2014年12月全国大学英语四级口语考试真题及原文
2015年⼤学英语四级⼝语马上就要考试了,以下是整理的《2014年12⽉全国⼤学英语四级⼝语考试真题及原⽂》,希望对考⽣有所帮助![A] Young graduates are in debt, out of work and on their parents' couches. People in their 30s and 40s can't afford to buy homes or have children. Retirees are earning near-zero interest on their savings.[B] In the current listless (缺乏活⼒的) economy, every generation has a claim to having been most injured. But the Labor Department's latest jobs snapshot and other recent data reports present a strong case for crowning baby boomers (⼆战后⽣育⾼峰期出⽣的⼈) as the greatest victims of the recession and its dreadful consequences.[C] These Americans in their 50s and early 60s — those near retirement age who do not yet have access to Medicare and Social Security — have lost the most earnings power of any age group, with their household incomes 10 percent below what they made when the recovery began three years ago, according to Sentier Research, a data analysis company. Their retirement savings and home values fell sharply at the worst possible time: just before they needed to cash out. They are supporting both aged parents and unemployed young-adult children, earning them the unlucky nickname "Generation Squeeze."[D] New research suggests that they may die sooner, because their health, income security and mental well-being were battered (重创) by recession at a crucial time in their lives. A recent study by economists at Wellesley College found that people who lost their jobs in the few years before becoming qualified for Social Security lost up to three years from their life expectancy (预期寿命), largely because they no longer had access to affordable health care.[E] Unemployment rates for Americans nearing retirement are far lower than those for young people, who are recently out of school, with fewer skills and a shorter work history. But once out of a job, older workers have a much harder time finding another one. Over the last year, the average duration of unemployment for older people was 53 weeks, compared with 19 weeks for teenagers, according to the Labor Department's jobs report released on Friday.[F] The lengthy process is partly because older workers are more likely to have been laid off from industries that are downsizing, like manufacturing. Compared with the rest of the population, older people are also more likely to own their own homes and be less mobile than renters, who can move to new job markets.[G] Older workers are more likely to have a disability of some sort, perhaps limiting the range of jobs that offer realistic choices. They may also be less inclined, at least initially, to take jobs that pay far less than their old positions.[H] Displaced boomers also believe they are victims of age discrimination, because employers can easily find a young, energetic worker who will accept lower pay and who can potentially stick around for decades rather than a few years.[I] In a survey by the center of older workers who were laid off during the recession, just one in six had found another job, and half of that group had accepted pay cuts. Fourteen percent of the re-employed said the pay in their new job was less than half what they earned in their previous job. "I just say to myself: 'Why me? What have I done to deserve this?' " said John Agati, 56, of Norwalk, Conn., whose last full-time job, as a merchandise buyer and product developer, ended four years ago when his employer went out of business. That position paid $90,000, and his rsum lists stints at companies like American Express, Disney and USA Networks. Since being laid off, though, he has worked a series of part-time, low-wage, temporary positions, including selling shoes at Lord & Taylor and making sales calls for a limo company.[J] The last few years have taken a toll not only on his family's finances, but also on his feelings of self-worth. "You just get sad," Mr. Agati said. "I see people getting up in the morning, going out to their careers and going home. I just wish I was doing that. Some people don't like their jobs, or they have problems with their jobs, but at least they're working. I just wish I was in their shoes." He said he cannot afford to go back to school, as many younger people without jobs have done. Even if he could afford it, economists say it is unclear whether older workers like him benefit much from more education.[K] "It just doesn't make sense to offer retraining for people 55 and older," said Daniel Hamermesh, an economics professor at the University of Texas in Austin. "Discrimination by age, long-term unemployment, the fact that they're now at the end of the hiring queue, the lack of time horizon just does not make it sensible to invest in them."[L] Many displaced older workers are taking this message to heart and leaving the labor force entirely. The share of older people applying for Social Security early spiked during the recession as people sought whatever income they could find. The penalty they will pay is permanent, as retirees who take benefits at age 62 will receive 30 percent less in each month's check for the rest of their lives than they would if they had waited until full retirement age (66 for those born after 1942).Those not yet eligible for Social Security are increasingly applying for another, comparable kind of income support that often goes to people who expect never to work again: disability benefits. More than one in eight people in their late 50s is now on some form of federal disability insurance program, according to Mark Duggan, chairman of the department of business economics and public policy at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School. The very oldest Americans, of course, were battered by some of the same ill winds that tormented those now nearingretirement, but at least the most senior were cushioned by a more readily available social safety net. More important, in a statistical twist, they may have actually benefited from the financial crisis in the most fundamental way: prolonged lives. Death rates for people over 65 have historically fallen during recessions, according to a November 2011 study by economists at the University of California, Davis. Why? The researchers argue that weak job markets push more workers into accepting relatively undesirable work at nursing homes, leading to better care for residents.。

2014年11月英语四级口语考试真题及参考答案
