The Pasture

I’M going out to clean the pasture spring;

I’ll only stop to rake the leaves away

(And wait to watch the water clear, I may):

I shan’t be gone long.—You come too.

I’m going out to fetch the little calf

That’s standing by the mother. It’s so young,

It totters when she licks it with her tongue.

Daffodils

I wondered lonely as a cloud

That floats on high o'er vales and hills,

A host, of golden daffodils;

Beside the lake, beneath the trees, Fluttering and dancing in the breeze. Continuous as the stars that shine

And twinkle on the Milky Way,

They stretched in never-ending line Along the margin of a bay:

Ten thousand saw I at a glance

Tossing their heads in sprightly dance. The waves beside them danced, but they Out-did the sparking waves in glee:

A Poet could not but be gay

In such a jocund company:
