In the digital age, the emergence of online shopping has revolutionized the way we purchase goods and services. This essay aims to explore the profound impact that online shopping has had on modern life, touching upon its convenience, economic implications, and social effects.Convenience and AccessibilityThe primary advantage of online shopping is its convenience. Consumers can now browse through a vast array of products from the comfort of their homes, without the need to physically visit stores. This has been particularly beneficial for those with mobility issues or those living in remote areas. Furthermore, online platforms often operate24/7, allowing for purchases at any time, which suits the busy schedules of modern consumers.Economic ImplicationsFrom an economic perspective, online shopping has led toincreased competition among retailers. This has resulted in lower prices and a wider variety of products available to consumers. Additionally, the rise of e-commerce has created new job opportunities in areas such as digital marketing, web development, and customer service.Social EffectsHowever, the social effects of online shopping are not without controversy. While it has made shopping more accessible, it has also contributed to the decline of traditional brick-and-mortar stores, leading to job losses in the retail sector. Moreover, the impersonal nature of online transactions has raised concerns about the erosion of social interaction and the loss of the communal shopping experience.Environmental ConsiderationsOn the environmental front, online shopping has a mixed impact. While it reduces the need for physical transportation to stores, thereby reducing carbon emissions, the packaging and shipping processes can contribute to waste and pollution.ConclusionIn conclusion, online shopping has become an integral part of modern life, offering unparalleled convenience and economic benefits. However, it is crucial to address the social and environmental challenges it presents. As technology continues to advance, it is up to society to harness its potential while mitigating its drawbacks.

As is clearly reflected in the above pie chart, the proportion of money spent on various affairs demonstrates obvious differences during the Spring Festival in one city of China. According to the data given, the money spent on buying gifts for others tak es a lion’s share, accounting for 40%. While transportation takes away 20% of the whole proportion. What triggers this phenomenon? It is not difficult to put forward several factors responsible for this phenomenon. To start with, with the ever-growing eagerness to keep up with others, oceans of folks intended to offer thicker and thicker red envelope to kids as gift money, which leads to the high proportion of our expenditure. What’s more, due to the great urbanization, most Chinese residents move from their hometowns to work in big cities. In order to cover the long distance and enjoy the happy together with family members, a large amount of money is spent on transportation. In view of the arguments above, we can conclude that the current phenomenon is of no surprise. And therefore, it can be predicted that buying gifts and transportation will still take up a large share in our expenditure during the Spring Festival.

