the difference it only took two months for them to dig a hole in the prison and eacaped. According to the report these two inmates finnaly caught back to the prison only after one month .
