I was glad there was thick glass between us and that mighty beast. Although the malelion looked terrifying, I thought he was also kind of majestic and beautiful.Around noon, we stopped for a pizza lunch at one of the zoo's restaurants. I had two slices of pepperoni pizza, which is my favorite. My brother, as usual, got ice cream for his lunch! No fair! After refueling, we resumed our zoo adventure.The next stop was the reptile house. I shuddered a bit when we went inside because it was so humid and hot to accommodate all the snakes and lizards. We saw a huge python curled up in the corner. Its body was as thick as a truck tire! The zoo keeper told us they feed it enormous rats. Yuck! My mom said I turned green at that point. But my favorite were the cheerful little gecko lizards. They were so small and cute!Finally, we visited the polar bear area at the end of the day. There was a mama bear swimming lazily in a giant pool of water while her two cubs jumped and played all around her. At one point, the mama bear caught one of the cubs in her mouth and tossed it playfully into the air! The cub seemed to love it based on its squeals. I could have watched those silly polar bears all day.By the time we left around 4pm, we were absolutely exhausted. I had footprints all over my clothes from sitting onthe ground so much. My mom and dad took me and my little sister to the amazing zoo. We woke up super early and packed a big picnic lunch. I could hardly sit still in the car because I was so hyper about seeing all the cool animals.When we finally got to the zoo, the first thing we did was go see the big gorillas. There was a huge daddy gorilla that kinda scared me at first because he was so massive. But then he just sat down and started munching on some lettuce which made him look pretty silly and not scary at all. My sister thought he looked like our grandpa eating his greens!After the gorilla area, we walked over to see the tall giraffes. They had the longest necks I've ever seen! One of the giraffes was sticking his giant tongue out to grab some leaves off a tree.My dad said giraffes have purple tongues which I thought was really weird. We got to watch the giraffes eating for a while before heading to the next exhibit.The next place we went was the big elephant area. There was a whole family of elephants just hanging out and swinging their trunks around. My dad told me that elephants are really smart animals. We saw one elephant squirt water all over itself by sucking some up into its trunk and spraying it everywhere. It looked like it was taking a shower! Another elephant looked straight at me and walked super close. I wasn't scared though because there was a really thick glass wall between us.For lunch, we had a picnic on the grass near a huge field where zebras and antelope were running around. The zebras were so cool with their black and white stripes. We saw a couple little baby zebras sticking close to their mommies too. After we ate our sandwiches, we played a game of tag for a while before going to see more animals.The reptile house was one of the coolest places of the whole zoo in my opinion. As soon as you walked in, the warm air hit you right in the face. My mom said that's because the snakes and lizards need it to be hot like where they're from. I got to see a gigantic python sunbathing under a hot lamp on a rock. Thething was atleast as long as my dad is tall! There were also tons of brightly colored frogs and chameleons to look at. My favorite was the green and orange one that could almost bend itself in half.Towards the end of the day, we went to see the polar bears swimming around in their big pool. Those things were huge! One polar bear jumped really high out of the water to catch a fish that someone threw in. I've never seen anything move through water that quickly before. After getting soaked by the giant splash, we decided to call it a day and headed home.On the ride back, I was totally worn out from walking around the whole zoo for so many hours. I fell sound asleep as soon as we got on the highway. That night, I had crazy dreams of riding on the back of an elephant or swimming in the water with those polar bears. After resting for a bit, we headed over to the reptile house. I'm not going to lie, some of those snakes and lizards kind of freaked me out a little! My dad thought it would be funny to tease me by saying "Hey look, that iguana wants to be friends with you!" I wasn't having any of that!The last animals we saw were the amazing Gorillas. These incredible primates were so big and powerful looking, yet also surprisingly gentle and calm. I watched as one of the biggestmale gorillas tenderly groomed a tiny baby gorilla. It was just about the cutest thing I had ever seen. The gorilla seemed to know the baby was fragile and treated it with such care.By the time we finished seeing all the exhibits, the sun was starting to go down. I was exhausted from walking around all day in the hot summer heat. As we drove home, I fell fast asleep dreaming about my awesome day at the zoo. I couldn't wait to tell all my friends about my amazing trip when I went back to school. I already couldn't wait to go to the zoo again! It was the best day ever.。
