Overview
Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province, is one of China’s main
industrial centers, covering an area of 7,434 square kilometers.
Location: Guangzhou located in the south part of China, at the
mouth of the Pearl River. Neighboring Areas: Hunan, Jiangxi, Fujian,
and Hainan provinces; Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous
History: Guangzhou has a history of 2,200 years, regarded as
the the earliest among the international trade port cities in the world;
built as Chuting by the Chu people on the middle reaches of the Yang.
Climate: Guangzhou has south subtropical marine climate with an annual average temperature of 21.8 degree Celsius, rainfall of 1694 millimeters, and a frost-free period of 345 days.
Population: Guangzhou has 12.7 million.
Resources: Its abundant in agricultural and aquatic resources. Its mineral resources include coal, salt, copper, iron, zinc, lead and limestone.
Industry: Guangzhou’s industry covers machinery, shipbuilding, textiles, sugar-refinery, household electrical appliances, computers, petrochemicals, light industrial products for daily use, rubber products and garments. The Guangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone situated in Huangpu has already taken shape.

Pearl River: The third largest river in China,
the Pearl River measures 2,129 meters in length, with its name deriving from the Haizhu Rock (Sea Pearl Rock). Guangzhou Tower: The Guangzhou is one of the world′s most spectacular new buildings. It is not only the world′s tallest TV tower (600m), beating Toronto′s CN-tower (553m), but also a surprisingly beautiful structure.
Guangzhou Baiyun Mountain: located in the northern outskirts of the city is the closing range of Dayu Mountains in the south. The Mountain was called Baiyun (white cloud) because of the forming of a white cloud over its range. Its highest peak is Moxing Peak, 380 meters above sea level. The mountain home to verdant greens offers breathtaking views of the Bird Paradise
Guangdong Yuan Xuan Taoist Temple
Guangdong Yuan Xuan Taoist Temple in Guangzhou is one of
the popular tourist spots in the city. Located near the Bi
Village, which is on the west of the Xinhua Town, this temple was constructed by the Yuan Xuan Institute of Hong Kong. Shopping in Guangzhou
Guangzhou has some reasonable department stores including the South Mansion Department Store that gets most of its stock direct from Hong Kong.
Also, there are some great little boutiques to be found on Shamian Island and Beijing Lu. Guangdong is famous for its exquisite Embroidery which can also be found at some of the good night markets on Xinhu Lu or Jiaoyue Road.

Guangzhou delicacies are the main representatives of Yue Cai (Cantonese Cuisine), which includes
Guangzhou dishes, Chaozhou dishes and Dongjiang dishes and enjoys great popularity all over the country. Guangzhou cuisine uses a wide range of ingredients from the sky, the earth, and the water. They also use seasonings sparingly. Compared with other Chinese cuisines, Guangzhou dishes use few thick spicy dressings in order to keep from masking the original taste of the food Xiguan preserves lots of famous traditional snacks. The most lively and popular place is definitely the Shangxia Jiu Lu.
