They’re getting ready, focusing on main facts, reading between the lines and responding the text.Part 1. Getting readyReading begins before a book is opened. It’s important to activate students’ existing background knowledge and draw their attention to the topic of the text. In this part, I will use the pre-reading activities to incr ease students’ concentration, arouse their curiosities, fire their imagination and give them a purpose for reading. The part consists of two tasks:Task 1: A time machine. I start my lesson by asking senior 3 students what the date is. Then, I go on to show a picture of a time machine. I tell students that the machine with a magic power will bring them to their graduation from high school, which is 1 year away. At that point, I get them to imagine where they are and what they are doing.After it, I give a summary of their presentations as follows: After leaving high school, most of Chinese students go straight to university.Yes, at this timenext year, most of you will be studying in a university.(With the task, I inspire students’ former knowledge and imagination about graduating from high school and going to college, which can draw their attention to the theme of the reading material and get them ready for the following reading.)Task 2: Brainstorming. After the summary, I go on to show some more pictures of British students fresh from high schools, and tell students that more and more students in the UK are doing something different instead of going straight to university. After that, I play the tape of Para.1 and get students to catch the answer to the question: They will travel or work on projects for up to a year before entering university.(With the task, I excite students’ desire to know more about what their British equivalents will do before going to college. With the question in mind, students will definitely be eager to listen to the tape to find the answer. )Part 2. Focusing on main factsDuring the part, I will ask the students to answer the question—What does the author say? Students aresupposed to get a main idea of the text and understand the basic meaning of the text. Questions of this kind are not very difficult and they can be answered directly from the text. The part includes six tasks: Task 1: Three examples. I move on to tell students as follows: Last year, Carol Smith, Daniel and Martin Johnson, 3 students from the UK, went to some remote places and did something special. After the instructions, I play the tape of Paragraphs 4-6 and get students to complete the following table.Task 2: Matching. After listening, I get students to open books and scan the three paragraphs to check the answers to the previous table. Then they’re required to complete another table with a second reading. (With the task, I get students to listen to the three paragraphs instead of reading them, thus reducing the amount of reading time and reliving their psychological burden, otherwise students would be discouraged by such a long article.)(With the task, students learn to use a table to gather the main facts about the three British students. T hey’ll come to know that a table is of great help intheir future reading.)Task 3: Scanning for a detail. I get students to scan the rest paragraphs and find the answer to the question: What do people call the year off between finishing school and starting university? In doing so, I introduce the theme of the article and write on the blackboard the title: Mind the gap year.(With the task, students are expected to grasp the theme of the article. The task serves as a bridge,which connects the main facts in Paragraphs 4-6 to the opinions about the gap year in the rest paragraphs.) Task 4: Definition of the gap year. Students watch a VCR with a question in mind: What three types of activities do the UK students choose to do during a gap year? (二)单元分析及教材处理因此为了让学生有充足的AIDS知识和正确的情感态度去迎接即将到来的世界艾滋病日,而且学生也能学有所用,本单元的语言知识和语言技能的设计都围绕中心话题而展开的。

在warming up、Listening、Speaking中,通过听力训练和语言交际等活动,让学生对于AIDS、吸毒、吸烟等问题有一定的了解,并明白这些问题的严重性和危害性。

使学生在此认知的基础上进一步学习阅读课文里有关艾滋病的传播途径,预防措施以及共同探讨如何正确对待艾滋病患者等内容,并为学生以后所要完成的任务奠定了知识基础和增强学生的社会责任感。

处理本阅读课文,主要采用任务型教学模式,既要让学生通过语言实践活动来体验语言,从而提升自己综合语言运用的能力,又要让学生充分了解到抵御艾滋病,拒绝毒品他们责无旁贷,教会学生学会关爱生命,主动帮助和关怀艾滋病患者。

三 .教学重点和难点本着课程标准,在吃透教材基础上,我觉得本课是学生对于AIDS理解的程度从知识的浅面上升到情感态度价值观重要的一节课。

(一)重点:1.理解课文的内容,深入了解有关艾滋病的概念、传播途径以及预防措施。

2.理解和掌握课文的语言点,并能用英语解释新的语言点:break down,defenceless,be infected with,by doing,die of,a lack of,as with,have a chance to do,encourage sb to do sth ,cheer up,suffer from,deal with,contact with,persuade ,as if,live with。

教学重点的理由如下:学生每学一课,首先要掌握一定量的词汇和固定用法,通过阅读课掌握一定量的词汇并且提高学生的阅读理解能力,符合新大纲的要求。

(二)难点1 如何使用所学的知识来完成学习任务。

2.正确使用发表个人观点的句型、结构高中英语教学仍要坚持组织听、说、读、写各项活动,发展学生的综合语言技能,以提高他们的语言交际能力和阅读理解能力,使学生通过阅读课文获得一定的词汇量和信息量,通过讨论并且利用自己已有的知识完成任务。

这根据高二学生的语言组织能力是有一定难度的。

我觉得教学的关键就是教会学生克服难点,办法是让学生通过小组合作学习活动,根据每个学生的不同条件,有效发挥每个学生的特长,通过合作最终完成共同的目标。

学法指导新制定的《英语课程标准》把“培养学生学习英语的兴趣,树立自信心,培养良好学习习惯和形成有效策略,发展自主学习和合作精神”放在了首位。

依据课改的精神,我从以下几个方面对学生进行学法指导。

本节课将在课堂活动中把学生分成四人小组的学习小组,让他们围绕着课堂任务分工合作,在活动中相互探讨、相互交流、相互合作,从而获得知识、技能和情感体验,发展他们的能力。

创建开放式,探究式的课堂,有意识渗透学习策略的训练。

1.我让学生在学习中借助课件里的影片,音乐,图片、图表等非语言信息进行理解或表达。

让学生学会使用认知策略;2.让学生充分利用交流、表演等真实交际活动提高用英语交际的能力,在其过程中能借助手势、表情等非语言手段提高交际效果,能克服语言障碍,维持交际。

,实现交际策略;3.引导学生利用网络资源,主动拓宽英语学习渠道,创造和把握学习英语的机会;积极参与采访、表演、调查、创作等英语学习活动,是调控策略的体现。

4.充分利用多媒体,校园网络,Internet,录音,影片片等是资源策略。

说学情高中年龄段的学生对周围的事物较为敏感,有自己的观点和看法,他们不满足于教科书上的知识,想获得更多的信息。

在英语学习上,他们不只是想把英语作为一门死记硬背的课程来学,更希望能学到知识性和趣味性兼有的内容,从英语学习中获得更多的知识和能力。

因此,应结合学生的实际情况,因材施教,激发学生兴趣,让学生主动学习,学有所获。

综上所述,为了鼓励学生通过体验、实践、讨论、合作和探究等学习方式,开发和利用课程资源,让知识从课内走向课外,从书本从向实践。

我们把本单元的核心任务确定为:1.组织学生和校医合作,建立AIDS教育宣传栏;2.和德育处合作,布置以“遏制艾滋,履行承诺”。

(Stop the AIDS,keep the promise)为主题的黑板报和班会课。

3.利用校园网络课程资源,下载“AIDS宣传教育片”,组织学生利用下午自习课观看。
