英语教学的最终目的是培养学生用英语进行交际的能力,这种能力只有通过大量的接触英语,使学生沉浸在英语交际的氛围中,才能较快的形成。

小学英语教学的课时较少,我们就要在有限的时间内,最大限度的进行英语实践,在课堂上突出英语特点,排除汉语语言干扰,英语课堂上只说英语,不说或少说汉语,把英语课堂视为用英语进行交际的场所,将英语教学过程视为用英语进行教和学的活动过程。

而对小学生来说,汉语是他们的母语。

由于先入为主的原因,汉语在某种意义上成了学好英语的天然障碍,学生在学习音、词、句时总会自觉或不自觉地与汉语进行对比。

汉语知识和技能对学习英语有积极的一面,也有消极的一面。

在教学中,我们可以充分利用积极的一面,为教学服务。

英语课本中设置了一些故事。

故事是文学的一种形式,从儿童心理发展角度来看,故事在小学阶段儿童心目中有着无法比拟的地位。

因此,在教学中我尽可能多为学生学习语言创设情境,通过表情、手势、实物、情景等使学生明白句子的意思和使用场合。

但其中也有一些场景,在生活中不多见,学生很难体会。

我便通过中英文结合讲故事的形式,使学生能把语言和它表达的情景直接联系起来,能做到听到句子,就想到故事;想到情景,看到情景,句子就能脱口而出。

如教学《新标准英语》第二册第三模块时,这一模块要求掌握一些表示职业以及交通工具的词。

其中第一单元主要是讲一天两个孩子在上学时遇到的一系列奇怪的事,直到最后到达学校,谜底才揭开。

课上,我通过讲故事的形式,把文章串了起来:早晨Lingling(玲玲)和Daming(大明)背着bag(书包)去上学,在站台等bus(公共汽车),可是bus(公共汽车)一直没有来,眼看就要迟到了,他们决定walk(步行)去学校。

路上,他们看到了一辆taxi(出租车),可里面没有taxi driver (出租车司机)。

接着,他们看到了一辆bus(公共汽车),车上一个人也没有。

他们继续walk(步行),经过医院时,看到了doctor(医生)和nurse(护士)的bikes(自行车)。

终于到了学校,发现teacher(教师)的bag(包)在table(桌子)上,teacher(老师)和children(孩子们)却不见了。

他们在学校找啊找啊,发现大家在操场上看clown(小丑)表演。

原来今天是个festival(节日)。

学生听得很入迷。

故事讲完后,在班里举办了一个故事party,让学生用自己的话也来讲一讲这个故事,比赛谁讲得好。

学生讲故事的过程也是学习、巩固词汇,情景的过程。

语言交际不可能只存在一方,单个句子难反映交际双方所说的话,只有语篇才能完整地表达交际中的信息交流。

语篇存在于交际的情境之中,其含义必须参照上下文和使用环境才能理解。

所以,语境因语篇而存在,语篇靠语境发挥自己的交际功能。

心理学家研究表明,水平低的人更需要语境。

小学生处于学习的初期。

课堂中,通过这种中英文夹杂讲故事的方式,不仅让学生理解了课文所讲的内容,逐步进入情境,而且在讲故事的过程中,复习旧单词,学习新单词。

这样的语言环境,对他们的语言认知十分有益。

当然,这只是在接触课文的初始阶段。

语言最初的习得多来自于模仿。

儿童心理学研究表明,儿童天生好动,好模仿,能很快进入某种角色。

所以
在课堂中,等学生熟悉了情境,掌握了单词,我再把教学内容设计成表演剧本,通过模仿表演开展课堂教学,逐步过渡到全英文的会话状态。

这样符合小学生的心理特点,能充分调动其积极性,吸引他们的注意力,促进他们在特定的环境中掌握语言知识,实现成功的课堂教学效果。

把故事融入英语教学充分体现了寓教于乐,融趣味性和知识性于一体的教育特点。