The pie chart above presents the different proportion of residents’ consumption in a Chinese city during Spring Festival. To be specific, the percentage of consumption on New Year’s gifts, party, traffic and others is 40%, 20% , 20% and 20% respectively. Surprisingly, the pertinent number about gifts is 40%. Isolated as the figures seem to be, they are connected to one another closely.Undoubtedly, the purpose of the graph is to showcase the diversity of residents ’ consumption dur ing holidays in China, especially over-consumption on gifts as a frequent way of interpersonal communication. What exactly contribute to this phenomenon? It’s athought-provoking question. First and foremost, advertisements of mass media, such as radio, television and Internet, might be misleading. Plus, pertinent action taken by the governmentto put an end to this trend might be little and limit. Therefore, people, men and women, old and young, in mounting numbers are spending too much on holiday gift which floods everywhere. To sum up, there is an upward tendency for people these days to spend money on festival presents rather than other things, which I believe will not change in a short time. T o reverse the trend is not a piece of cake, which requires a good awareness of consumption value and interpersonal communication. Only in this way can we have colorful festivals and relaxing times. (223 words)二、What is conspicuously presented in the given data is exactly the proportion of spending of inhabitants in a certain city in our country during the Spring Festival. According to the statistics available in the chart above, the total spending can be classified into four kinds as follows: the cost of new year’s gifts, traffic spending, party and gathering costs and others. In general, the figures provided above suggest that new year’s presents, making up 40%, is the largest percentage, then next is traffic, party and gathering, and others at 20% respectively. It goes far beyond any reasonable dispute that the above chart is a vivid reflection of a fairly familiar social phenomenon: people in mounting numbers spend too much on giving gifts to each other for the time being. Indeed, the previous few decades has witnessed the growing incidence of such a trend. And it’s so prevalent that a great deal of attention is being paid today tosuch a tide. The general public and the mass media have focused on the strengths and weaknesses of it, but few have come up with relevant actions.Much can be done. The mass media and schools of all levels, fore and most, could serve as a counterbalance, doing its utmost to awaken the general public to the severity of this upsetting phenomenon. Meanwhile, it is the responsibility of the government to curb such a behavior. I am strongly convinced that the sooner we take such practices seriously, the better our prospect will be.(251 words)三、Here is a pie chart, simple but accurate. It goes without saying that the chart records the proportions of the Spring Festival’s expense of the residents in a certain city in China, which successfully arouses our curiosity. As is clearly reflected by the graph, the expense has been spent on totally different things. Especially, the money used to buy the New Year’s gifts accounts for 40% of the ent ire expense, which already outweighs all the others. Definitely, what the chart reflects is supposed to be given further analysis.Theoretically, several reasons may trigger the trend that people tend to spend more money to buy gifts during the Spring Festival, but as for my part, the following two are of great value. On the top of list is that the current state of the affair may have been encouraged, though not justified, by the widely spreading advertisements of gifts. In addition, there is the other point that no one can ignore. It is universally acknowledged that the Spring Festival is the most important festi val in our nation during which most people will buy gifts for their families and friends.(188)四、The pie chart above clearly illustrates the percentage of the residents’spending during the Spring Festival Vacation in a certain city of China. From the statistics given, we may draw the conclusion that the percentage of New Year presents is highest among all the four categories, at approximately 40%, whereas the data of transport, gathering and dining, as well as others account for about 20% respectively. The fundamental factors that contribute to the aforementioned tendency may be summarized as follows. To start with, a New Year gift might be memorable because of the special occasion when people give it to you. If the present is something that only your best friend knew you had wanted, you will never forget it in that it shows the closeness of your relationship with that friend. In addition, festival presents might be unforgettable since they are related to significant events in your life. For instance, I still remember the first New Year gift my best friend, Neo gave me.In summary, people spend a lot on Spring Festival presents for a large number of reasons. Some gifts might be memorable owing to the special person who gave the gift. Others are unforgettable due to the significance of the event. Most of all, it is easy to remember special presents as they give you a significant sense of personal worth. (225 words)。

In the modern era, the rapid development of technology has profoundly influenced various aspects of our lives, and education is no exception. The integration of technology into the educational system has been a topic of much debate. This essay aims to discuss the positive and negative impacts of technology on education and to propose a balanced view.Positive Impacts:1. Enhanced Accessibility: Technology has made education more accessible than ever before. Students can now access a wealth of information and resources online, which were previously limited to libraries and classrooms.2. Interactive Learning: The use of interactive tools such as educational apps and online platforms has made learning more engaging and interactive. This has been particularly beneficial for students with different learning styles.3. Personalized Learning: Technology allows for personalizedlearning experiences. Students can learn at their own pace and focus on areas where they need improvement.Negative Impacts:1. Diminished Human Interaction: With the increased reliance on technology, there is a risk of diminishing face-to-face interaction between teachers and students, which is crucial for building relationships and effective communication.2. Over-reliance on Technology: Students may become overly dependent on technology for learning, which could hindertheir ability to think critically and solve problems independently.3. Digital Divide: There is a concern that the digital divide may widen educational disparities, as not all students have equal access to technological resources.A Balanced View:While technology offers numerous benefits to the educational process, it is essential to ensure that it complements, rather than replaces, traditional teaching methods. Educators should strive to find a balance between leveraging technology and maintaining the human element in education. This could involve using technology to enhance classroom discussions, to provide additional resources, and to facilitate collaborative projects. In conclusion, technology has the potential to revolutionizeeducation, but it must be used judiciously. The key is to harness the power of technology to enrich the learning experience while preserving the essential aspects of traditional education.

