[设计意图]“读前”设计了三个问题需要学生回答,用来检查学生的预习情况。
问题包括文章的main idea和style,让学生了解文章体裁。
Step III: Fast reading
Activity 1 Scanning
Read through the passage and find out information about this play(including time,place,characters and event)
[设计意图] 通过这一活动,使学生了解主人公及店主的性格特点,为之后的讨论打基础。
Activity 2: Skimming
Skim the passage and answer three questions.
[设计意图] 在学生已经粗略知道文章的答题信息之后,让学生带着问题再读课文,然后回答,训练学生在阅读活动中如何获取信息,理解全文,如何思考、解决问题的能力。
Step ⅣCareful- reading(Role-play)
Read for the third time and fill in the blanks.
[设计意图] 针对文章的重点段落,专门设计一个表格,让学生填写重要信息,掌握重点内容。
Step ⅤPost - reading
Retell the story with these words and phrases.
[设计意图]通过复述故事,掌握故事梗概,同时运用巩固词汇。
Discussion:
Talk about the following questions:
1)Some people say that money is everything. But some people still think that money can't bring them happiness. Is money so important? Do you think money is the only thing that can bring you happiness?
2)What can we learn from the story of The Million Pound Bank Note?
[设计说明] 检测学生对课文内容的理解情况。
这两个问题要求学生根据自己的理解发表个人看法,拓展思维,学生给出的答案并不一定完全无误,
教师可以引导学生,再呈现参考答案。
Step VI summary
Make a summary of what role money can play in our daily life. Show the poem and appreciate it with music. End the class in a relaxing atmosphere.
Money is not everything.

课后反思:
本单元是学生在高中英语必修阶段接触的第一个剧本,由于体裁的特殊性,不一定要拘泥于日常的阅读教学步骤,不一定非要让学生进行快速阅读,然后过渡到仔细阅读。
而是利用播放电影片断,在多媒体教学环境下实施的大容量、快节奏的课堂教学。
本节课的内容含量并不小,要有效地控制好整个教学节奏,教师也设计了灵活的教学步骤,譬如最后的讨论也可以作为课后作业。
在语言实践活动中,如何调动学生积极性和提高学生英语表达能力,是教师在往后的教学中要努力的一个主要方面。
