Tom worked for a big company in a small and remote office last summer vacation. One Friday afternoon when he finished work and was about to go back, he found himself locked in the building. He then tried to phone the doorkeeper, but the phones didn’t work because they were switched off for the weekends. Suddenly he remembered a phone in the reception room which was always on. Although the reception room was locked, he climbed through the window and succeeded in phoning the doorkeeper. Finally, he could go back after the doorkeeper came.

梗概:Uncle John独居,某日侄子Tom得知叔叔晕倒,请来医生救了他。
Uncle John lived alone at the age of eighty-five and the only person he contacted was his nephew Tom. Tom usually called his uncle to say hello to him and check if everything was OK. One day, Uncle John didn’t answer Tom’s phone. Tom then went back to work and then called again. But there was still no answer. After three calls and no answer, Tom was anxious and asked John’s neighbor to see what happened. After a while, the neighbor told Tom that Uncle John was found lying on the bathroom floor. The neighbor couldn’t even wake him up. Tom called the doctor for help immediately and went to Uncle John’s house. Finally, Uncle John was saved in time.
The strategy of retelling a story:
1. Cover as much as possible information related to the topic. 2. The person and the tense should be in agreement with the original story. 3. Retell in suitable tones to make your story attractive. 4. Use indirect speech instead of direct speech.
