自考00015英语(二)练习题 02
英语(二)练习二(Unit 2)一、阅读选择1、Good Communication for Making FriendsAs a communication skills trainer, I've met a wide range of people. Some people have trouble associating with others and have difficulty making friends. So I would like to discuss two key points to making good friends. The first is to show respect and love for your friends through your words. Try to say things to others that would feel good to you if you heard them. For example, say things like, "Thanks for the great time" and "It was really nice to get to know you."If you are not good at speaking, then smiling and using body language to express your sincerity is also an effective way to communicate. Additionally, I recommend that when you meet someone new send them an e-mail or letter before the day is over to express how nice it was to meet them. The goal of good communication is to reach another person's heart and form a comfortable relationship. It is, therefore, based the premise that you get rid of your worries and become a bright and positive person. When there is static noise over the phone line, you can't hear the other person clearly, right? In the same way, when your mind is full of worries and you try to communicate with another person, you cannot give or receive messages accurately. For example, let's say you are still tied to a past wound of being betrayed by a friend and feeling hurts .Even if you meet someone new and he or she tells you, "Let's be good friends," you may not be able to accept it because you will hear a negative inner voice saying something like "I might be betrayed again" or "the person might have a hidden agenda."With this worry in your mind, you will not be able to make friends. If you can be refreshed and get rid of your worries, you should be able to sense others' thoughts and feelings without prejudice and build a relationship of trust. If you really can't let go of your painful past experience, then try to change your perspective on the experience. For example, try to think that it was a necessary lesson for you to understand others' pain. If you can think of the positive intention behind the event, then you will be able to view the experience favourably and feel better.<1> 、The main topic of the passage is________. ( )A、how to communicate with othersB、how to refresh yourselfC、how to forget the past unhappinessD、how to show respect and love for your friends<2> 、The effective way to communicate includes________.( )A、showing respect and love for friends with wordsB、smiling and using body languageC、sending an e-mail or letterD、All of the above<3> 、The effective way to communicate includes________.( )A、showing respect and love for friends with wordsB、smiling and using body languageC、sending an e-mail or letterD、All of the above<4> 、Which of the following statements is NOT true according to the passage? ()A、Body language is as effective as saying things that will make friends feel better.B、If you distrust others, then it's difficult for you to make new friends.C、The writer conducted a research on how people communicate with their friends.D、Minds full of worries will do great harm to interpersonal relationship<5> 、The example in paragraph 2 is intended to show that________. ( )A、the goal of good communication is to reach another person's heartB、the goal of good communication is to form a comfortable relationshipC、good communication is based on the premise that you get rid of your worries and become a bright and positive personD、it does take time for someone to forget all about the painful past<6> 、In the sentence "the person might have a hidden agenda" (para.2) ,the word "agenda" means________. We are sure of encountering hurdles, but almost always we are taken by surprise. It is necessary to accept that life in general is full of difficulties and adversities. This recognition is the first step. When faced with problems, we often feel, "I am the only one having such problems" Or, we tend to exaggerate our problems and regard them as most complex, most painful, and as an extreme case. But if we look around us, we find people in much worse conditions. As St. Augustine said, "I cried for boots, till I saw a man who had no legs."② When faced with difficulties, we either complain or seek to dodge them. We behave like as ostrich in the desert. It is said that when there is a storm in the desert, the ostrich buries his head in the sand-hoping that the storm will go away if he ignores it-and finally gets buried under a heap of sand and dies. Some of us choose to pretend that the problems do not exist. We fail to realize that confronting and solving the problem-no painful the process-makes us grow.③ Accept the woes of birth. It has many implied meanings. First, it means "accepting," i.e., being able to say that it is "my" problem and it is up to me to solve it. Many times we find ourselves putting the blame on others-parents, society or the circumstances of life. Nothing happens by chance, but all is the result of our past actions. There are times when what is needed is patience. We seek to come out of an unpleasant situation quickly. We must understand that if the cause had been operating for a long time, the effect also would last long-as even when the gas has been turned off, the burner remains hot for a long time. Similarly, we expect quick results; having put in the effort, we must be willing to wait. Patient acceptance of what is due to us makes us makes us take a step further in our development.