The art of paper-cutting originated in China and it can date back to the second century C.E. since paper was invented by Cai Lun in the Eastern Han Dynasty in China. Chinese Paper Cutting also named Jianzhi ( 剪纸); as paper became more affordable, papercutting became to one of the important art styles in Chinese folk culture and the art form later spread to other parts of the world with different regions adopting their own cultural styles. Chinese painting is one of the oldest continuous artistic traditions in the world.
