Topic 1 Discovering Yourself1、How important is it ambitious in lifeBelieve it or not, ambition plays a very important part in our personal life . No matter who you are, no matter where you come from and no matter how is your English. So we should have our ambitions,we are never satiafied with what we have,we always need something more and something different.As a matter of fact, we shouldn't be content with what we have. My reasons are simple. First, it goes against human nature to make do with what one has. What is more, the world would still be primitive if our ancestors had been satisfied with what they had. And last but not least, ambition is a good thing so long as it is to be achieved in a proper way.In a word, we should not be satisfied with what we have. But to fulfil desires and achieve ambitions, we must use reason and resort to honest and decent means.Topic 2 Childhood Memories1、Do you have a happy childhood? Why or Why not?Yes,I have a happy childhood .In my memories,when i was still a child, i never worry about my study and how many scores i would get,……no suffering ,no stress ,nothing you should worry about。

because my parents never took this as a big matter, so i am rather easy finishing my elementary education, and i have many friends to play with, and i have been living in a harmony family, so i think i was happy in my childhood. 2.What important events in childhood can affect people when they are older?In my opinion,I think parents plays a very important part in our childhood.Firstly parents are children's first teachers. Before the children attend to school, the parents have already taught them a lot of knowledges. In china, the pre-school education plays a more and more important role. Parents buy many books and learn more prefession knowledges to teach their children. Some children even could recites more than one hundred poems before they go to school. The parents pre-education helps the children to be easily success in shool. Further more, the parents not only teach the knowledges, but also teach the learnning habits. The good habits could affect the children for the whole life.Topic 3 Art for art’s sake1、Which do you prefer, live music or recorded music?As far as I am concerned , I prefer recorded music. There are some reasons for it. At first , it is very convenient that we can find lots of recorded musics on the Interenet. Then We also can download freely what we like to listen, which is better than live music,because live music sometimes is so expensive that we cant afford it . So I like recorded music better.2、How great is the power of music in your eyes?Music has the great power in our life .Firstly , Some types of music can relax us. After a stressful work day, classical music, certain types of jazz, or our favorite ballad singer can physically relax our bodies and distract our minds from the cares of the day - at least for a while.Secondly, There are other ways music affects us emotionally. One way can be most clearly demonstrated by movie music. Music signals us when something scary, threatening or ominous is about to happen.What is more , Music and sound also have the power to heal body, mind and spirit.In a word, we can feel calmer and more relaxed when listening to music.Topic 4 Changing Times1.Say something about the advantages and disadvantages of new technology. There is no doubt that modern technology has brought great changes in our life.The Internet, digital TV programs,cell phones, modern buildings,private cars are all common things in our daily life nowadays.When we feel hot in summer,we just need to press a button,and then the air-conditioner gives us cool.When we want something,we can turn on our computer and do shopping online.When we want to talk to our friends,what we need to do is only to pick up our cell phones and dial the number,and if we want to write to somebody,then an e-mail will help.Hower,modern techonlogy has some disadvantages too.For example,increasing cars let out too much waste gases that cause air pollution,global warming and climate change.Teenagers sink into the online games which have a bad influence on their studies.It seems that we are paying for what we have enjoyedTopic 5 A Place in Society1.What forms of prejudice are you aware of in our society today?In our society, I think the prejudice ['predʒudis]偏见；侵害existing in everywhere is the contempt轻视，蔑视；耻辱to the underclass下层阶级，下层社会. Most people will judge you by your behavior or your dressing. Once you are regarded as the underclass, you are likely to be treated badly. Even though you are rich, famous and capable ['keipəbl]能干的，能胜任的；有才华的, others may laugh at you because of the gender性别and the race, especially in the western country. The men look down to the women, and the whites discriminate [dis'krimineit]歧视；区别；辨别against the blacks, making many unfair things happened around us.2.How important is cultural awareness in an international business deal?every link of Business English involves the difference oftrade between Chinese and western culture. Different nationalitieshave different values. In the business culture, different countries differ from each other on customs and etiquette habits. This is a quality called insist.It is what that I would like to develop myself to make me a hero like them.Topic 7 The Secret Life of Science1.Do you agree that some people are luckier than others?In our society, some people seem luckier than others. They can easily gain more wealth, knowledge and fame. But I don’t think they are really lucky. Those so-called luckier persons maybe devote much more than others. Usually they study or work harder, think more in their field and sometimes a novel ideal will occur to them. They are visited not so much by the god as by themselves.So their luck is the result of their efforts .2.Do you think that stars are born, or genius is “99 percent perspiration, 1 percentinspiration”?Genius ['dʒi:njəs] is 99 percent perspiration [,pə:spə'reiʃən]汗水；流汗；努力,1 percent inspiration [,inspə'reiʃən]灵感. Of course, this sentence itself had not been changed, but every time the key word what behind that missed, "but that 1% inspiration is the most important, even more than the 99% perspiration ". As you can see, there is no the back of this sentence, the meaning of words is completely changed. Edison is, of course, a genius, who also believe that he hold a "conditional admits" attitude to his genius, namely the genius is the most important,他也是相信天才的他对天才持一种“有条件的承认”的态度，即天才是最重要的，but genius also need hard work. Edison admit effort is important,but he ultimately pay more attention to inspiration.。