④ Once we have learnt to deal with a difficulty, the next time we encounter it, it ceases to be a difficulty. But, more often than not the cause of the problem is internal, i.e., within us, and often, it calls for a change. Often the difficulty is solved when we are willing to change—our way of thinking, our feelings, our likes and dislikes—and ready to adapt or adjust ourselves to a problematic situation or a person in life. We must realize that realize that change is inevitable, and always be mentally prepared for it.⑤ Not all life's problems are such that they need to be dealt with all at once. Sometimes it is possible to take a step and wait for a long time. For instance, if the tap is leaking then we need to call a plumber as soon as we can. But having called him and having found that he can come only the following morning, we should wait patiently for the next 24 hours. In this period, people can get very anxious and go on talking about it to others. There are many such problems in life.16. Paragraph①___________17. Paragraph②___________18. Paragraph③___________19. Paragraph④___________20. Paragraph⑤___________A. There are implied meanings about the accepting the woes of birth.B. Diligence is also very important in solving problems.C. (阅读理解题)Many visitors finds the fast pace at which American people move very troubling. One’s first impression is likely to be that everyone is in a rush. City people always appear to be hurrying to get where they are going and are very impatient if they are delayed even for a brief moment. At first, this may seem unfriendly to you. Drivers will rush you; storekeepers will be in a hurry as they serve you; people will push past you as they walk along the street. You will miss smiles, brief conversations with people as you shop or dine away from home. Do not think that because Americans are in such a hurry they are unfriendly. Often, life is much slower outside the big cities, as is true in other countries as well. Americans who live in cities such as New York, Chicago, or Los Angeles, often think that everyone is equally in a hurry to get things done; they expect others to “push back”, just as city people do in Tokyo, Singapore or Paris, for example. But when they discover that you are a stranger, most Americans become quite kindly and will take great care to help you. Many of them first came to the city as strangers and they remember how frightening a new city can be .If you need help orwant to ask a question, choose a friendly looking person and say, “I am a stranger here. Can you help me?”Most people will stop, smile at you, and help you find you way or answer your questions. But you must let them know that you need help. Otherwise they are likely to pass you by, not noticing that you are new to the city and in need of help. Occasionally, you may find someone too busy or perhaps too rushed to give you aid. If this happens, do not be discouraged; just ask someone else. Most Americans enjoy helping a stranger.(1). (阅读理解题)Many people think that when they become rich and successful, happiness will naturally follow. Let me tell you that nothing is further from the truth. The world is full of very richpeople who are as miserable as if they were living in hell. We have read stories about movie stars who committed suicide or died from drugs. Quite clearly, money is not the only answer to all problems. Wealth obtained through dishonest means does not bring happiness. Lottery winnings do not bring happiness. Gambling winnings do not bring happiness. To my mind, the secret to happiness lies in your successful work, in your contribution towards others’ happiness and in your wealth you have earned through your own honest effort. If you obtain wealth through luck or dishonest means, you will know that it is ill-earned money. If you get your money by taking advantage of others or by hurting others, you will not be happy with it. You will think you are a base person. Long-term happiness is based on honesty, productive work, contribution, and self-esteem. Happiness is not an end; it is a process. It is a continuous process of honest, productive work which makes a real contribution to others and makes you feel you are a useful, worthy person. As Dr. Wayne wrote, “There is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way.” There is no use saying “Someday when I achieve these goals, when I get a car, build a house and own my own business, then I will be really happy.” Life just does not work that way. If you wait for certain things to happen and depend on external circumstances of life tomake you happy, you will always feel unfulfilled. There will always be something missing.(1). The system allows workers to s tart and finish work whenever they want, with only two requirements. These are, firstly, that all workers must be present for certain“k ey”times in the day and secondly, that all workers must work an a greed total number of hours per week. The system has proved an almost total success wherever it has been tried. A survey of 700 workers on flexible hours showed three main advantages: a better balance between working and private life, a voidance of the need to travel during rush hours, and the ability t o be able to finish a certain task before leaving. From the employers’point of view, the system tends to increase productivity, reduce labor turnover and give the worker a greater s ense of duty.11.According to the passage, the _________invented the “flexible working hours”.A. Passage 1 (选自大纲样题)When We Are Asleep①Everyone dreams, but some people never recall their dreams, or do so very rarely. Other people always wake up with vivid recollections(回忆)of their dreams, though they forget them very quickly. In an average night of eight hours' sleep,an average adult will dream for around one hundred minutes, probably having three to five dreams, each lasting from ten to thirty minutes.