以下是⽆忧考整理的《2014年11⽉英语四级⼝语考试真题及参考答案》,希望对2015年要考英语四级⼝语的考⽣有所帮助! 1. Are you satisfied with your present accommodations? Give your reasons. What kind of accommodations would you like to have? From my point view, I’m quite satisfied with our accommodation. My dormitory room faces south and has a lot of sunshine in fine weather. It also has a very good view of the garden in front of the building and the mountains in the distance. It makes me feel good when I look the lovely grass, flowers and trees in the garden. The color of the mountains changes with different seasons and in different weather. I really enjoy watching the view from my room. But there are some aspects need to be improved. Above all, our dormitory is not big enough. When everybody is in the room, there simply is not enough space for us to move around. And with six people in it, there isn’t much privacy for anyone. We even don’t have a washroom in it .So it’s not convenient for us, especially in winter and summer. And the water and electricity supply are usually cut off for some unclear reasons. Everyday we have to go to bed before half past ten. That’ too early! S o we are restricted to do what we need to do after ten thirty. In a word, our canteens are quite good. First of all, the food is quite cheap and the services meet most of our needs. But some canteens are so small that have to wait in line to get our food. In my opinion, a good student apartment should have a relatively large living room and three or four small single bedrooms. This design will provide enough space for meetings and gatherings while at the same time give each student his or her own room. It should have a washroom and we should have water and electricity supply all day long. And we also can get our food without waiting in line. In my university, students have different types of accommodation depending on their status. Undergraduate students generally share dormitory rooms six to a room, and master’s students four to a room. New apartment houses are also available to students who pay an additional rent. 2. What job do you think is the best for you after you graduate? I think the best job for me is to be a teacher after graduation. When I was a child, I had dreamed to be a high school teacher. Now I can come to Xinyang Normal University to receive further education and I major in Study of History. It looks like that my dream will come true in the near future. As a teacher, I can give what I have learnt to my students, who will make contributions to our society. Thinking about it, I will be very proud of being a teacher. And, what’s more, I can become an actor just on the small platform in the front of the classroom, which will make my life much colorful. And then, what mostly makes me choose to be a teacher is that I can share some new ideas with the young people, and by this way I will be young forever in my mind. 3. What is your most important consideration when looking for a job? Actually, many factors contribute to job satisfaction, such as a high salary, good promotion prospects, pleasant and friendly working atmosphere, suitability for one’s professional talents, and personal interests etc. For many people, money or good promotion prospects may be their most important consideration when looking a job; but as for me, what is important is to do something that I enjoy. I hear stories all the time about people who change their jobs because they realize that they don’t like them after they have started. If you don’t like what you’re doing, you are going to be miserable. You cann’t make the best use of your talents and you will get nowhere in your work. So when choosing a job, I think, we’d better make sure that we know where our interest lies, only by doing so, can we do very well in our work and enjoy our work most.。

Why?- watching a movie on a laptop computer- watching a movie in a cinema- watching a movie on TV- watching a movie at a drive-in cinema2. What kind of animals do you especially like to see in a zoo? Should animals be kept ina zoo?3. Explain the meanings of the following two seemingly conflicting English proverbs.- Watch the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves.- Don't be penny-wise but pound-foolish.Which of the two proverbs is true? Or can both be true?4. What does the saying " Every Jack has his Jill." mean? Do you believe in love at first si ght?The above four topics are taken from Lead-in parts of Unit 2, 3, 5 and 7 of the textbook " Speaking Listening Viewing".I like watching a movie in a cinema best. I have to admit it costs more money or even more time. But if you make a right choice in th e films, you’re gonna find the visual effect and the sound effect it brings you is far better than the rest three ways do. A good film is always worth my paying for it. And as my point of view, the best way to prove my appreciation of a film or an actor and my respect for movie industry is to buy the movie ticket. And it’s an effective way to expand movie industry and develop larger market for movies. Besides, a mong many ways contacting people’s feelings, going to a cinema to see a film is definitely important and its help should n’t be ignored. When I am planning for a date with my girlfriend, the first thing in my mind is watching a movie in a cinema, as it’s both interesting and relaxing and it makes the date more special comparing with watching a movie in other ways.Pandas,definitely. Giant Pandas are endangered species and the treasure of our country. They have short limbs, fat body and they are kind of naughty which makes them more lovable.Idon’t think animals should be kept in a zoo or I really don’t l ike animal circus. The environment for animals is gonna make their instinct degenerate and they’re no longer as wild. And keeping them in a cage as prisoners is too impersonal, depriving their freedom what we human beings are always fighting for. Comparing with zoos, I think nature reserves are more suitable for animals. It’s not necessary to go to a zoo if we want know more about animals. We can watch documentaries which can help us learn both their appearance and living habits without disturbing them. For example, there is a live program called Ipanda, showing me every moment of panda’s daily life. It’s more interesting than just watching them in zoos. We should care about animals’ feelings and never hurt them for our own fun.The first sentence means the little things do add up, which has the same meaning as “Rome wasn’t built in a day”. It’s usually