是美国总统罗斯福利用大众传播手段进行政治性公关活动的事 例之一。20世纪30年代,美国经济处于大萧条时期。罗斯福的 前任总统胡佛,4年任期内正碰上全球性经济危机,美国经济 在短短几个月内几乎崩溃,至1932年冬天,全国至少有1300万 人失业,3400万人没有任何收入。人们依靠私人施舍、市和州 政府少得可怜的公共救济,以及自己微不足道的积蓄度日。为 了求得美国人民对政府的支持,缓解萧条,美国总统富兰克林· 罗斯福利用炉边谈话节目通过收音机向美国人民进行宣传。他 的谈7 话不仅鼓舞了美国人民,坚定了人民的信心,而且也宣传 了他的货币及社会改革的基本主张,从而赢得了人们的理解和 尊敬。对美国政府度过艰难,缓和危机起到了较大作用。

新世纪商务英语第二版阅读教程2:叶兴国unit13答案Unit13Part I Background Information《国富论》总结了近代初期各国资本主义发展的经验,并在批刘吸收了当时有关重要经济理论的基础上,就整个国民经济运动过程作了较系统、较明白的描述。

本书不但对英国资本主义的发展产生了重大的促进作用,且对世界资本主义的发展来说,恐怕也没有任何其他一-部资产阶级的经济学著作曾产生那么广泛的影响。

难怪当时有些资产阶级学者把它奉为至宝。

《国富论》在今日之意义主要表现在以下两点:首先,承认人在经济生活中的利已性是搞市场经济的前视。

其次,亚当,斯密在(国富论)中提出的依革“看不见的手”管理经济尽量减少政府干预的思想对每个国家的经济改革有重要的指导意义。

2. Adam Smith: 亚当.斯密(1723- -1790),著名经济学家,经济学的主要创立者。

1723年,亚当.斯密出生于苏格兰法夫郡的魁克卡迪,青年时最早就读于格拉斯哥大学,后转人牛津大学。

1750年到1764年亚当.斯密在格拉斯哥大学担任逻辑学和道德学教授,于1759年出版了第一本著作《道德情操论》,并因此确立了他在知识界的地位。

Address consumer complaints and difficulties. They have policies and procedures to address consumer problems quickly and fairly, and without extra cost or inconvenience to the consumer.
Protect consumer privacy during electronic commerce sales. Businesses post their privacy policies or information practice statements obviously on their websites, and offer people choices about how their personal information is used. They give consumers the opportunity to refuse having their personal information shared with others or used for promotional purposes.
Ensure that consumers know they are making a promise to buy before closing the deal.
These businesses take steps to protect consumers who are merely “surfing the Net” from unknowingly entering a sale contract. They give the consumer a chance to change the order before promising to the purchase or to cancel it altogether. They also allow consumers to keep a record of the deal.

Teaching Objectives:

2. To learn how to deal with marriage frictions;

Teaching Procedures:
Part I Pre-reading Questions
It can be used as lead-in questions. For students, they can discuss with each other and will have free answers. Part II Extensive Reading
In this part, there are two texts and their relevant exercises. By reading the texts in limited time, Teacher helps students understand the contents and the reading methods to build reading abilities gradually.
Text A Married, with Money
a. Let the students skim and scan Text A as quickly as possible to get the answers to Exercises I ⅈ
b. then Check the answers to Exercises I ⅈ
c. Analyze the language points in the text:
1. The husband wanted her to incorporate to reduce their income, thereby allowing the son to qualify for
more aid. 丈夫要她把公司与别家合并以减少收入,这样一来就可让儿子有资格获得更多的经济援助。

2. get bogged down with: 由于……而陷入困境。

如:You must not get bogged down with details. 你不

f. Assign Exercises II and III as their homework.
Text B Positive Thinkers
a. Several minutes for students to use some basic reading skills to read the text only once, then ask them to do Exercise I;
b. Check the answers to Exercise I;
c. Point out some language points:
1. Panda Express: “熊猫快餐”是著名的中式快餐连锁店,分店遍布美国各州。

d. Assign Exercises II and III as their homework.
Part III Reading Skills
Before dealing with Text A and Text B, ask students to read through the whole passage of reading skill, to lead them to understand the details about professional knowledge and background information, especially the examples.
Part IV Supplementary Reading: Yours, Mine & Mine
Ask students to read it in a limited time after class, and then write a summary.
Part V Test Yourself
Ask students to do it and check the answers by themselves.
Questions for Discussion and Reflection:
1. Have you ever experienced marriage friction in your family? If so, can you tell us your story?
2. In your opinion, what is the difference between work with your head and work with your heart? Assignments
1. Write a short summary of about 50 words to express the main idea of Supplementary Reading;
2. Finish all exercises in this unit.
3. Review the contents learned and preview what is not learned in Unit 1
