——数词

一、基数词：表示数目的词叫基数词。

（一）基数词的表示方法

1、最基本的基数词: 见书中表格

2、hundred, thousand, million, billion, dozen, score 这些词前面如果有表示具体数字的词，它们末尾不能加“s”且不能与of连用；反之则末尾需加“s”，与of连用。

three hundred people; thousands of people; three thousand of the people

（二）基数词的用法

1、用基数词表示编号。

Today we are going to study Lesson Five. 今天我们要学习第五课。

He lives in Room 801. 他住在801房间。

2、表示大几倍或者小多少用基数词。

This room is three times bigger than that one. 这个房间比那个房间大三倍。

3、“数词+名词（+形容词）”构成复合形容词作定语，其中名词用单数形式，数词与名词及形容词之间用连字符“-”。 A twenty-one-year-old girl is behind me. 一位21岁的女孩在我身后。

4、两组与数词有关的介词短语：

（1）in+定冠词the+整十基数词的复数形式，表示年代。In the 1870s在19世纪70年代

（2）in+物主代词+整十基数词的复数形式，表示某人的大约年龄。

in one’s thirties在某人30多岁的时候

有时在物主代词后面可加上形容词early或late使其含义更确切一些。

The young man is in his early thirties. 这个年轻人刚30岁出头。注意：“十几岁”要用in one’s teens; 二、序数词：表示数目顺序的词叫序数词。

（一）序数词的构成：写法口诀：1.2.3特殊记，th从4加起，两个ve ，f替，8去t 9去e，ty变成tie，后加th莫迟疑，若是几十几，只变个位就可以。

8---eighth; 9---ninth; 12---twenfth; 20---twentieth; 40---fortieth; 90---ninetieth; 99---ninety-ninth; （二）序数词的用法

1、序数词主要作定语、表语，前面要加定冠词the。

The fifth lesson is very easy to learn. 第五课很好学。You are the first one I believe. 你是我最相信的人。

注意：1. 序数词和定冠词连用表示顺序；和不定冠词连用，表示“又一，再一”，和零冠词连用时，表示名次，起副词的作用。

Our classroom is on the second floor of Building 2. 我们的教室在2号楼的2楼。

He failed twice, but he tried it a third time.他失败了两次，但又尝试了一次。

Lily came second in the race. 莉莉在比赛中得了第二名。

2、表示分数词时，分子用基数词，分母用序数词；若分子大于1，表示分母的序数词要用复数形式。Two fifths of the books are mine. 五分之二的书是我的。

3、数词前加every, 表达“每一段时间或每隔一段……”。

每隔10天/每隔8天every ten days / every ninth day;

每隔4周/每隔2周every four weeks / every third week