Nowadays, the integration of digital technology into the educational system has become a topic of great interest and debate. As we move further into the 21st century, the landscape of education is changing rapidly, with digitaltools playing an increasingly significant role. This essay will explore the impact of digital technology on education, focusing on both its advantages and potential drawbacks.Firstly, one of the most notable benefits of digital technology in education is the accessibility it provides. With the advent of online courses and educational apps, students can now access a wealth of information and learning materials from anywhere in the world. This has been particularly beneficial for those who may not have the opportunity to attend traditional schools or universities due to geographical, financial, or other constraints.Secondly, digital technology enhances the interactive nature of learning. Interactive whiteboards, educational software, and virtual reality simulations can make learning more engaging and enjoyable for students. For instance, a history lesson can come alive through a virtual tour of an ancient civilization, providing a more immersive and memorable experience than a textbook could offer. However, the integration of digital technology also presents challenges. One concern is the potential for distraction. With the internet at their fingertips, students may be tempted to engage in activities unrelated to their studies, such as social media or online gaming, during class time. This can detract from the learning process and may require new strategies from educators to maintain focus and discipline.Another challenge is the digital divide, where unequal access to technology can exacerbate existing educational inequalities. Students from more affluent backgrounds may have better access to high-quality digital resources, while those from less privileged backgrounds may struggle to keep up. This can lead to a widening gap in educational outcomes between different socioeconomic groups. In conclusion, digital technology has the potential to revolutionize education by making it more accessible and interactive. However, it also presents challenges that need to be addressed, such as distraction and the digital divide. It is crucial for educators, policymakers, and technologists to work together to harness the benefits of digital technology while mitigating its potential negative effects. By doing so, we can strive towards a more inclusive and effective educational system for all students.。

The writing part of the exam required us to choose one of the two topics and write an essay of at least 800 words. I chose the topic about the impact of social media on interpersonal communication. I started by discussing the positive aspects of social media, such as its ability to connect people from different partsof the world and facilitate communication. Then, I delved into the negative effects, such as the potential for misunderstandings and the lack of face-to-face interaction.I also provided examples to support my points, such as how social media has helped me stay in touch with friends and family who live far away, but also how it can sometimeslead to miscommunication. After discussing both the positive and negative aspects, I concluded by emphasizing the importance of finding abalance in using social media for communication. I also suggested that people should be mindful of how they communicate online and strive to maintain meaningful connections in person.

Youshouldwriteabout100wordsontheANSERESHEET.Donotuseyournameorthenameofyouruniversity.

其次,对于通知的内容题目也给出了详细的规定:1)brieflyintroducethecampactivities(简要介绍相关活动);2)callforvolunteers(招募志愿者)。

Directions:Write an essay based on the following chart. In your writing, you should1) interpret the chart, and2) give your comments. You should write about 150 words on the ANSWER SHEET.

Here is a chart, simple but accurate.2.

先将“我国某市居民春节假期花销比例”译成英语,根据倒鱼钩翻译法,可译成the proportions of the Spring Festival’s expense of the residents in a certain city in China。

47. Directions:Suppose your university is going to host a summer camp for high school students. Write a notice to1) briefly introduce the camp activities , and2) call for volunteers .You should write about 100 words on the ANSWER SHEET.Do not use your name or the name of your university.Do not write your address.

V olunteers NeededJanuary 15, 2015 Our university is going to host a summer camp for high school students from July 1th to 7th, 2015. We would like to recruit ten volunteers for this event. The theme of the summer camp is “Better environment, better life”. 2015考研英语二作文

In 2015, the English essay for postgraduate entrance exams was a challenging task for many candidates. It required a unique blend of fluency and creativity, all while adhering to strict guidelines.Firstly, the essay had to be written in English, with a focus on conversational language. This meant avoiding overly formal or academic phrases and embracing a more natural, day-to-day tone. It was a balancing act, ensuring that the language was appropriate for the academic context while still sounding authentic and approachable.Secondly, the absence of a title and the requirementfor independent paragraphs added to the challenge. Each paragraph needed to stand alone, without relying on transitions or connecting words to create a coherent narrative. This meant that each idea or point had to be fully developed within its own space, without any external scaffolding. The third requirement was to demonstrate diversity in expression. This meant that each paragraph had to have its own unique voice and style. Some might use humor or anecdotes to engage the reader, while others might employ more analytical or descriptive language. The goal was to show a range of writing techniques and keep the reader engaged throughout.Despite these constraints, the essay remained acreative outlet for candidates. It allowed them to express their thoughts and ideas in a way that was both personal and academic. Whether they chose to focus on personal experiences, social issues, or abstract concepts, the essay was a platform for them to showcase their unique perspective and writing skills. In conclusion, the 2015 post。

