Unit 12 Fire一、重点词汇及拓展1. fire n. 火；火灾短语：put out fires 灭火make the fire 生火e.g. Most animals are afraid of fire. 大多数动物怕火。

二、重点短语三、重点句型1. We must be careful with fire. 我们必须小心火。

2. We mustn’t play with matches. 我们不能玩火柴。

①句型：“We must/mustn’t….”must是“必须、应当”的意思，表示一种义务或强制手段。

mustn’t则是“不应该、不许可”，表示禁止。

情态动词must没有时态和人称上的变化。

e.g. We must keep quiet in the library.We mustn’t waste time.②play with的意思是“玩……”，后面跟名词。

但是play with还可以解释为“和……一起玩”。

e.g I am playing with the kids. 我正和孩子们一起玩。

Eddie likes to play with his cat. Eddie喜欢和他的猫一起玩。

③match在本课的意思是“火柴”(复数：matches)。

match还有“比赛”的意思。

e.g There will be a football match tomorrow morning. 明天上午有场足球赛。

3. Fire gives us heat and light. 火给了我们热和光。

give sb sth. 指“给某人某物”，也可以用give sth to sb表示。

Give me three plates.=Give three plates to me.4. Safety first. 安全第一。

四、重点语法情态动词must用法：(1)表示“必须”，此时可用于肯定句、否定句或疑问句，用于否定句时，mustn’t的意思是“一定不要”“不能”，而不表示“不必”。

如：Must I finish the work tonight? 我必须今晚完成这项工作吗?You mustn’t play football in the street. 你不能在马路上踢足球。

注意：对于must开头的一般疑问句，若作否定回答，可以用needn’t/don’t have to，不用mustn’t。

如：Must I clean the rooms? No, you needn’t. 这些房间我都得清扫吗? 不，不必。

(2)表示推测意为“准是”“一定是”，通常只用于肯定句。

若用于否定句或疑问句，则用can代之。

如：Jane’s light is on. She must be at home. She can’t be out.简的房间里开着灯。

她一定在家，不会出去的。

(4) must与have to的区别两者都表示“必须”，但must侧重于说话者的主观看法，认为有必要或有义务去做某事；have to则重于客观需要，含有“不得不”“被迫”之意。

如：Everyone must keep the law. 人人都要守法。

We don’t have any money. We have to walk home. 我们没有钱，我们得走回家。

从时态方面看，must只有现在时一种形式，而have to则有多种时态形式。

如：You will have to show your papers at the gate. 在大门口你得出示证件。

用于否定句时，must的否定式mustn’t意为“一定不要”“不允许”；而have to的否定式don’t have to意为“不必”(=needn’t)。

比较：You mustn’t tell him about it.你一定不要告诉他这件事。

(可能是秘密)You don’t have to tell him about it.你不必告诉他这件事。
