23. Common Health Problems
Alyssa: You don’t look too well. Maybe you should take the day off from work.
Connor: I couldn’t do that. I have an important meeting to go to today.
A: Do you feel OK?
C: Not really. After a 12-hour flight, I’ve got a jetlag. In a top that I think I’ve got the flu.
A: Why don’t you call your secretary and tell her to rechange the meeting? You should really get some rest, or you’ll end up feeling even worse than you do now.
C: Could you feel my forehead and check to see if I have a fever?
A: You are really hot. Let me give you some tablet and allay to run the fever down.
C: OK. I’ll stay at home this morning and rest, but if I feel better in the afternoon, I’m going to attend the meeting.
A: Connor! What’s that on your arm?
C: I don’t know. It looks a bit red, but I’m sure it’s nothing.
A: It looks like you have red rash of you! Did you allergy to anyone?
C: Just cats. But I don’t think I meet any cats in the last capel of this week.
A: Oh, I compactly forgot about your cat allergy. I took care of a cat from a friend of mine a few days ago. Oh, no. We’d better go to the doctor and get some medicine. Let’s go.
C: Shouldn’t we make an appointment first?
A: We should, but let’s just go and see if there is opening now before it gets worse.
C: Whatever you said, I just want to get my meeting.
C: I feel absolutely horrible. My temperature is 41 degrees Celsius, and I’ve got headache and a runny nose.
A: Do you have any other symptoms?
C: I’ve also got a terrible stomach-ache. Is my face still swollen?
A: Just a little. Is your toothache gone now?
C: Yes, for the most part. It doesn’t feel as bad as my other ailment s, anyway.
A: How about your tongue? Does it still hurt?
C: No, the burn ointment seemed to take affect right away. I think it’s already heal ed.
A: How did you get that burn again?
C: I scald ed it on the hot coffee a few days ago.
A: You haven’t had much luck lately, have you?
C: No, but I’m sure I’ll get better soon.
A: When’s the last time you took your tablets?
C: I took the red ones just before lunch and the white ones just after lunch.
A: I think it’s time you took another dose of each. What would you like to drink with them? C: Just some water, please. Do you have any ointment for my nose? It feels so itchy after blowing my nose so much.
A: Sure, I’ll just go and get it now. What would you like to eat? Some soup?
C: That sounds good.
A: Soup always makes me feel better when I’m sick. I hope it makes you feel better, too.