But you wouldn‟t know it, 3 into your phone. This universal protection sends the 4 : “Please don‟t approach me.”What is it that makes us feel we need to hide 5 our screens? One answer is fear, according to Jon Wortmann, an executive mental coach. We fear rejection, or that our innocent social advances will be 6 as “weird.” We fear we‟ll be 7 . We fear we‟ll be disruptive.Strangers are inherently 8 to us, so we are more likely to feel 9 when communicating with them compared with our friends and acquaintances. Answer the questions below each text by choosing A, B, C or D. Mark your answers on ANSWER SHEET 1. (40 points)Text 1A new study suggests that contrary to most surveys, people are actually more stressed at home that at work. Researchers measured people‟s cortisol, which is stress marker, while they were at work and while they were at home and found it higher at what is supposed to be a place of refuge.“Further contradicting conventional wisdom, we found that women as well as men have lower levels of stress at work than at home,” writes one of the researchers, Sarah Damaske. In fact women even say they feel better at work, she notes. “It is men, not women, who report being happier at home than at work.” Another surprise is that the findings hold true for both those with children and without, but more so for nonparents. This is why people who work outside the home have better health. What the study doesn‟t measure is whether people are still doing work when they‟re at home, whether it is household work or work brought home from the office. For many men, the end of the workday is a time to kick back. For women who stay home, they never get to leave the office. And for women who work outside the home, they often are playing catch-up-with-household tasks. With the blurring of roles, and the fact that the home front lags well behind the workplace in making adjustments for working women, it‟s not sur prising that women are more stressed at home. But it‟s not just a gender thing. At work, people pretty much know what they‟re supposed to be doing: working, making money, doing the tasks they have to do in order to draw an income. The bargain is very pure: Employee puts in hours of physical or mental labor and employee draws out life-sustaining moola. On the home front, however, people have no such clarity. Rare is the household in which the division of labor is so clinically and methodically laid out. There are a lot of tasks to be done, there are inadequate rewards for most of them. Your home colleagues — your family — have no clear rewards for their labor; they need to be talked into it, or if they‟re teenagers, threatened with complete removal of all ele ctronic devices. Plus, they‟re your family. You cannot fire your family. You never really get to go home from home.So it‟s not surprising that people are more stressed at home. Not only are the tasks apparently infinite, the co-workers are much harder to motivate.21. According to Paragraph 1, most previous surveys found that home_______.[A] was an unrealistic place for relaxation[B] generated more stress than the workplace[C] was an ideal place for stress measurement[D] offered greater relaxation than the workplace22. According to Damaske, who are likely to be the happiest at home?[A] Working mothers.[B] Childless husbands.[C] Childless wives.[D] Working fathers.23. The blurring of working women‟s roles refers to the fact they_______.[A] they are both bread winners and housewives[B] their home is also a place for kicking back[C] there is often much housework left behind[D] it is difficult for them to leave their office24. The word “moola” (Line 4, Para 4) most probably means_______.[A] energy[B] skills[C] earnings[D] nutrition25. The home front differs from the workplace in that_______.[A] home is hardly a cozier working environment[B] division of labor at home is seldom clear-cut[C] household tasks are generally more motivating[D] family labor is often adequately rewardedText 2For years, studies have found that first-generation college students — those who do not have a parent with a college degree — lag other students on a range of education achievement factors. Their grades are lower and their dropout rates are higher. But since such students are most likely to advance economically if they succeed in higher education, colleges and universities have pushed for decades to recruit more of them. This has created “a paradox” in that r ecruiting first-generation students, but then watching many of them fail, means that higher education has “continued to reproduce and widen, rather than close” an achievement gap based on social class, according to the depressing beginning of a paper forthcoming in the journal Psychological Science. But the article is actually quite optimistic, as it outlines a potential solution to this problem, suggesting that an approach (which involves a one-hour, next-to-no-cost program) can close 63 percent of the achievement gap (measured by such factors as grades) between first-generation and other students. The authors of the paper are from different universities, and their findings are based on a study involving 147 students (who completed the project) at an unnamed private university. First generation was defined as not having a parent with a four-year college degree. Most of the first-generation students (59.1 percent) were recipients of Pell Grants, a federal grant for undergraduates with financial need, while this was true only for 8.6 percent of the students with at least one parent with a four-year degree.Their thesis — that a relatively modest intervention could have a big impact — was based on the view that first-generation students may be most lacking not in potential but in practical knowledge about how to deal with the issues that face most college students. They cite past research by several authors to show that this is the gap that must be narrowed to close the achievement gap. Many first-generatio n students “struggle to navigate the middle-class culture of higher education, learn the …rules of the game,‟ and take advantage of college resources,” they write. And this becomes more of a problem when collages don‟t talk about the class advantages and d isadvantages of different groups of students. “Because US colleges and universities seldom acknowledge how social class can affect students‟ educational experiences, many first-generation students lack insight about why they are struggling and do not under stand how students …like them‟ can improve. ”26. Recruiting more first-generation students has_______.