1. The other team was strong, but you beat them.

team是集体名词。集体名词表示一群人或一类物的结合体，如audience, committee, class(班级), family, government, public, team等。

这些集体名词如视为“一个整体”，用单数形式的谓语动词；如将侧重点放在组成集团的成员上，则用复数形式的谓语动词。

我的家庭是个幸福的家庭。

这个组总是按照领导的指挥投票。

3. Danny is just about to say something when he sees Steven running towards them carrying a basketball.

be (seem) about to do 刚要；行将

be about to do sth. when…/be doing sth. when…结构中的when要理解为“这时……”。

詹妮正要出去散步，这时电话响了。

Jenny was about to go out for a walk when the phone rang.

4. Well, my computer broke down the day before yesterday and it’s still being repaired.

break down 损坏；出毛病；失效

be being done 结构是进行时的被动语态，表示“正在被……”

很抱歉，我又迟到了，在路上我的自行车坏了。

I’m sorry to be late again, but my bike broke down on my way.

你不能搬进那所新房子，因为现在正在粉刷呢。

You cannot move into the new house, for it is being painted now.

see sb. doing sth. 看到某人在做某事

see sb. do sth. 看到某人做某事(的全过程)

listen to, hear, watch, notice等用法也同see相同。

詹妮看到丹尼和史蒂文正在操场上打架。

Jenny saw Danny and Steven fighting on the playground.

我看见史蒂文用篮球打了丹尼的头。

I saw Steven hit Danny’s head with a basketball.