②Scientists can detect when someone is having a dream by using an instrument which measures the electrical waves in the brain. During dreaming, these waves move more quickly. Breathing and pulse rate also increase, and there are rapid eye movements under the eye lids, just as though the dreamer were really looking at some moving objects. These signs of dreaming have been detected in all mammals studied, including dogs, monkeys, cats, and elephants, and also some birds and reptiles(爬行动物). This period of sleep is called the "D" state. Babiesexperience the "D" state for around 50% of their sleep; the period reduces to around 25% by the age of 10.③Dreams take the form of stories, but they may be strange and with incidents not closely connected, which make little sense. Dreams are seldom without people in them and they are usually about people we know. One estimate says that two-thirds of the "cast" of our dream dramas are friends and relations. Vision seems an essential part of dreams, except for people blind from birth. Sound and touch are senses also often aroused, but smell and taste are not frequently involved. In "normal" dreams, the dreamer may be taking part, or be only an observer. But he or she cannot control what happens in the dream.④However, the dreamer does have control over one type of dream. This type of dream is called a "lucid" (清醒的) dream. Not everyone is a lucid dreamer. Some people are occasional lucid dreamers. Others can dream lucidly more or less all the time. In a lucid dream, the dreamer knows that he is dreaming.1. Some people dream but cannot remember their dreams.A. TrueB. FalseC. Not Given显示答案【答案】A【解析】根据第一段的第一句话Everyone dreams, but some people never recall their dreams,or do so very rarely.可知,该说法正确。

But first, they have to know how. They may find the following advice interesting and instructive.Encourage free drawing rather than coloring books. Coloring books stop the possibility of self-expression. A child may just enjoy colorful pictures and never learn how to express himself. As an art teacher says,“Children have a very powerful instinct to draw freely and roughly. Such practice makes them learn language easily.”In fact,a child expresses himself in rough drawing. This is the beginning of literacy and creativity. Also, parents should not teach their kids “how”to draw and they should not make their kids draw realistic pictures to entertain themselves. Experience tells us that such teaching from the parents will discourage children, making them think they can’t do it the “right”way.Competition and rewards should also be avoided i n the process of artistic creation. A child‟s natural instinct to create will disappear if he or she thinks about prize while drawing.Parents should be role models for their kids. They should not say things like, “I can’t draw a straight line.”Instead, they should learn to say,“I love to create”. This teaches children that the process of creation is more important than the product. If children see their parents drawing, cooking or building creatively, they wi11 do the same.Buy a notebook for your child to use every day. This can be a journal for making up stories, writing ideas and drawing pictures. Even the youngest child can use it to draw freely and roughly, expressing himself.Take your child to places that promote ideas and creativity. Art museums, science centers, libraries and children’s museums all are great places to see other people’s creativity. That will inspire children to make their own creations and inventions.Give children choices and free time. Some of the best ideas come from daydreaming and imagining. In short, parents should allow their kids to have the freedom to invent for themselves. That means not always teaching and commanding.题号: 21 本题分数:4 分To develop their artistic creativity, children should been encouraged to ___.A、draw freely and roughlyB、learn to draw realistic picturesC、know how to draw before they startD、learn to draw good pictures to get prizes 题号: 22 本题分数:4 分Parents are encouraged to be role models for their kids because___.A、parents love to createB、parents can draw straight linesC、children tend to follow their parents’examplesD、children like the product of their parents’creativity题号: 23 本题分数:4 分It can be inferred from the passage that in artistic creation ___.A、product is more important than processB、process is more important than productC、process and product are equally importantD、both process and product are unimportant题号: 24 本题分数:4 分To be inspired by other people‟s creativity, children should ___.A、write ideasB、make up storiesC、buy good notebooksD、visit museums, libraries, and science centers题号: 25 本题分数:4 分The main idea of this passage is that ___.A、children should be encouraged to draw freelyB、children should follow their parents’examplesC、parents should know how to cultivate their kids’creativityD、most parents teach their kids confidently and instructivelyMany people think New York is a noisy city. In fact, scientists who study noise say that the average noise level in New York is 72.5 decibels. This is a little louder than normal conversation, which is 65 decibels. The noise level is the result of so many people and cars in the same area. Now even the insides of taxis are noisy. When you get into a taxi, you hear the voice of a well-known singer, sports reporter, or Broadway actress giving instructions. That‟s right. The voice of a famous person tells you what to do. One popular singer gives this message:” Cats have nine lives, but you have only one, to fasten your seat beat!” Other voices say things such as “Don‟t forget to collect all your belongings.”