Good morning, everyone!May I have your attention please? I am number xxxx, I’m glad to stand here to share my teaching ideas with you. Today I am going to talk about the first period in Section A of Unit 3 What were you doing when the UFO arrived? Which is taken from Go for it, Book 4. My presentation consists of 8 parts:

Part 一、教材分析(analyzing teaching material)

It’s the first period of Unit3.The main content of this unit is how to use the past progressive tense.We will develop many kinds of activities around the theme to attain “four skilles”request of listening, speaking ,reading and writing. Learning 13 new words and phrases,understanding the topic and being able to use past progressive tense are the targes of this lesson.

1.知识目标:aims on the knowledge

1)Enable the Ss to remember the following new words and phrases: bathroom、bedroom、kitchen、get out of 、take off、in front of, talk on the phone and so on.

Sentences:

What were you doing when the UFO arrived?

I was sitting in the barber’s chair.

The barber was cutting my hair.

2.能力目标:Aims on the abilities

1) To develop Ss’ abilities of listening, speaking and reading abilities.

2) To train the Ss’ ability of working in groups.

3) To foster Ss’ abilities of communication

3.情感目标:Aims on the emotion

To lead Ss to show more love to the science and social.

三、教学重点:

Key points of this lesson:

1) To help Ss ask and answer the question: What were you doing when the UFO arrived?

2) To enable Ss to study in groups and co-operate skillfully.

四.教学难点:

Difficult points:

make sure they can use the past continuous tense correctly.

五.教学方法:Teaching methods

I n this lesson I’ll mainly use “Task-based” teaching method. That is to say, I will let the Ss learn in real situations, help the Ss to get a better understanding of the key structure of the dialogue. I will arrange four kinds of activities: free-talk about the UFO, listening ,practicing dialogues and having a competition. And in this lesson, we will use the

multimedia teaching.

六、学法指导study methods

1). Teach Ss how to be successful leaners.

2) Teach Ss how to develop the skills

3) Get the Ss to form good learning habits.

七.教学过程:Teaching procedures

I will finish this lesson in 8 steps.

Step 1 Greeting (3m)

Step 2 Revision (5m)

Show four pictures on the screen

---What is Lily’s mother doing? ---She is cooking.

---What is lily’s father doing? ---He is watching TV.

---What is lily doing? ---She is sleeping late.

---What is Lily’s brother doing? ---He is doing his homework.

(write the answers on the blackbord)

Step 3 Leading-in (11m)

1. Play a clip of film about the UFO for the students.

2. T: What’s UFO? How much do you know about UFO?

students discuss in groups and share their answers with the class.

3. Draw a UFO on the Bb.

(T: Imagine a UFO landed in our county at 9:00 last night.)Then ask studentsto draw what they were doing at 9:00 last night on the Bb.
