2. Calm

1)adj. 平静的,镇静的;无风浪的;常用在keep,stay,remain等系动词的后面做表语。

①One must be calm in time of danger. 一个人在危险时必须镇静

②The high wind passed and the sea was calm again.劲风过后,大海恢复了平静。

2)v.冷静;使。。。。。。平静

① His gentle voice calmed me.他温柔的声音使我平静下来。

②The crying child soon calmed down.那哭闹的孩子很快安静下来.

③ He took a deep breath to calm himself down.

Calm/quiet/still/silent

Calm指无风浪或人遇事镇定

She was very calm when I told her the news.

Quiet 指不吵闹或心情不烦的

“Be quiet.”said the teacher.

Still指人或物体不运动 The kids found it hard to stay still.

Silent强调不讲话或没有声音 He choose to keep silent about the matter.

2.generous adj.慷慨的,大方的,宽宏大量的 mean .吝啬的
