盱眙地处江苏北部，隶属江苏省淮安市，是徐州、盐城、连云港、宿迁、淮安五市到省会南京的必经之地。县内现辖14镇5乡，面积2483平方公里，人均面积居江苏第一。

Xuyi Located in Huai’ an Cit y, in northern Jiangsu Province, Xuyi County is a must passage fro m Xuzhou, Y ancheng, Lianyungang, Suqian and Huai’an cities to Nanjing, capital of the province.The county governs 14 towns and five townships, and has a totalarea of 2,483 square kilometers, ranking it first in terms of percapita land across Jiangsu.

盱眙先后荣获中国龙虾之都、中国最佳文化生态旅游目的地、中国最佳生态旅游县、中国旅游强县、中国优秀旅游名县、2008年度全国最具投资潜力中小城市百强县、长三角最具投资价值的20个县（市）、中国诗词之乡、中国老区旅游资源开发先进县、全国生态建设示范区、全国绿化模范县、全国水土保持与生态环境建设示范县、全国经济林建设先进县、全国林业系统先进集体、全国粮食生产先进县、爱国拥军模范单位、国家科技富民强县试点县、江苏省文明城市等几十个国家级和省级荣誉称号。

近500个投资项目落户盱眙，每年300万人次观光旅游，财政年增幅30%以上，形成了区域经济文化腾飞的大效应—依靠龙虾品牌，借力国际龙虾节，小小龙虾带动了盱眙经济的全面腾飞。新近“出炉”的盱眙经济发展成果令人欣喜：“十一五”以来，盱眙人均GDP、财政收入、城镇居民可支配收入、农民人均收入同比分别增长了34.2%、45%、14.7%、12.9%，增幅位于全省前列。

2009年，盱眙成功实现“两突破、一达到”：人均GDP突破3000美元、城镇居民人均可支配收入突破2000美元、农民人均现金收入基本达到1000美元。提前完成“十一五”主要经济指标，实现了跨越式发展。