[A] reduced their dropout rates[B] narrowed the achievement gap[C] missed its original purpose[D] depressed college students27. The author of the research article are optimistic because_______.[A] the problem is solvable[B] their approach is costless[C] the recruiting rate has increased[D] their findings appeal to students28. The study suggests that most first-generation students______.[A] study at private universities[B] are from single-parent families[C] are in need of financial support[D] have failed their collage29. The authors of the paper believe that first-generation students_______.[A] are actually indifferent to the achievement gap[B] can have a potential influence on other students[C] may lack opportunities to apply for research projects[D] are inexperienced in handling their issues at college30. We may infer from the last paragraph that_______.[A] universities often reject the culture of the middle-class[B] students are usually to blame for their lack of resources[C] social class greatly helps enrich educational experiences[D] colleges are partly responsible for the problem in questionText 3Even in traditional offices, “the lingua franca of corporate America has gotten much more emotional and much more right-brained than it was 20 years ago,” said Harvard Business School professor Nancy Koehn. She started spinning off examples. “If you and I parachuted back to Fortune 500 companies in 1990, we would see much less frequent use of terms like journey, mission, passion. There were goals, there were strategies, there were objectives, but we didn‟t talk about energy; we didn‟t talk about passion.”Koehn pointed out that this new era of corporate vocabulary is very “team”-oriented — and not by coincidence. “Let‟s not forget sports — in male-dominated corporate America, it‟s still abig deal. It‟s not explicitly conscious; it‟s the idea that I‟m a coach, and you‟re my team, and we‟re in this together. There are lots and lots of CEOs in very different companies, but most think of themselves as coaches and this is their team and they want to win.”These terms are also intended to infuse work with meaning — and, as Khurana points out, increase allegiance to the firm. “You have the importation of terminology that historically used to be associated with non-profit organizations and religious organizations: Terms like vision, values, passion, and purpose,” said Khurana. This new focus on personal fulfillment can help keep employees motivated amid increasingly loud debates over work-life balance. The “mommy wars” of the 1990s are still going on today, prompting arguments about why women still can‟t have it all and books like Sheryl Sandberg‟s Lean In, whose title has become a buzzword in its own right. Terms like unplug, offline, life-hack, bandwidth, and capacity are all about setting boundaries between the office and the home. But if your work is your “passion,” you‟ll be more likely to dev ote yourself to it, even if that means going home for dinner and then working long after the kids are in bed.But this seems to be the irony of officespeak: Everyone makes fun of it, but managers love it, companies depend on it, and regular people willingl y absorb it. As Nunberg said, “You can get people to think it‟s nonsense at the same time that you buy into it.” In a workplace that‟s fundamentally indifferent to your life and its meaning, officespeak can help you figure out how you relate to your work—and how your work defines who you are.31. According to Nancy Koehn, office language has become _______.[A] more emotional[B] more objective[C] less energetic[D] less strategic32. “Team”-oriented corporate vocabulary is closely related to _______.[A] historical incidents[B] gender difference[C] sports culture[D] athletic executives33. Khurana believes that the importation of terminology aims to_______.[A] revive historical terms[B] promote company image[C] foster corporate cooperation[D] strengthen employee loyalty34. It can be inferred that Lean In _______.[A] voices for working women[B] appeals to passionate workaholics[C] triggers debates among mommies[D] praises motivated employees35. Which of the following statements is true about officespeak?[A] Managers admire it but avoid it.[B] Linguists believe it to be nonsense.[C] Companies find it to be fundamental.[D] Regular people mock it but accept it.Text 4Many people talked of the 288,000 new jobs the Labor Department reported for June, along with the drop in the unemployment rate to 6.1 percent, as good news. And they were right. For now it appears the economy is creating jobs at a decent pace. We still have a long way to go to get back to full employment, but at least we are now finally moving forward at a faster pace. However, there is another important part of the jobs picture that was largely overlooked. There was a big jump in the number of people who report voluntarily working part-time. This figure is now 830,000 (4.4 percent) above its year ago level. Before explaining the connection to the Obamacare, it is worth making an important distinction. Many people who work part-time jobs actually want full-time jobs. They take part-time work because this is all they can get. An increase in involuntary part-time work is evidence of weakness in the labor market and it means that many people will be having a very hard time making ends meet. There was an increase in involuntary part-time in June, but the general direction has been down. Involuntary part-time employment is still far higher than before the recession, but it is down by 640,000 (7.9 percent) from its year ago level. We know the difference between voluntary and involuntary part-time employment because people tell us. The survey used by the Labor Department asks people if they worked less than 35 hours in the reference week. If the answer is “yes,” they are classified as working part-time. They survey then asks whether they worked less than 35 hours in that week because they wanted to work less than full time or because they had no choice. They are only classified as voluntary part-time workers if they tell the survey taker they chose to work less than 35 hours a week. The issue of voluntary part-time relates to Obamacare because one of the main purposes was to allow people to get insurance outside of employment. For many people, especially those with serious health conditions or family members with serious health conditions, before Obamacare the only way to get insurance was through a job that provided health insurance. However, Obamacare has allowed more than 12 million people to either get insurance through Medicaid or the exchanges. These are people who may previously have felt the need to get a full-time job that provided insurance in order to cover themselves and their families. With Obamacare there is no longer a link between employment and insurance.36. Which part of the jobs picture was neglected?