used to encourage others to save money, study or do something for the common welfare. The second one means don’t risk big things for the sake of small ones. He that lets the small things bind him, leave the great. I think they are both true and they’re not conflicting. The first one focuses on persistence while the second one’s point is taking the interests of the whole into account and making a bright choi ce. When we want to reach a great goal, we’d better divide it into tiny parts so that the stress won’t be able to let us give up. After all, one step at a time is not that difficult. After taking many little steps, we’re gonna find we’ve gone a longway. It’s necessary for us toweigh pros and conscarefully before making a choice. We should figure out if that little thing is worth our loss in other things. It means every man will eventually find a woman to be his romantic partner.I think it’s unreasonable. How can there be so many single men and women in the world if that’s true. But I do believe in love at first sight. If it’s able to show its magic power is decided by people’s choice. I guess most people must have experienced love at first sight but the y do nothing because of blindness or hesitation. Love at first sight doesn’t mean falling in love with someone just because of something on the surface. There will be a voice in your heart telling you that he’s the one and a feeling that you wanna get clo se with him. I am a crazy fan for fairy tales and romantic love stories, which are always based on love at first sight. It’s an excellent beginning for a section of love, the following chapters are written by you. I think a person believing in love believe love at first sight.。

Please say something about their advantages and disadvantages. What kinds of technology do you think will be available in the future? How would they make a difference in our life? The use of technology is increasing day by day, we all depend on technology and we use various technology to accomplish specific tasks in our daily life. I usually use smartphone and internet in my daily life. I can do a lot with my smartphone. For example, I can use Wechat to talk to my parents and friends whenever and wherever I am free. I can send them some pictures that I just took. I can send them a record or a video tape to them. And the internet allows me to catch the latest news all around the world. It can help me with my study, too. I can search the whole internet to find something or some information that I want to know about. And with the continuous development of the new technology, not only the computer but also our life will be much more different in the future. For example, the revolution of the computer brings us the quantum computer, which could factor a large digit number in minutes to hours. Which means we can deal with much more information than before. And perhaps we can store all memories and knowledge in your hard drive one day. Memories last a lifetime, but with devices like Google Glass, pictures are no longer the only things can immortalize us. Storage drives will accompany us for the rest of our life.2. What kind of news (national, international, sports, entertainment, etc.) is the most interesting to you? What kind is the least interesting? Do you think working in the media is a glamorous job? Why or why not?I use the internet to get the latest news most frequently. Because I can get some important information or breaking news through my smartphone and the news always comes in time. And the job only has to work 8 hours a day and I can get some rests in the weekend. So I guess I would like to have a job in a bank. I think the most suitable major to apply a job of bank is finance. My major is international economics and trade which is unlikely very suitable for applying a job of bank in my opinion. But sometimes my teacher told me we were needed by bank because we had learned something, like how to deal with the customs kind of thing, that was what they needed when it comes to international money transfer. And I am glad that I am going to be an intern in a bank this summer vacation. And before that, I have to equip myself with some basic finance knowledge.I have to talk to people all the time during my work as well. So I have to be very patient with every client. I don’t know what position I will be assigned to but I am really looking forward to it.4. Your view on the business.(Unit 5)Tips: Which company do you think is a successful company? What does the company do and why do y ou think it’s been famous? Which famous businessman or businesswoman do you know? What is he or she known for? Introduce him or her briefly. What can you learn from him or her?I think the Alibaba Company is a very successful company. Jack Ma established Alibaba in 1999 in Hangzhou and the company went on the market in 2014. It was one of the largest IPO ever in New York Stock Exchange and even worldwide. Jack Ma was graduated from Hangzhou Normal University and his major was English. After graduation, he worked at a college as an English teacher for 7 years and then he started his own small business called Alibaba in 1999. Taobao was founded in 2003 and that is the very website I first knew Jack Ma. Now days, Jack Ma is famous for Taobao because more and more people areshopping online now. We usually could get a great discount online and that is why the e-business is so full of life in China or worldwide now. Jack Ma is not an overnight success person. He had failed many times as well. He failed 2 times in Gaokao because his math marks was too low. But he was unwilling to give up and he got in the university when he took the third round. One thing that I learn from Jack Ma is that we should never give up easily. Birds don’t just fly, they fall down and they get up. Nobody learns without getting any hurt.1.以上四个参考话题与视听说教材授课单元相关,分别对应2,3,4,5单元。

With it, we can have more options which will lead to greater success and happiness. The more you learn, the more choices and opportunities you will have. A society with only a small gap between the rich and poor will ensure a low er crime rate. And a better social environment will in turn promote economic developmentI think the government should come up with some measures to change the poor’s life style .for example, the opportunity can be offered to help the poor to find a job for them ,which can make them make progressin their ordinary life.
