The word “plastic” comes from the foreign word “Platicos” and is used to describe 1 that can be easily shaped.
The 2 of plastics is longer than you think. In fact, the first manmade plastics to appear in the market were made over a hundred years ago. It was called “celluloid”(硝化纤维塑料). It was discovered by both an Englishman and an American in the same year. 3 it was the Americans who first produced it during the year 1860. Everybody was excited about this new material because it could be made into different shapes and was cheap to buy.
Poor young men 4 in cities with lots of smoke and dirt were able to buy white celluloid collars (衣领). The collars were hard and uncomfortable, but they were easy to wash.