[A] The prospect of a thriving job market.[B] The increase of voluntary part-time jobs.[C] The possibility of full employment.[D] The acceleration of job creation.37. Many people work part-time because they _______.[A] prefer part-time jobs to full-time jobs[B] feel that is enough to make ends meet[C] cannot get their hands on full-time jobs[D] haven‟t seen the weakness of the market38. Involuntary part-time employment in the US _______.[A] is harder to acquire than one year ago[B] shows a general tendency of decline[C] satisfies the real need of the jobless[D] is lower than before the recession39. It can be learned that with Obamacare, _______.[A] it is no longer easy for part-timers to get insurance[B] employment is no longer a precondition to get insurance[C] it is still challenging to get insurance for family members[D] full-time employment is still essential for insurance.40. The text mainly discusses _______.[A] employment in the US[B] part-timer classification[C] insurance through Medicaid[D] Obamacare‟s troublePart BDirections:Read the following text and answer the questions by choosing the most suitable subheading from the list A-G for each numbered paragraph (41-45). There are two extra subheadings which you do not need to use. Mark your answers on the ANSWER SHEET. (10 points)[A] You are not alone[B] Don‟t fear responsibility for your life[C] Pave your own unique path[D] Most of your fears are unreal[E] Think about the present moment[F] Experience helps you grow[G] There are many things to be grateful forSome Old Truths to Help You Overcome Tough TimesUnfortunately, life is not a bed of roses. We are going through life facing sad experiences. Moreover, we are grieving various kinds of loss: a friendship, a romantic relationship or a house. Hard times may hold you down at what usually seems like the most inopportune time, but you should remember that they won‟t last forever. When our time of mourning is over, we press forward, stronger with a greater understanding and respect for life. Furthermore, these losses make us mature and eventually move us toward future opportunities for growth and happiness. I want to share these old truths I‟ve learned along the way.41._____________________Fear is both useful and harmful. This normal human reaction is used to protect us by signaling danger and preparing us to deal with it. Unfortunately, people create inner barriers with a help of exaggerating fears. My favorite actor Will Smith once said, “Fear is not real. It is a product of thoughts you create. Do not misunderstand me. Danger is very real. But fear is a choice.” I do completely agree that fears are just the product of our luxuriant imagination.42._____________________If you are surrounded by problems and cannot stop thinking about the past, try to focus on the present moment. Many of us are weighed down by the past or anxious about the future. You may feel guilt over your past, but you are poisoning the present with the things and circumstances you cannot change. Value the present moment and remember how fortunate you are to be alive. Enjoy the beauty of the world around and keep the eyes open to see the possibilities before you. Happiness is not a point of future and not a moment from the past, but a mindset that can be designed into the present.43._____________________Sometimes it is easy to feel bad because you are going through tough times. You can be easily caught up by life problems that you forget to pause and appreciate the things you have. Only strong people prefer to smile and value their life instead of crying and complaining about something.44._____________________No matter how isolated you might feel and how serious the situation is, you should always remember that you are not alone. Try to keep in mind that almost everyone respects and wants to help you if you are trying to make a good change in your life, especially your dearest and nearest people. You may have a circle of friends who provide constant good humor, help andcompanionship. If you have no friends or relatives, try to participate in several online communities, full of people who are always willing to share advice and encouragement.45._____________________Today many people find it difficult to trust their own opinion and seek balance by gaining objectivity from external sources. This way you devalue your opinion and show that you are incapable of managing your own life. When you are struggling to achieve something important you should believe in yourself and be sure that your decision is the best. You live in your skin, think your own thoughts, have your own values and make your own choices.Section III Translation46. Directions:Translate the following text from English into Chinese. Write your translation on ANSWER SHEET. (15 points)Think about driving a route that‟s very familiar. It could be your commute to work, a trip into town or the way home. Whichever it is, you know every twist and turn like the back of your hand. On these sorts of trips it‟s easy to lose concentration on the driving and pay little attention to the passing scenery. The consequence is that you perceive that the trip has taken less time than it actually has. This is the well-travelled road effect: people tend to underestimate the time it takes to travel a familiar route. The effect is caused by the way we allocate our attention. When we travel down a well-known route, because we don‟t have to concentrate much, time seems to flow more quickly. And afterwards, when we come to think back on it, we can‟t remember the journey well because we didn‟t pay much attention to it. So we ass ume it was shorter.