(People often leave hats, umbrella, and bags in taxis.)There is a good reason for the messages. There are more than 12,000 cabs in New York, and every year taxis get into more than 15,000 accidents. In an acci dent, people who don‟t wear seat belts hit the partition, the glass wall separating the driver and passengers in the taxi. They can hurt their foreheads or break their noses or chins. Every year, about 11,000 people are injured in this way. Many people ar e annoyed by the voices. Cabdrivers in particular dislike the messages. ”I play the messages 12 hours a day. I hear the same voices 60 times a day. It makes me crazy,” says Atnis, a 45-year-old cabdriver.“But if I don‟t play the messages, I get fined 100 d ollars.” A lot of passengers complained, too. “It‟s too much noise,” says a passenger, “I asked the driver to turn off the message, but he said he can‟t.”Other people think the voices are a great idea. One taxi driver says,” People like to hear the famou s voices, and they put on their seat belts more often.” And passengers from out of town really like the idea. “Most of the time, taxi drivers are in a bad mood, ”says Melanie Benton, who visits New York often on business, “It"s nice to hear a cheerful voic e when you get into a cab.”题号: 26 本题分数:4 分The sentence” Cats have nine lives, but you have only one” implies that ___.A、human beings have only one lifeB、cats live longer than human beingsC、cats will have new lives after they dieD、human beings should value their lives题号: 27 本题分数:4 分People who are most likely to be injured in a taxi accident are ___. And it has become more and more popular with both young people and educational institutions. The School of Continuing and Professional Studies of New York University in Manhattan began online classes in 1992. Its Virtual School has taught more than 10, 000 students from across the United States and other countries.Last year, the school launched NYU Online. It offers NYU‟s first online programs for a bachelor‟s deg ree. Programs are offered in three areas: leadership and management, information systems management and social sciences. 自考英语二试题及答案 (2)
202X年10月试题一、阅读推断Black FridayEveryone likes to shop for gifts for the holiday season, but few people know the history of holiday shopping. While people have heard of Black Friday, most do not know its origins. Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving (感恩节). On this day most retail stores open their doors very early. Some as early as 4 am. In addition, they provide their customers with great discounts on products. With this in mind, it is clear to see why so many shoppers buy many of their Christmas gifts on Black Friday.Black Friday is not as old as many people think. In fact, it is believed that the first Black Friday was held in the 1970s in the USA. It was a day when stores decided to mark the start of the holiday season. In order to draw more customers, they offered great discounts. All products sold very well. This large success resulted in the name Black Friday. It was so named because the stores were “in the black〞. This financial term means the stores made a lot of money. However, it was not until around 202X that Black Friday really started to gain in popularity. Today in the USA, countless advertisers proudly announce their Black Friday sales. They hope to attract shoppers into their stores.Black Friday is a day when many shoppers in the USA go out and buy gifts, even though Christmas Eve is still a more popular day to shop. Thanks to the Internet, it is now possible to get some excellent Black Friday deals online. So if you don’t want to get to the stores by 4 am, this is the perfect way to still get items at reduced prices.1.Many people know the history of Black Friday.A. TrueB. FalseC. Not Given答案:B解析:原文第—段“While people have heard of Black Friday, most do not know its origins.“意为当人们听到黑色星期五时,很多人不了解它的起源。

(你感到早上起床困难很痛苦吗?) This might be called laziness, but Dr. Kleitman has a new explanation. He has proved that everyone has a daily energy cycle.During the hours when you labor through your work you may say that you’re “hot”. That’s true. The time of day when you feel most energetic is when your cycle of body temperature is at its peak(最高点). For some people the peak comes during the forenoon. For others it comes in the afternoon or evening. No one has discovered why this is so, but it leads to such familiar monologues (唠叨话)as: “Get up, John! You’ll be late for work again!”The possible explanation to the trouble is that John is at his temperature-and-energy peak in the evening. Much family quarrelling ends when husbands and wives realize what these energy cycles mean, and which cycle each member of the family has.You can’t change your energy cycle, but you can learn to make your life fit it better. Habit can help, Dr, Kleitman believes. Maybe you’re sleepy in the evening but feel you must stay up late anyway. Counteract (对抗)your cycle to some extent by habitually staying up later than you want to. If your energy is low in the morning but you have an important job to do early in the day, rise before your usual hour. This won’t change your cycle, butyou’ll get up steam and work better at your low point.Get off to a slow start which saves your energy. Get up with a leisurely yawn and stretch. Sit on the edge of the bed a minute before putting your feet on the floor. Avoid the troublesome search for clean clothes by laying them out the night before. Whenever possible, do routine work in the afternoon and save tasks requiring more energy or concentration for your sharper hours.41. According to the passage, a person has trouble rising early probably because_________. 41。
根据文章,一个人有困难,可能是因为_________早起。
A. He is a lazy person.B. His energy cycle is disordered.C. He is not a man with a strong will.D. His energy peak is in the afternoon or evening.( 他的精力高峰期在下午或晚上。