Dear Editor,I'm writing to express my deep concern about the increasing amount of waste in our community. Recently, I've noticed that the problem of waste disposal has become more severe, andit's high time we took some measures to address this issue.Firstly, the amount of waste generated by households has been growing at an alarming rate. This is largely due to the convenience of modern life, which leads to the overuse of disposable products. For instance, plastic bags, food containers, and other single-use items are commoncontributors to the waste problem.Secondly, the lack of recycling awareness among residents is another significant factor. Many people are unaware of the proper ways to recycle or simply find it inconvenient to do so. This results in recyclable materials ending up in landfills. To tackle this problem, I propose the following solutions:1. Education and Awareness Campaigns: Conducting campaigns to educate the public about the importance of waste reduction and recycling can be highly effective. Workshops and seminars can be organized in schools and community centers.2. Incentives for Recycling: Offering incentives such as discounts at local stores for those who recycle regularly could encourage more people to participate in recycling programs.3. Improved Waste Management Systems: The local government should invest in better waste management infrastructure, including more recycling bins and facilities, and clearer guidelines on waste segregation.4. Legislation: Implementing stricter laws on waste disposal and penalties for those who do not comply can also serve as a deterrent. In conclusion, the issue of waste management is a community-wide concern that requires the collective effort of all stakeholders. By working together, we can create a cleaner and more sustainable environment for future generations.I look forward to your prompt attention to this matter and hope to see positive changes in our community soon.Sincerely,[Your Name]。
